We came in on a busy Sunday and saw a couple walk out and another few customers getting upset with the wait. The woman behind the counter was extremely sweet and was working so hard to keep up with the line. She remembered every order despite the pressure of all eyes on her. 10/10 for customer service because she had a great attitude through it all. Toppings are all included in the $7 so you can add what you like to each menu item. We ordered the classic Cookies and Cream. Came with an oreo on the top. Was SUPER cold upon first scoop but it was A LOT to eat for one person. Well worth its price! They also have vegan options.

You have to ask: "What's this?" and "How much is this/that?" about 50-60 times when you're looking around. Just not how I'm used to shopping and deciding what I'd like to eat.

The inside is a mix of old timey and funky with lots of creative murals painted on the walls. We quickly received our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was outstanding but I didn't get her name. Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.

I am sure glad I did! What a special little ice cream shop this is. What makes the shop so special? The ice cream is definitely tasty. I appreciate that they served it in biodegradable containers (my bowl was heavy duty paper, unfortunately the spoon was plastic but they get points for trying in my book!), and if you want to be really biodegradable you can get one of their delicious smelling waffle cones! It was extremely humid so I could not get a good photo of the ice cream cases. They had about 10 different flavors that they had created. Really fun names like "Harts Island Road Church" with a brown sugar ice cream base and just enough chunks of candy pecans to keep your taste buds on point, but super appreciated the "Elvis Has Left the Building" which was of course PB ice cream with tasty little bites of banana. I was kind of worried about that ice cream because I thought it might be slimy but it was fantastic! I did ask the two young ladies working behind the counter (Who I was happy to see were both wearing masks and wearing them properly over their nose and mouth yay!!) If they had some thing that was a little bit more on the strong flavor/less sweet side, and they said that they sometimes do have a coffee flavor called Cypress Black Brew, but it was, unfortunately, sold out. So obviously I have to go back and try that! They have other treats like ice cream floats (including handcrafted soda base!) and tasty teas and fancy Lyon's coffee (my fav!!), oh and Sno Balls!!! They were so kind to me, as someone who was seeking a little kindness along with my indulgent dessert. The customer service pushed me to a five star review. I know that the south is known for politeness, but the ladies here really had a joyfulness in their attitude that made me want to stay and socialize. And this is a perfect spot for that. They have tables inside and a seating area outside as well! Parking is convenient and right in front of the building and also along the street. TL/dr: Definitely a must-visit sweet spot in Shreveport!

They have many different and fun flavors to try. However, I think it's a bit more pricey than baskin Robbins or one of the chain ones but you can definitely taste the difference in the quality of the ice cream. I haven't had much of their ice cream but it was good all the time. Additionally, I have always had a good experience here in terms of service. Never had a problem with them in any way. They host a few cute events for the family and for your friends so be on the lookout on the Instagram/ Facebook page. Overall, the service and the ice cream were good.
