We were in Kernersville running some errands and had just gotten some pastries from a local place and some coffee from another (see other reviews). In a cute little brick center off Main Street, you will find this quaint shop that has a lot to offer. We weren't really looking for it, but more or less stumbled upon it, which in life sometimes will turn up the best surprises. When we entered, we were greeted by Anne, who told us all about the shop and that they have prepared meals done by a local chef with locally sourced ingredients. All of that sounded really great and we love to support businesses that adhere to locally sourced and support other businesses. While walking around the shop, I noticed that they had all kinds of gourmet-based items, like salts and seasonings. We picked up some squid ink pasta that my son would cook that night and also a few different local garlic bulbs that turned out to be a real hit when he cooked that pasta. Anne pointed out that there were a great many items that either were locally sourced or imported based on the type of item. She was a gem of warmth and information, and we appreciated the time she took to talk with us. I think this is a place that a great many different types of customers could find very interesting. With excellent service like Anne's, I enjoyed my time there.

Really cool gourmet specialty food shop in this adorable part of kernersville. It was a treat to walk in here today and be greeted by Anne. She was so knowledgeable of all the products and it's just so sweet and kind. Very easy to talk to her. They have ready made gourmet food from stuffed pasta to specialty soups. She gave the good idea that you can purchase these maybe for someone if you don't feel like cooking and you want to drop off a meal that is special. They even had local special grown garlic you can buy, even spicy garlic which I never heard of. I purchased a few and look forward to cooking up. I even bought Black ink squid pasta since I've never had it in my life and I've just seen it in cooking shows. There were also pimento cheese dips that they're known for, and specialty jams. It's definitely worth coming in here.

Great little spot for wine and lovely prepared food. I recommend the layered salad! The wine samples are a really nice touch.

They have a weekly menu of fresh prepped ready to reheat meals - usually a meat and starch and salad.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.

The waitress was friendly and polite, and the place itself was nice and clean. It was a little loud inside, but nothing too crazy. I get takeout from here pretty often, and the food is always consistently good. I didn't get it this time, but I love their grilled Thai shrimp--it's definitely one of my favorites! Definitely one of my go-to spots!

Every time I have visited, the staff are so friendly! From the flower area lady, to the deli man and finally the checkout staff everyone is accommodating and kind. They always speak to my girls when I have them with me and ask me about me day! This location has an excellent selection of items and if items are out of stock for pickup they do a great job with substituting. The flowers here last FOREVER. The lady that is regularly working the flower area treats the flowers with such care and it's evident in their quality. Two of my favorite things are the free cookies for kids are always stocked and my kids love them! Secondly, the patron with child parking is such a plus. I love that they honor our veterans with veteran parking as well. The store is very clean and well laid out. The produce is always top notch with some local selections as well! And as always, wine selection at Harris teeter is always top notch! Fuel points for BP gas and coupons here are a plenty as well so don't be deterred by those that say HT is overpriced!

No management showed up to help direct. And no additional registers were opened. The second being the online I placed, where one of the items was unavailable. I had opted in for text alerts...no alert came for the missing item. No email. No call. No warning. I showed up to the store expecting my items, only to be told "I don't know why everyone is ordering these we've been out for days". Between trash tier management, a subpar at best website, and atrocious customer service....this company has lost my money entirely. I hope to see you go under like Lowes did. I'll be there with fireworks when it happens.

Established in 1767, the mill is still operating today, which makes it feel like more than just a tourist stop. When we entered, a woman greeted us and explained how the mill works. After that, we headed into the shop, where they had all kinds of flours and baking mixes. I was impressed by how reasonable the prices were and ended up buying a few different flours to try at home. It was a simple but really enjoyable stop, and I'm glad we took the time to visit.

They are open daily from 9am to 5pm. When you drive down the short gravel entrance, there is a historical marker describing some of the history including that the Old Mill of Guilford is among the oldest operating gristmills in the United States. The building and surrounding structures show the weather of time and are also very small especially when you compare with the commercial buildings of the present. There is a small porch with things to look at and ponder. The large water supply pipe going to the mill has lots of holes in it from years of use and rust. It does not appear that it has been in use for some time. We were greeted as soon as we opened the door by two ladies who were bagging flour. The older woman proceeded to tell us about the operation of the mill. She came closer and pointed out some of the pieces of the operation and showed us the small bucket elevator. Everything appeared very primitive and is still in operation from many years ago. There is a small shop to the right after you walk through part of the mill where they sell products they produce as well as other gift items. They ship throughout the US. We perused our way through the store and selected a few items to purchase. I am anxious to make the chocolate chip cookies with the mix that we bought. This was a really cool unanticipated experience. We never would have thought there was a place like this where it was. You should check it out!
