What a friendly, well run pharmacy. Far superior to all the chain one's. So happy we found this place. Highly recommend

When you park in their lot for shopping only, there's no charge. If you're staying and walking across for the beach/boards, you're paying $10. My gripe with this place is that ever since I can remember, the woman at the register hasn't been very friendly at all. No hello when I say hello to her. My 4-year old needed the restroom, and she said she had no restroom (c'mon, really? This shop is in a large house..of course they have a restroom). Hubby had to take my son across the street to Subway to use their bathroom while I shopped (and purchased something!). Also, the Yelp check-in deal said (1) free seashell. After showing it to her, she said she didn't have any shells. Mind you, there are 99 cent seashells ALL OVER this place! And it was for my little boy, not me!!! On the way out, she says, "here", and gives me a prickly seashell. Thanks. Jenkinsons aquarium gift shop across the way has a good assortment of stuff - next time will just shop there. Just wanted to visit here one more time for memories sake. Always got nice stuff in the past here but not worth the 'tude.

The problem here is the attitude of the woman who works here (somewhere in her late 50s or early 60s and has sandy blond curly hair). I have watched her on several occasions be rude to customers. Someone asked her a genuine question this Saturday as to why the shop closes at 4pm. Her response was they would not make any more money. The customer then asked "even in the tourist season?" And the woman behind the counter said "yes honey!, even in the tourist season". The customer being offended by her tone said "well I guess you know better than me" and this woman's second rude response was "I sure do". This was just one event. There have been others that I've seen but I don't remember the details. So although I would highly recommend shopping here for the selection of items, I would though try not to interact with this woman much unless you absolutely have to. I have learned that she is not the owner and hope the owner reads this and will watch her more closely as she needs better people skills.

Instead of saying what I should it said, I asked my family to walk out if the store and I explain them. Dear owner, we were not the typical family that you see every day, as we are not white, we are Hispanic and my husband and son in law are white. But I wanted to let you know that we work hard for everything we have, including a nice vacation. Our grandkids worked doing shores and saved enough to get what they want on top of the spending money we give them for their vacations. We teach them value and respect. I could have stayed and confronted the lady, instead I walked away and by doing it, we were the biggest people and I tough them a lesson of respecting themselves and not allowing nobody to disrespect them and mistreat them because of their race. One thing for sure, every time we come back to town, I would never spend a penny on your store. I hope you learn a lesson with this and remember not to be racist. By the way, I am very proud of who I am and where I am coming from, Puerto Rico. I have served this country as well. I read the owner review, two points, at the time of our visit; there were only 2 clients, other than us. Second, clearly I heard the lady telling the young employee, I was just walking by her when she instructed her to look out for us. If there was no intention, there should not be any derogatory comment. Also, get cameras so next time you accuse someone wrongly, you can see. Do not try to sugar coat the reality of the event and the discrimination of the accusation. Do not worry, we don't let situations like this to take our great moments away. Yes, I was very upset as my daughter and granddaughter wanted to buy from the store, and telling them what the lady said was not easy, especially for my 13 year old. But my family time is priceless and we enjoyed the other stores.

Upstairs is a lovely art gallery. We stopped in during THE PANDEMIC on a quiet weekday. I immediately fell in love with some of the framed photography, but like many others, during these difficult times, I'm on a budget, so that was a hard no to spending $150 on art right now. Luckily, when we wandered upstairs, we found less expensive prints of the images so we could frame it ourselves. SOLD. Staff were friendly. And bonus, even through my mask, it smelled so lovely inside.

My mom and grandma would bring me here when I was little when they first opened back in 2005. The prices have skyrocketed and I fear they have steered away from the "local business" culture and prices. Now it feels like I'm shopping at an expensive department store. The prices are not reflective of the quality. The jewelry isn't as good as it used to be as the $14-$16 sterling silver earrings begin to tarnish after a month of wear. Many of my pieces I own have become stretched out and pilled after only a few wears (even with gentle washing/cleaning). Some of the pieces being the EXACT SAME BRANDS that are sold at Island Gypsy in Lavalette but being more affordable there. Today I went for the first time in a long time as I had a gift card and wanted to give them another shot as I so badly want to love sunshine again. But when I went to pay the girls said there wasn't enough money on my unused gift card saying there was only $13 of the $25...do not think it was malicious or intentional but I think there was a mix up due to them reusing gift cards. If you're charging this much for your products, why can't you afford to buy new gift cards or have a better system? The girls kind of just looked at me and shrugged like "sorry". After today, it makes me so sad as a local of point pleasant boro that a store I once loved for the quality and price has now become a hub specifically geared towards wealthy tourists.

Mr. Lubin charged him $10 even though the price set by NJ Department of Treasury Division of Revenue and Enterprise Service caps the price state wide at $2.50. When my father questioned the 4x upcharge, Mr. Lubin said "he was doing my father a favor (the document was signed at this point) he could have charged my father $20 or $30" This price is set by the state, yet Mr. Lubin took advantage of the situation and a senior citizen. I taught about 14 years ago and always bought supplies at this store. I was very excited to finally have time to go this past Saturday. I looked up the store hours which stated they closed at 5. I arrived a little before 4pm and was greeted by a gentleman asking me if I needed help finding anything. I explained one of the many items I was looking for and he replied very abruptly "I have no idea what you are talking about!" and walked away to help other customers. I went about my business looking at everything and getting ideas of what I was going to purchase. I was then approached by the gentleman again asking if I needed further assistance and I told him I was just looking around. After the way he responded the first time I needed help, I realized he didn't really want to be helpful. He then proceeds to tell me that he hates to tell me this, but he's closing soon. Being as I knew they closed at 5pm, I questioned the closing time while looking at my watch noticing it was only 4. He stated sometimes people have things to do and have to close early. More people were walking in and he said in a very annoyed manner "UGH, now more people are coming in, I guess I have to stay open. I'll give you a little time to shop, but not too much longer." At that point I was completely turned off and told him he lost me as a customer and how nasty he is. It's not like I live very close to this store and to be treated with poor customer service after I made a special trip there is unacceptable. Being as it's the only teacher store left in the area, I will continue to shop online as I did as soon as I got home from Borden's. I had sent an email asking for the owner to contact me. It is now Wednesday and still have not received any response. I have a feeling the gentleman I encountered may be the owner and seriously needs some customer service training or even simply how to treat others.
