Well this is just the cutest, small town, USA bbq joint around!…read more I happened upon this hidden gem on my way back from the Linton Freedom Festival Parade on the 4th of July. Starving, I was in search of somewhere that was opened on a holiday and serving up some yummy food and I found both in Joe's! This building is located right off the main drag in Clay City and you enter from the alley. The outside of the building is adorned in old street signs and inside with old-school memorabilia - gas station signage in a diner-style setting. Cute to boot! Even the bathroom was decorated with old comic strips and pages out of magazines. The sink countertop was lined with bottle caps that I may copy in my next house project ;) I ordered up some rib tips, mac and cheese, and green beans and all entrees come with some Texas toast. I was in between ordering the beef brisket or rib tips and the staff all pointed me towards the rib tips and I'm so glad they did because man oh man, they were fall-off-the-bone delightful and the mac and cheese had a strong pepper flavor, which was unexpected but delicious. The green beans were good, nothing too exciting there - I was trying to be healthy. I should have gone with the sweet potato casserole or fries. Next time for sure! I'll be coming back, for sure!

The Mac n cheese is the worst I've ever had anywhere, Cole slaw is OKAY, green beans are Smokey flavored and that's literally it. My husband got the smoked wings and he said those were good as well but his Sides were terrible as well. On the second day we did take out as well, got sandwiches instead and house Chips, the house chips were actually THE best thing on their menu by far. My husband got the pastrami ruban and said it was awful and actually ended up throwing it away, I got a Cuban, I didn't mind the Cuban, but it's not a Cuban.( I'm from Florida, I know what an authentic Cuban is) it's a pressed panini with pork and some other stuff. But not bad. On the service side, I was sat at the bar for a take out order and the bartender took my order, I gave her my money and she never brought back my 3 dollars worth of change, I had a 20 dollar tip for her(because the food isn't her fault and my husband and I were feeling generous that day) however she stole my change and we just decided to leave her with the much smaller tip she deserved. Both days we went they were completely out of brisket.

She figured I'd want my favorite--the big slab of meatloaf with Texas toast. Nope...no meatloaf...not this time. Her timing was perfect as I've seen advertised and heard from reliable sources about the famous "Big Al" from Pappy's. I made my request. She immediately agreed that it had to be tried. The Big Al isn't just a heaping mound of pork. It's a heaping mound of pork on Texas toast with just the right ratio of a sweeter sauce and.....here it comes....a big clump of Mac and cheese!!! It was like a modern day Dagwood with pork, Mac and cheese and sauce. WOW!! I have a sweet tooth. I like a bit of salty with the sweetness. But the creamy Mac and cheese with the perfectly chewy (al dente?) pasta made this sandwich a hit. The sandwich, along with their perfectly crisped French fries were a great combo. It was a HUGE portion and definitely required some to be held back for leftover lunch. Here's what makes the sandwich even better: this was designed by a local teen and his wishes were for some of the profits from the sandwich to go back towards a worthy organization. I'm intentionally leaving some information out so those who don't know will go and discover the rest of the story on your own. Get out of the house and head to 111 E. National ASAP. Pappy's--Meat---Eat---Repeat. There are plenty of choices if the Big Al isn't for you. My wife and I are pretty partial to their bread pudding, too!! You can't go wrong. Last thing that has always amused me...it's also an educational experience going to Pappy's with their animal anatomy drawings on the wall. It's a clean place with tons of room to maneuver. Good stuff!!!

Expensive for such a small pizza, but tasty. Cooked perfectly. My wife loved the cauliflower crust pizza due to her being gluten free. She got it with bacon and onion. Took it home and loved the leftovers! The friends we were with had the whiskey river BBQ burger and stated it was one of the worst burgers they have ever had. Said it was just a frozen patty that was overcooked and dry, the bun was falling apart and dry as well. They said the toppings were just OK. All in all a good experience. 2 small pizzas (10" and 12") and 3 drinks (one cocktail and two draft beers) came to $62 before tip. That's a bit steep. Will I go back? Yup. Worth a second snd third trip for sure.

Not only that, but the food was stellar. Here's what we tried: -Foie Gras Special: 9/10 - I just love foie gras and wow this one was cooked to perfection and the accompaniment of the cream cheese foam and the apple was amazing! I could eat it all to myself. -Denver American Wagyu 8oz: 8/10 - I did really like it, though I may have gone with Spiralis cut next time, as this was small and not as flavorful as I would've dreamed of. Decadent, of course. -Mac and Cheese: 10/10 - A perfect Mac and cheese. I don't think I could've dreamt of a better one. The flavor was outstanding, the pasta was al dente, and the cheese was just soooo gooey. It was addictive. -Truffle Butter Mashed Potatoes: 7/10 - While these were good, they had no truffle butter taste to them at all. In fact, we wondered if it had been mistakenly marked as truffle butter, but apparently it was correct. -Korean Corn: 8/10 - Cheesy, gochujang-ey, yummy. It's kind of like a Korean elote, so I'm not mad at all. -Gooey Butter Cake: 9/10 - I really don't know how to describe this other than sweet and yummy. It was also soft inside, which paired well with the crispier crust. -Chocolate Decadence: 10/10 - This just melted in my mouth. It was gooey and delicious and dark and rich and WOW. It's like the pudgiest brownie you'll ever eat. Overall, well impressed!

I then went to another website for another restaurant who uses the same ordering system, placed an order and got confirmation. One I was picking up at 11:30 when I was picking up at 11:45. The following morning I went to go check my emails just to confirm the times I see an email from wings etc. had changed my order time to the same day that I placed the order. I then started calling wings, etc. trying to get something resolved. Took till 1030 to get someone on the phone ok so they open at 11. And was told they would call right back. Call them 30 min later still can't tell me anything I then go there at 1130 my original pickup time. And through text message with the GM was told that I had to replace the order pay for it and they would refund it back to me I had to feed people so rather than arguing I did it I was not going to make my company pay for it twice so I went ahead and paid for it being told I was gonna get a refund but they had to do that to be able to make the order. I was told I was gonna get a call for this the same day that it happened. I had to actually call there today to find out what was going on. I was told I'm only getting half of what I paid extra for the second order because of their website screwing up and then not being able to do anything without the general manager there. Not only that but I get a second call from somebody else telling me the exact same thing that I was already told when I called them. This was over $80 order and I left a 20% tip and they didn't have the courtesy to call and inquire why such a large order would be paid for with a 20% tip again I never got a confirmation text or phone call about the order being placed everywhere else, including the other place that I used that I use the same ordering system I got a text message from them. I will not be returning to wings, etc. my company will not be using them again and I hope you stay away too

The service was extremely disrespectful from the bartender Reese. From the moment customers walked…read morein, she complained about people coming in to support the business. Another customer came in hoping to watch the Lakers game, but she acted like the game wasn't available at the bar in what seemed like an attempt to discourage them from staying because she wanted to close early and go home. Later, I ordered two drinks and tipped around 50% on my receipt, yet I was immediately made to feel like my tip still wasn't enough for the level of service provided. The bartender wearing the orange wig then went on to call me ugly and broke for not paying more. I even asked what she considered an appropriate tip amount, and she refused to answer. It honestly felt like there was an expectation for customers to overpay despite receiving poor customer service. While the drinks tasted good, they ended up making me feel sick immediately afterward.
