First day in Lisbon after a long day travel looking for a good meal. We found Butchers on Google. I have to say that we almost didn't eat here because it was busy and we were tired. The owner was so accommodating and said go to the bar have a drink and I'll see if a table opens up. We did and are so happy that we were able to experience the meal. The food was absolutely amazing. We had two different meats, the peppers and risotto on top of all the sides they give you. The meat was soft cooked to perfection. The flavor of the fat was almost as good as the meat. We also had the passion fruit sangria, fruity and sweet. We will definitely recommend this place to whoever we know that travels to Portugal. Thank you for a great first meal. read more

Came here for our last meal in Lisbon. I ordered the Ribeye 200g and my partner ordered his first ever T-bone 800g. Both were perfectly cooked exactly how we wanted it (medium rare) and were exceptionally tasty. The steaks came with salad (nothing special) and legit the best fries I've had in a long long time. We even ordered some to go as well, they were that good. To drink I had a simple white wine. Service was quick and good. We did not have a reservation and were seated promptly (though the outdoor section was full). I highly recommend and would definitely return. read more

Ok, I've got mixed feelings about this place. I'll start with the drinks. If you've read my posts before, I've learned to stay away from signature cocktails finally, although my gf got one (which was like a Moscow mule made with water instead of ginger beer). So I tried to order a Rob Roy (just scotch and vermouth), waiter didn't know what it was, I told him, he said they can't make that. Ok...so I said I'll just have a bourbon. He said we have jack Daniel's, JW black, and JW red. Hold the eff up!! First, unless u don't have vermouth u named two scotches, and since martini was an option, im guessing u had vermouth and could've made my Rob Roy. Second, not one of those is a Bourbon!! Two are scotch and one is a Kentucky whiskey. Anyway, I had two "jack Daniel's bourbons. Soooo...maybe bring your own liquor in a flash. Now, the bread was great!! I love me some bread and it was just really good. Cheese app: absolutely delicious!! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I took it and put it on some of the bread. Just amazing. Garlic beef app: could've been great, cooked very rare, and served in a garlic sauce...but the cut was very tender, and I didn't mind it being so rare...but there was this weird after taste in the sauce...I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was very bitter. Maybe they made it with a super bitter beer or something. But it almost made the dish unpalatable. Steaks: both were really good, good, portions, and priced really well. The chefs steak had no fat, was extremely tender, cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and had a little pimento on the side which was a nice touch. Same goes for the ribeye, really nice steak done well (not well done, cooked medium but done well). Salad: I don't eff with salads so who really cares. U want salad stay at home, throw some vegetables in a bowl, put some salt and oil on it and hate your life. Sweet potato fries: now, some may love them, so this is more personal for me...I HATE SWEET POTATO FRIES!! Im sorry but they are just a terrible version of regular fries which is one of the most universally loved foods in the world. Why mess with that? Same with yuca fries...gtf out of here with that garbage. Or at least give me the option to tell you that I don't want it near my delicious steak!! Why not regular fries? Or a potato that doesn't look like it got a 90s spray tan?! Or a potato that doesn't taste like a sweet & low based pumpkin puree. I'm not begging for the skittles corporation to come out with a savory, buttered potato flavored skittle...so stop trying to make me potatoes that taste like skittles. I love skittles btw...I might actually eat that potato!! But I digress. Lastly, the service was a little rough, slow, saw a lot of people served before us who showed up like 40 minutes after us. But the steak and cheese app were top notch!! read more

What a great night. Steak was incredible. When my wife's came out too well done, but they didn't flinch to replace it, even pouring some extra wine to enjoy with it. Service was top notch. Attentive, friendly and the first we broke cultural norms and tipped in Lisbon. Price was more than reasonable. Warning: it's just a little hard to find with map walking directions, as it is at the back of a plaza between two buildings. Morning the street across from the Casino. Worth it!! read more

The duck is exceptional - the server Pablo (he looks like Emeril the chef) is absolutely a joy! Outstanding service and recommendations. The chocolate mousse may not be presented well but the taste is exceptional! The overall presentation and service is outstanding in this place, it should be highly ranked as a Michelin - if they only cleaned up the marinade and decor - otherwise the food is the best yet in Lisbon!!!! It looks fancier than it is. I got a completely different steak than I ordered, also it wasn't cooked like I asked and included an enormous amount of tough fat (gristle), more then I'm used to. It came with a heap of salt, but strangely the meat was already quite salty. Also bo black pepper was available, which it could really use. Our server didn't ask if everything was ok, nor did we get a chance to ask for an extra drink. My wife's hamburger on the other hand was absolutely terrific, but remember the whole theme of the restaurant revolves around steak, not burgers. Also the pica pau (chunks of meat in buttersauce) was out of this world delicious. Not to go into details but I had to say goodbye to my meal as soon as we arrived at our hotelroom an hour later. Butchers has a great location, a sun-bathed patio and great food - their aged meats are delicious and perfectly grilled, pairing with salad and with crispy sweet potato fries. You'll yum from the first bites. Their sangria - with options for red, white, or sparkling, is also a must, and to end it all they have a great panna cotta that you'll die for. Husband & I are visiting Lisbon, from Brooklyn. This place was underwhelming! I look at the whole experience... Service is maybe even more important than food. Hard to find the entrance. It's visible from the corner but you have to go around the massive building and into a dark courtyard to get inside. I got the burger with fried egg - thought it was pretty good. Good sweet potato fries. Bread and butter - butter came out too hard to spread. Service was awful - servers are standing around talking to one another, or watching the futbol game - not paying attention to their tables, not reading body language. Super bright lights - a little dimming would go a long way. Women's bathroom - doors don't have locks. What you think is a lock, just changes the indicator from "vacant" to "occupied" - in my experience this is not enough. Also, in a roomy restaurant, don't seat a couple on a date, next to a family with a pre-teen boy chewing loudly with his mouth open. Buzz kill. read more

This is a "must visit" restaurant for me every time I come to Lisbon. The aged steaks are tender, flavorful without being over seasoned, and cooked to perfection. I usually get the T-bone, but this most recent trip my waiter recommended the entrecote (rib eye) which was also excellent. The staff is well versed in wines. If you describe the attributes you like and your price range, they will select a label for you to taste. Don't like it? No problem! They will select another and use the first bottle for their Sangria. I have had consistently excellent, friendly service. It is tucked away and a little tricky to find. The easiest way is to find the casino at the Expo, stand with the casino and river at your back, look across the street and up one level. It will be on the right.corner. read more

We enjoyed this place. The New York Steak Sirloin was delicious. The service was excellent. The allowed us to try the wines and help us with our choice. If you not much of a big eater then sharing one plate is sufficient. read more
