Local Roots is such a gem in the Wooster community. I stopped to pick up snacks and lunch on my way…read morehome from a business trip. I would have bought so much more if I had a cooler in my car! Good mix of products and everything I purchased was delicious! I picked up small sourdough loaves, bagels, cheese, and chicken salad. The worker who checked me out was friendly, but I had minimal interactions with their employees.

While in town for Thanksgiving stopped into Local Roots for lunch. Big D's Soul BQ was the vendor…read morefor the day and oh boy was it. I ordered one piece of fish and a New York chicken rice bowl with the red sauce, but I also added a vegan white sauce since I'm dairy free. The chef even gave us a taste of his gumbo which he was selling the next day. The bowl was amazing. Everything was fresh and cooked well. I was really surprised by the size of the piece of fish which was perch as normally perch is not so large. We were joined by a group of family and friends and everyone enjoyed the food from the mac & cheese to the jerk chicken to the fried fish bowl and falafel. If I'm ever back in town, I will definitely stop by. Well, in the shop, I did a little bit of shopping as well and picked up a very cute leaf pottery. I love how it natural it looks, but then it will also match the other leaf pieces I already have. The store has a wide a food on the shelf or in the fridge section plus really pretty crochet, pottery, jewelry, and other items. The store has something for everyone. Finally, we enjoyed the coffee shop which had really delicious lemonades and a number of people in our party also had coffee drink drinks. When back in Wooster this summer for my niece's graduation, I'll be sure to stop in especially if it's a Friday or Saturday for Big D's Soul BQ.

Found myself in Wooster around noon, and needed some lunch. Saw this spot on Yelp and decided to…read moregive it a try! Menu is soups, salads and sandwiches. From the looks of the space, they're a bar by night and lunch spot by day. Really cool old space with original hardwood floors, high cathedral ceilings and rustic charm. Ambiance was on point. Their menu is fairly unique. A number of custom house options that take traditional sandwiches and add stuff you wouldn't necessarily expect. I ended up getting one of their seasonal specials that is a play on a grilled cheese sandwich. It came on toasted, marbled, rye, with feta cheese, fresh, sliced jalapeños, fresh, sliced pineapple, and Swiss cheese. I always love, trying things that combine, savory, sweet, and spicy. So I was hoping for the best with this one, and it delivered. The sandwich came with hot waffle, fries, and a side of ketchup. Shout out to the two people working, as they were completely overwhelmed, but getting food out to tables regardless. I was expecting a pretty long wait time based on the orders ahead of me, but my food came out in under 10 minutes. I was impressed all things considered. My only small complaint is the pricing is just a little bit high for what you get. Especially a grilled cheese. It's just bread, pineapple, jalapeño, and cheese. I don't feel like that should cost $13. I wish the waffle fries came with it for that price. But they were an additional three dollars, as well as three dollars for a fountain drink. After taxes and tip, it was a little over $23. That's a pretty steep price to pay for what was supposed to be a simple lunch. I would definitely come here again, but not on the regular simply based on the high prices.

Butter cake. Is…read morethere anything else that needs to be spoken?!? Butter cake is a thing my dreams are made of. It is warm. It is a beautiful fluffy texture that is saturated with flavor and absolutely melts in your mouth. This place is a fancy restaurant that we snuck into on a day off. We didn't have reservations but were able to be accommodated quickly without one. The steak was good but not anything I feel like needs to be focused on (I know a steak house) I got the delmonico and honestly I wasn't impressed at all. My partners was delicious though so I think it was just a matter of the cut I got. We got the artichoke dip and it was good too but nothing out of this world. But the butter cake. I would pay $65 for a steak I didn't even finish for that butter cake any day of my life. So yes this is a 5 star review of a place I had average (now my average is likely ground breaking food... I am a true food snob) food at and paid $200 for the meal without alcohol, because of the butter cake. Other notes: our server was awesome too and the ambiance is definitely ON POINT! Really lovely place. Unfortunate my steak wasn't better, but I can see that it's a good place and that dessert is top 3 in my life. Loved it!!!

We've been coming to Wooster once a year but have never had time to stop in and try it so, we…read morefinally made it a point to stop in. We ordered 3 of the three combo meat platters. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. The sides were the baked beans, red beans and rice, greens, fried mushrooms, and the mac n cheese. The ribs were cooked nice, some smoke on them, and when you bite into them you left teeth marks which is a good sign for ribs. Maybe just a little more cooking them but either way they were still good. The brisket was good, tender, but they could use some more smoke on them, and I don't know if they have the fatty brisket since they didn't ask us and there was none in there. The fatty brisket is always tender and flavorful if cooked right. The pulled pork could use some more smoke and were a little dry. The sausage tasted really good but they had no smoke flavor and they looked like they were grilled. The mac n cheese looked and tasted like box mac n cheese, not very good or close to it at all. The baked beans tasted really good and the meat in it was flavorful. The red beans and rice was not good at all. The flavor on them was something that I couldn't figure out. Beans should have some souther flavor to them. The greens were just okay as well, they needed some seasiong to them. The fried mushrooms were really good as well.
