Now I have to come clean and say I, like most my age, don't wear dentures, but then again I'm willing to bet nor do a fair whack of the other people who hold this place close to their hearts. You see, Glamourous Geggies is old school Partick epitomised in one ramshackle doorway. While generic chain stores and new builds mark the slow gentrification of many areas of Glasgow, Geggies' entrance is littered with a ridiculous array of false teeth and sprawled with several quirky slogans, including the somewhat underwhelming boast of "Still A Jolly Fine Service". Indeed from the outside the narrow premises, which sport a small, dusty window and scraggly curtains, look more like something from a house of horrors. But it's such individuality that made Partick special; the idea of independent businesses all offering something different and helping to build up that traditional high street feel. As it is, Geggies has survived because it specialise in a niche which few have been able to better. Despite the obscure shop frontage, Glaswegian denture-wearers (and as the home of Creamola Foam and Irn Bru, there are many) swear by owner John and his team's ability to design, repair, clean and basically do anything you want to your wallies. Their reputation as talented denture technicians is unparalleled in the city and I can only hope that by the time I do need a set myself, this place is still going and still offering as jolly good a service as it is now. I registered as a patient here in June 2015, knowing I really needed to see a dentist, having been a number of years without going to one. The patience of all staff I encountered - from the receptionist to the dentist, Doctor Zubair - totally put me at ease and helped me to get over the initial hurdle of needing to make an appointment, and the care I received really did change my perspective of dentists. I was a profoundly nervous patient and was treated with the utmost care. The practise doesn't smell like a dentists either, but I would honestly recommend this dentist practise if you're nervous or apprehensive, because dental care is really important. Poor dental health is linked to coronary heart disease, and inflammation which can cause serious health conditions, so it's important to keep on top of it, not just to visit when you've got toothache. Seriously, I don't have strong enough words of praise for this place. The only reason I stopped going is because I moved to another country. If I still lived within the area, I would still be going, and it's been a bit of a struggle to find a comparable dentist where I live now. But if you're lucky enough to live locally, and need a dentist, and are scared of going, make a phone call or pop in. You'll be met with caring, professional staff who will make a huge effort to help you overcome your fears and treat you with care, compassion and respect.

My friend and I were leaving in the morning to make our way to the Scottish Highlands and I knew I had to be seen before our departure. I emailed 2 emergency dental clinics. Hammaad, the dentist, emailed me soon after they opened at 8:30 am and said he could fit me in at 9:15 am. I called him as requested and told him I would be on my way. The location was easy to find. Every single employee at the clinic was so kind. I was seen right away and they quickly took x-rays and started on my root canal. I told Hammaad that I was leaving to go to the Highlands and not returning to Glasgow. So he made sure to set me up for success. He cleaned out my tooth that had a bad infection. He constantly asked how I was doing during the procedure. Afterwards he gave me antibiotics to make sure the infection would go away. He told me he would call me the next day to check on me and called me while I was still in the office to ensure he would be able to get a hold of me. The cost of the last minute appointment, x-rays, and the root canal was 299 pounds. I paid out of pocket since I am a US citizen. But it was worth every penny as we all know toothaches are the worst. They gave me directions to the pharmacy and it took just a few minutes to pick up my prescriptions. Hammaad called me the next morning to check on me which was thoughtful and kind of him. I highly recommend this dental clinic. Everything and everyone was perfect from start to finish. I was able to still make it to the highlands and enjoy my holiday without any further pain. But if you like Mexican food there is one little Taco at this newly run dental studio who will give your little teeth the time of their life. Ok, so you may now be reading this and thinking, ''this guy has lost the plot''. How can a yummy Mexican food stuff possibly make a spankingly good dentist? Well, that's because in Holland they give their children crazy names, like Taco. I've been visiting Mr. Taco now for over 6 year and when I recently found out he was leaving his old practice to open his very own dental studio with his colleague Robbie, I just couldn't bare the thought of having to switch dentist. So, I simply staked him for a few weeks and discovered that he had set up shop in Renfrew, just a few minutes drive outside Glasgow, woohoo! If you are the anxious type or generally don't like the ambiance of a dentist, you could do no better than to give this place a go. Both these guys are so laid back and will help you feel comfortable and at ease. Taco often plays BBC Radio 6 in the background which often takes my mind off things as he goes about doing his business and he has some nice artwork on the walls too, so definitely not your typical dentist. Attentive, mild mannered and super professional. I couldn't recommend a friendlier and nicer dental practice. So, be nice to your teeth and come pay these guys a visit!

This place genuinely deserves its 5 stars. For a dentist, I think that in itself is truly remarkable! Firstly, Preeti is the loveliest dentist on earth. She is so reassuring, so patient, and just has such a lovely manner. I feel in very safe hands with Preeti. Since my initial visit, I have had a further 2 visits, to have composite put onto 3 of my teeth, as I have very bad enamel erosion, for various annoying reasons. I have been really scared of injections into my mouth my entire life. I think I must have had one when I was a child and have had the fear ever since. My whole adult life, I have not had any injections into my mouth. So for the first treatment with Preeti, I had no injection, and had composite put onto 2 front teeth. I was getting a bit tense and a bit jumpy, and jumpy is not good when you are having composites put on, so Preeti very patiently suggested that perhaps I had had enough for one day, and she would do the third tooth another time. That was a great suggestion. I had a week to build up courage, and today I actually took an injection. I was a bit jumpy again the first time she tried so the lovely nurse held onto my hands, and the ever-patient Preeti ever so gently did the injection. And then the treatment was SO MUCH EASIER! Honestly, I couldn't feel a thing. I couldn't feel my nose never mind my lips or teeth for a few hours afterwards either, but that doesn't matter. If like me, you have been scared of mouth-jags, take it from me - just DO IT. Get it done and the treatment will be so much better, honestly. Preeti has helped me overcome my life-long fear, and I will be forever grateful. The dental nurse on reception was so nice again - I love her too. I even got an Elsa from Frozen sticker cos I was such a brave girl, hahahaaa! I'm really happy with the results so far. I've now to wait 3 months, using my special toothpaste, then I've to go back to talk about the possible next stage - more orthodontics. Strangely, now that I feel in safe hands, I'm almost looking forward to this.

I got in early. Registering was quick and easy - although to make your initial appointment (as with every other appointment) there is a deposit of £10. This deposit is supposed to be refundable if you attend your appointment - but it usually goes towards any fees that you have to pay. For example, you have to pay for x-rays and teeth cleaning - and so your £10 deposit will go towards these. On the plus side, this dentist practice is open on Saturdays and till quite late on Monday night (7pm). However, waiting times are long, as you would expect, especially if you're wanting an appointment on a Monday night or a Saturday. Expect to wait over a month. The dentists in this practice all seem to be quite young and newly qualified - but are all nice and friendly. Partick Dental Practice is bright and clean - and also offers cosmetic procedures.
