When in Rome, act like a Roman, right?…read more But once in awhile, it's kinda nice to have a quick taste of your "norm," even if it's just for a few minutes. Located on one of the busiest streets of Dagupan, Starbucks is a welcoming sight for sore eyes. After running a few errands around the area, it was a good stop to make for something cold and for a snack. Parking was a challenge. There are about 4 spaces up front that can be shared by patrons of all the other establishments in the area. We got lucky to score one of them. We walked in and I immediately liked the open and welcoming space. It was quite inviting. There wasn't a line, so we took our time putting in our orders. Now, I'll admit, a couple of us took a minute to make up our minds, but the cashiers were patient. They also suggested a couple of cakes and pastries. Now, I'm not a sweets person, and I usually just take a bite just to say I tried it, but gotta say the crepe cake was pretty damn good! Good enough for me to eat almost half of it! That, I would recommend. Free WiFi. Place is clean - clutter didn't last longer than a few seconds since someone was always around for immediate clean up. It's a good place to chill. Me likey.

I went here with friends and we got a booth upstairs. It wasn't too loud so I was able to get some studying done. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte and it was good! Maybe kind of pricey it was 160P. Didn't try the food but the cakes are 100 plus for a slice. Come here for the studying environment. It is very cute. I was here on a Friday night and it wasn't completely packed. Hopefully I can go here earlier in the day so I can really study all day here. It is open until 3am! My issue is that there is no wifi...only good thing is that less distractions but sometimes you just need some good wifi while studying. Excited to come back here and study even more :)

But what I love about this cafe is their booths for seating. If you are fond of sitting in the floor or lying down, then this place is for you! It's a great place to hang out with your friends, chill and it is also a great place for study. They have ample electric outlets which make them also a great place to work or charge your gadgets. One downside is that they don't have wifi, which is one of the things I consider for a perfect hangout place. But if you do want to really talk and hangout with your friends, this will be a good place for you.

DELIVERY DURING THE LOCKDOWN: I haven't had any bubble tea…read moreor specialty coffee drinks since the lockdown, so today, we wanted to treat ourselves. We ordered through foodpanda and it arrived safe and sound without any spillage. They did an excellent job taping up the cups and securing it in the bag with a cardboard holder. Extra points for having the straw in a sealed plastic wrapper. I was happy with my ice blended mocha drink; it had good flavor and it wasn't overly sweet. I will definitely order from them again. BEFORE THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: What a lovely place to chill! Lots of different seating options: from comfy lounge chairs and half booths, to outdoor wicker chairs shaded with patio umbrellas. Staff are friendly and work hard keeping the place clean. They can be seen washing windows and wiping down tables. Menu isn't extensive, but they do have a good variety. Their iced teas are very mild; but I did enjoy their floral teas (Southern Blend & Pomegranate Blueberry). Next time, I'll request that they steep the tea longer. I appreciate that they are light handed in adding sweetener. I had a slice of their chocolate cake which was too dense, and had frosting that was too sugary sweet. If it's not too hot, the second floor patio is an excellent place to escape the crowd. There are lots of patio umbrellas to shade you from the sun, and you can see all the way to the mountains. The hum of the traffic and the occasional buzzing from an airplane were relaxing sounds, as my hubby and I enjoyed each other's company. Looks like people like to work/study here. This one person had set up an entire work station on one table, and even brought in their own extension cord to hook up all their electronics. Located in the Clark Auto Zone Plaza, look for the red Kia Motors sign, they're on the opposite end. If you get hungry, there's a Yellow Cab and Pancake House next door.

If you're on the road up North in Rosario, La Union, and looking to eat somewhere that's not a Chowking/Mang Inasal/local Filipino cuisine, and a place that has a bit more flair, check out S.O.U.L. Café. While on our way to Baguio, we only accidentally stumbled upon this cafe only because we were supposed to eat at the Chowking across it, and it had no available parking spaces. Haha. This place is very easy to miss, so spot the 7-Eleven by the gas station at Rosario. This place has a laid back, bohemian vibe filled with artworks, wall paintings, like a cafe you would usually expect to be beside the beach. But it's not. It's on La Union's main road! They have some good selections on their menu if you're veering away from local, traditional fare. Their dishes are something you would expect to see in a restaurant in trendier places in Makati or BGC, but in reasonable prices. For vegans, get the Hummus Pasta (sans shrimp). It is pretty good, but the hummus-basil ratio is 1:4 which can be a bit disappointing. For a refreshing drink, you have to get their Lemon Green, which is a basil and lemon slushie that's going to make your day. Downside: Service is a bit slow and they're quite understaffed, and the server didn't seem too knowledgeable about their dishes, though.
