I goggled "pie near me " and the Purple Mountain Bakery popped up! I accessed their website and the cheesecake pics sold me! I called and the owner walked me through the order procedure! I ordered my pie and picked it up the next day. We were delighted! Best pie I can remember eating in many years. Had another family over to share the bounty! Coffee and pie was a great way to brighten up a grey day in the Fort. You must understand that quality is not inexpensive. A bit pricey but worth it! Give them a call. The Magic Wand is a place stuck in time and that is what makes it so special. The staff are awesome, and the food is exactly what it should be for a diner like the Magic Wand. I am once again in the Churubusco area for work and it was lunch time. I decided I would run across the street and enjoy a breaded tenderloin. The inside has not changed one bit from the last time I was there. Counter service with stools and booths everywhere else. The clowns still dominate the shelves, and the exterior still reminds me of the 50's & 60's. I am a sucker for a breaded tenderloin and the Magic Wands are pretty good. It may not have been as big as it was a few years ago but it was still delicious. Maybe I will try other things on the menu. Small steps... small steps. Go on a day trip to Churubsco this weekend for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You won't be disappointed!
