Their board game library is still growing, but it's of a pretty good size already. They also have wargaming tables, and are making new terrain all the time. Personally, I got into the hobby as a way to escape a lot of those tensions. I have shopped at critical hit games for a couple years, have gamed there on several occasions. Never once heard an uttering of political rhetoric from employees or staff. That's the way it should be. If I know your political affiliations (whatever they may be) 5 minutes after stepping foot in your store, you're doing it wrong. Haven't been back since and tell people I know to stay away. I go out of my way to stay away from this place.

They had a large store with clearly labeled although crowded, aisles of comic, anime, cartoon, manga, clothing, and other items. This store is clearly a comic book lovers dream with a library of new and vintage ones that were for sale. They even had a basement area filled with comic books to purchase in bulk and video games to play. All in all, if you are looking for a specific comic book, manga merch, anime merch, Funko Pops and the like to add to your collection, this store is a must visit.

Located in the Hampden section of Bmore, Atomic Books would easily satisfy the inner book nerd in you (*raises hand...). Upon entering, the ambiance was chill with music playing over the speaker with just enough volume to not get in the way of perusing the incredible book collection. The books are sectioned according to genre, which makes for ease in looking for a specific topic. They have a magazine section as well with titles you won't find in an ordinary newsstand (a magazine titled "Bomb"?.... I'm impressed). The cost of the books varied, but was not so to bust your budget. They also have a selection of comic books in addition to t-shirts and items with the Atomic Books logo. The staff were pleasant and customers who came in seemed to be locals supporting a great small business. I liked that. And don't forget I mentioned a bar....located in the rear....serving adult libations. Can you imagine yourself purchasing a favorite book and settling in at one of the seats in the bar sipping on your favorite drink? Or playing the video game back there? I could and would have...if I had the time! All in all, a cool neighborhood bookstore/bar to chill out, grab a book, and a drink.

I decided to get back into mtg recently and went to one of their events, they're sanctioned so you get planeswalker points for them, and people there not only were helping me make decks and answering questions, but also gave me commons out of their booster packs to help me build a good starting collection. The only criticism I have of the store at all is that their inventory wasn't huge, but they have most anything you'll want or need, and it leaves a large part (around 2/3rds) of the store area for tables to play. The shop was clean and well organized, and I have a lot of respect for the owner dedicating so much to provide a friendly and open environment for l gamers. They even have employees go to the local library with games and teach how to play them. I have to say I haven't found a more open and friendly environment to game, and you can tell the owner is a gamer that appreciates bringing the joy of gaming to others. I will gladly be driving the 40 minutes to this store over closer shops and I could not recommend them more highly.
