It's nearly impossible to find a yarn store in Rome where the proprietors are actually friendly. Thank goodness I stumbled upon this shop! The owner, Emanuela Dobrovich, is reserved, but kind and helpful. She staffs the store in the evenings. Her niece, Marta, who is quite open and friendly, staffs the store in the mornings. Unlike many store owners I've run into, they both try very hard to understand my terrible Italian and to ensure that I find the yarn I'm looking for. The downside to this otherwise nice little shop is that it carries almost exclusively Adriafil yarns. In any event, although I'm sure I can find a greater variety of yarns (and Adriafil yarns at a slightly lower price) elsewhere, the two of them keep me coming back.
I should mention this is a traditional Italian yarn shop...in that the store is stuffed full from top to bottom not only with yarn, but a wide variety of other things, including women's socks and pantyhose and small handmade items. The byline of Emanuela's business card reads "Merceria / Intimo Moda / Oggesttistica Artigianale / Bomboniere." read more
