Dr. David Dinklage was referred by a friend whose daughter took another assessment with him. Dr. Dinklage responded to my inquiry email promptly and offered the WISC-V assessment at a more affordable rate than two other psychologists in the area. He was able to schedule within two weeks. He was nice and made my daughter feel at ease. He also emailed me a report on the results on the same day that she took the test. His report was insightful and sufficient for the school since they approved it. I was happy with the service and recommend him!

Their offices in Arlington are a bit of a trek for those using public transportation, but the quality of care is excellent. Some clinicians even offer nighttime appointments which help for those trying to come after work. The only con is that the offices are a bit dated and I hate calling in to an automated telephone system. They take care of all billing and are very responsive. I originally became a patient as my PCP had difficulty understanding the drug interactions of some medications. I wanted to coordinate my care so that one doc could manage my medications and therapy in one visit. Unfortunately, therapy and med management are separate visits. However, it was nice to finally have both docs under the same roof! Plus, the docs I saw weren't not only knowledgeable, but they were also kind and accommodating. Dr. Orleck (psychotherapy) is has a peaceful demeanor, and is caring and compassionate. She offers real-world advice that helps inspire and reassure you at the same time. Dr. Onofrei provides ADHD assessments via questionnaire and office visits. There were a total of 3 visits, lasting about 1hr each. Without his assessment their doctors cannot prescribe ADDHD meds. Dr. O is another kind soul who you instantly feel comfortable with. He offers 8pm appointments for those who work late. Dr. Simkowitz is very knowledgeable about drug interactions, has flexible scheduling (i.e. Early AM), and responds instantly to any email questions you may have. I felt reassured having him manage all my medications. If you're in Cambridge/Arlington area, then I'd def recommend checking out PCA.

If we can't get scheduling under control I'm not super confident in the output of putting my mental health in the hands of Psychological Care Associates. I filled out the form at the suggestion of my OBGYN, who recommended I talk with someone about a few post-partum issues that I had been having. The form was comprehensive and I was thrilled to get a call later that day! ...to my dismay, the admin who called me (who was very polite and who I enjoyed speaking with) was apologetic about not being able to work around my schedule. The rub is that they could not commit to a consistent time/day of the week for my appointments! I told them I could be flexible and available any time on Fridays or Tuesdays. When she called me back (after confirming with the director), she confirmed that they would not be able to give me consistent days/times, and couldn't even be sure they'd be able to give me enough advanced notice to make sure I could clear my work schedule! (And for what it's worth, I have a flexible work schedule with generous work from home time, and even then that was not enough.) For a practice that touts its' ability to help new mothers or working parents, this practice has shown shockingly little interest in being scheduling-friendly. On my second call, the admin was asked to refer me to their sister practice in *Lexington* - as Lexington had more availability - even though I live in Stoneham and work in Kendall Square in Cambridge and am already struggling with scheduling this appointment with any sort of week-to-week consistency, let alone tacking a 30-m drive on top of it. At the end of the call they were so unable to help me that I left with more anxiety than I started with, and I decided to look elsewhere for assistance.

She instantly knew exactly what was happening and was able to give multiple treatment options to progress forward. We started with the least impactful to much more intense hormonal treatments. She has been there through each of my areas of my health and is a personable, caring and extremely compassionate Dr. She has excellent bed-side manner which you don't always find these days. I appreciate her detailed notes and keeping track of all of my medical problems. She gave me extreme support in my hormonal treatment including helping me through IVF and back into a menopausal state. Her expertise is excellent in women's health and she leaves any ego at the door. If she can't find the answer she goes on to her resources through different people spanning from MGH to BWH to McLean and more to make sure she can help you the most. I am extremely appreciative and grateful to have her as a Dr. and recommend her to others looking for a compassionate and caring women's health doctor and psychiatrist.

However, i am safely relocated and free of everything that happened, so in that light I am writing this to warn others..... It's funny how "nice" these people seem at first. After convening with others who knew Dr. P (which I called her rather affectionately for years, oddly enough) I know now I am not alone. When I first met her I found her way too abrupt, but otherwise she seemed nice enough. I noted her clipped manner on the phone (I timed her calls at 15 seconds average), which was super annoying but I put up with that, too. She invariably told me to "take a PRN" and hung up. Care, if you could call it that, got notably worse after Pearson left McLean and I saw her at the Wang 815 clinic (oh, the memories of that place!). She took fastidious notes, even quoting what I said. Then maybe six months later, or so, she'd take those notes out and quote me completely out of context to prove her point, or hold something against me. I could have sued for irresponsible drugging over the years. The list is so lengthy I don't want to bore you all with the technicalities too much. She stood by and did nothing when I gained 110 pounds from Seroquel, 600, then 900 mgs. She urged me to "diet and exercise." I went to the gym as she told me but due to rapid weight gain my knee gave out and I ended up in a wheelchair. I kept gaining till I got off the stuff. I have never been psychotic and I have never been manic. "Happy" is not manic. Being excited about life isn't mania. Pacing, which is a side effect of drugs, is not mania. I was never bipolar. Actually, what happened was that my normal mood were pathologized over a period of decades. I was given three antipsychotics, all at the highest possible dose, plus three mood stabilizers, plus more. This was questioned by other professionals, too, but like a good patient I was I worshipped Dr. P. In my eyes must have been right. I had some serious side effects from the drugs which were commonly known adverse effects. Of course, the weight gain (she denied this). Another side effect I had was double vision. She had me on an unheard-of dose of Lamictal, 600 a day, and, I must say, very dangerous. She insisted if I didn't take it I'd become "unstable." Here's what happened....She denied that that the double vision was even possible! Then, one day, finally, my body couldn't take it anymore. I guess the stuff got toxic in my system. I literally collapsed and couldn't get off the floor! I lay there, knowing I'd only get told I was faking it should I call 911. I waited it out, then thankfully I was able to identify Lamictal as the problem, and stopped it. The funniest thing was in 2011 I was given Trileptal, which caused the very common side effect of "swaying" on my feet. This is from ataxia, which is one of the most common adverse effects. Also, I was mentally confused from the drug. I was stupid enough to think the confusion was "illness." Oh, hindsight..... I was shocked that again, Pearson denied that it was even possible that ataxia was a side effect! When I told her I wanted to stop the drug or lower it....(please laugh)....she told me "You can't do that! You'll become unstable!" I stopped the Trileptal and was far more stable on my feet. Thanks, psychiatry!!!! In 2008 I had to fire a psychotherapist I was seeing in Cambridge for multiple ethical violations. After much consideration, I realized I had to end it. However, when this got back to Dr. P, she was furious at me for firing the therapist. One evening, during all this ridiculousness, the crisis team was at my house and Pearson called me and yelled at me over the phone so loudly and with such venom that the crisis team heard the whole thing through my landline. They were shocked. I recall one person said, "Oh my god, that's your psychiatrist?" Why was I so stupid to keep seeing her? Probably because I just didn't know any better. Or couldn't think of anything else to do. In 2010 i ended up with a narcissistic therapist and went through hell with her. I was put into Massachusetts General Hospital where, for the first time in my life, I was so badly abused that I had a trauma reaction. They had deprived me of water. I have DI (diabetes insipidus) from lithium. If you deny fluids to a person with DI they can die of dehydration!!!! They treated me like an animal. She called me psychotic and delusional when all I was trying to do was tell her I had been abused. I believe Dr. Pearson was required by mandatory reporting laws to DO SOMETHING and not assume her patients are delusional. I wish I had sued. I've been told I could have phoned the police on her and the others who claimed I was a nutcase. By the way, I relocated, ditched the diagnoses, totally recovered from ED and have a great life now.

He was a great doctor and, more importantly, a fundamentally decent man. Unlike many mental health professionals, he genuinely cared about his patients. He was the rare psychiatrist who acted as both a prescriber and a therapist, generously giving his time and attention. He was eccentric, no doubt - not everyone's cup of tea - but if you clicked with him, he was gold. My only regret is that I didn't meet him earlier in his life so I could have known him longer.

I'll never forget what he said to me on those many occasions I was in his office. "We'll get through this together" I clung to those words with all the strength I could muster and the belief that this man could help me. Since then he has seen the best and worst of me and went out of his way to help me every time. Contrary to another review, I have experienced the man at his most compassionate and caring - he really gives a crap, unlike one or two shrinks that I've had the unfortunate experience of working with. The program is highly individual, and may not be the best fit for everyone (as is true of all mental health programs), but was a very good fit for me. They support harm reduction and not abstinence-only treatments for substance use, and there are a lot of activities in the community.
