The woman at the host table offered me a drink (I politely declined,) and then started a conversation about the different products available on the shelves in front of me. I didn't leave with any, but it was nice to learn about what the salon stocked and how it could help my hair. Anyway, a few minutes later my stylist arrived and led me downstairs where the magic happens. I showed her a few photos and explained what I was wanting and she went to work. Roughly 20 minute later - I had a new cut. The cost is competitive. I paid $40 plus tip (February 2026) and was in and out in about 40 minutes. I'm going to stick with my main guy, but I will recommend because I enjoyed my experience.

I strike up a great conversation with Cindy the front desk person about seeing live music, including people like Johnny Cash, Wanda Jackson, Loretta Lynn. Then I remember why I came in I was desperate to get a haircut. I had gone to at least three or four barbershops prior to finding this cutting place. Although they take walk-ins, it helps to have an appointment because they are busy. I had to wait an hour and a half so I went to the local vintage shop boomerangs right next-door, which was pretty awesome Anyway, my cutter was Felicia who did a five star job on my hair I got the cut that I wanted. I got to shave of my neck, the warm towel the shampoo and blow dry. This will now be my go to location as my cutter for 25 years in Los Angeles Unfortunately is sick and may likely need to retire. Oh, did I mention that Cindy offered me a drink from nonalcoholic to a glass of wine to a cold can of Hamms beer. That actually hit the spot. Easy parking in the adjacent parking lot. Be sure to check out boomerangs!

I'm extremely disappointed with the experience my brother and I had at this barbershop…read more This was his first haircut in a while, and we gave very clear instructions before the cut began: taper the back, keep the hair long on top, and keep the area around the ears soft to help conceal existing scars. Unfortunately, those instructions were not followed. Instead of a taper, the haircut turned into a high fade that left the top resembling a mohawk and made the scar near his ear significantly more visible. About halfway through the service, the barber acknowledged that she had cut too deeply. Her response at that point was that "the scar needs sun exposure," which was surprising and concerning to hear. Particularly on darker skin, scars generally benefit from careful protection from sun exposure to help avoid further discoloration or potential keloid formation. What made the experience more frustrating was the lack of accountability afterward. Even after we explained our concerns, there was no meaningful apology--only comments that she "just didn't know." Despite the mistake and the significant deviation from the requested style, we were still charged full price. Everyone makes mistakes, but professionalism is shown in how those mistakes are handled. In this case, there was little acknowledgment of the issue and no effort to remedy the situation, particularly given the sensitivity surrounding the scars and the emotional impact of having them made more visible. Based on this experience, I would personally hesitate to recommend this shop for people with textured hair, people of color, or for those who require careful attention around scars or other sensitive areas. Greater training, experience with diverse hair types, and a willingness to listen carefully to clients would go a long way toward improving the service.

Dropped in on a Wednesday mid-afternoon with no appointment and Jackie proceeded to hand out the best haircut and trim I've had in a good while. Since I'm always looking for an excuse to come to this area of town, the likelihood I'll be doing my business here just increased significantly (what with Pryde's, Beer Kitchen, Westport Cafe, Harry's, Julep and more in walking distance). $20 for what I received seemed like a great deal and I learned some of the technical side of the business thanks to some discussion. Great service, a great lady, and all the good things I read about it on Yelp confirms this was a great decision. Highly recommended.

The not so good was the haircut itself- uneven fade, undercut way too high, no attention to the top and the barber cut the back of his neck, as well. It wasn't cheap for what we got- 25 bucks plus tip and a 2 dollar credit card fee. He smelled strongly of his barbers cheap cologne for the rest of the day, which might not bother some folks but had us both sneezing. I hate to leave a bad review and don't wanna call the individual barber out, but this spot isn't for us and we won't be returning.
