Make a reservation on line, come on in at your time, they will give you a tutorial, and then some practice time. It is all in the wrist... and then start your games. It is like a big game of darts. I have yet to get beat where I have not let someone win. (Date, my sons, and so on) The prices are not cheap but it is a lot of fun! BTHAT was really fun! They have game extensions past the basics of axe throwing- like Connect Four, Jenga, 21, and so on. The venue is spartan, but nice enough, and the staff are friendly and helpful! We truly enjoyed ourselves for our first time axe throwing. I want to mention that while we had made a reservation for six, we were unable to bring 2 of our people with us. I did not ask for a refund on the other two people. I suppose I could have. However, as this was a birthday event, and I wanted things to go smoothly and easily, I didn't bother. Also, the reservation that I made was for a single lane with the 2 axe throwing targets. When we arrived, there wasn't anyone else there. I'm not sure if it was just because there was no one there, or if they were just being nice in general, but they allowed us to use 2 lanes with 4 axe throwing targets and that made it even more fun! They brought out popcorn for everyone and had a fridge-bar with some canned drinks and snacks. I really didn't take any pictures, but I definitely intend to come back. So, next time; I promise. We saw this in Vegas but didn't go inside. Since I have a persistent cousin, I guess today we're going in for a looksie. When I first heard the term "axe throwing" I took it literally and it conjured up some interesting images. For starters, it's a hatchet, not an axe. Hence the name "Bury the Hatchet". Ok first of all, who Knew that hatchet throwing would be so fun?!? And who knew I would be so good at it? Well, at least until the pressure was on. We came in and were greeted right away and after singing our waivers (of course) we got a little bit of training. I was doing fantastic by the way. Our trainer was so on point and all of the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. After we got our training, we had a little practice time...in which I was still doing fantastic by the way. After a little while of practice, our trainer introduced a couple of his favorite games. Thank goodness my best friend was the complete opposite of me and when the pressure was on, she carried the team to victory. I mean most of the time anyways. My first time axe throwing and based on this experience I'd definitely do it again. Came with a friend who had been here before and spoke highly of it. When I arrived, my friend was late so I grabbed a beer and observed other groups. All the beers were reasonably priced and they come with a free snack (chips, cookies, crackers,etc). When my friend arrived, we purchased an hour of play which was $70. We got a quick tutorial and started playing. It was a good time and an hour was the perfect amount of time to perfect the skill. I had family visiting around Thanksgiving and we were looking for an activity to do together. We decided on axe throwing, and Bury The Hatchet seemed like they would offer the best experience. We had 6 people and we booked a reservation for a Saturday at 4:45. We decided to do a 2 hour window rather than 1, just to make sure we had plenty of time to play. It's a nice place and feels like it's all laid out very safely. They also have a bar that offers cans of beer, cider, seltzers, and they were offering popcorn and a drink for $5 (I'm not sure if this was a special thing or if they always have this). For this visit, I was able to find a Groupon to discount the price slightly. It was about $35 per person total. I do suggest tipping the staff member that is there to help you, too! Ours was very thorough and friendly, and he even came back throughout our time there to offer tips to improve our throwing. We had a lot of fun axe throwing here! This place is super duper pricey. Psst. Groupon... And the minimum reservation time slot you can reserve for is 2 hours. It does sort of make sense after visiting the place though... Word of advice, don't have too many people per group. Like bowling, the more you have, the less you get to play. Even if this factor doesn't make much difference, you'll have at least more practice opportunities. Unsure if the Axe Master changes it up a bit depending on the # of people though. i.e. A longer tournament. The Axe Master will be there the entire duration to keep an eye on everyone, providing throwing tips, and creating a flow from one session to another. With a group of 8, there were 4 rounds with practice opportunities in between. Round 1 is the practice phase where you get your hands dirty. Round 2 is more practice but using only one hand. Round 3 is used to rank you for the tournament. Round 4 is the bracket tournament against your teammates. There's a bar there so some drinking might help a bit ladies. It's honestly not scary; it's just the first few times throwing a weapon is sort of frightening. You might have sweaty palms and shake a bit, but it's totally safe if you follow the instructions. Ooh. Use the iPad that's on the furthest left (nearest the wall) to sign the waiver as the other two seemed to be less responsive to the touch. Parking is a fight for a spot since Bury The Hatchet is right beside The Sipping Plant. Luckily, they have an overflow parking down the hill on the right hand side. A word of caution about the one little spot near the fence beside the billboard that says "compact." Do not drive your car too forward as the hub's front bumper was literally damaged... I can imagine a Mini Cooper type vehicle to fit just fine, but a Civic sedan... Um. Be cautious. read more

Bury The Hatchet makes you feel like kicking axe and taking names! You'll walk out feeling like a total bad-axe! Came here for a little double date night fun with another couple. We purchased our tickets through Groupon and made a reservation online for 6:45pm on a Saturday. We arrived around 6:30. Parking is limited especially around that time since the lot is shared between other businesses. However, we were able to find a spot near the front. Overflow parking is available at the next shopping center. The place was BUSY when we walked in. The space is big and houses several "lanes." Picnic tables and benches are in the middle of the room and you are allowed to bring food and/or have food delivered and dine inside. BTH serves snacks and drinks including beer. Having been here before, I knew that we had to sign our lives away through waivers on the iPads to the right of the entrance. There was a short line for the waivers, but didn't take long before it was our turn. After you sign the waivers, you check in at the front desk and they assign you with an instructor, AKA Axe Master. Ours was Maverick. Maverick was knowledgeable, helpful, and funny. He went over the rules and safety precautions and demonstrated proper form. Each lane has a log with three different size axes, two of each as well as two targets. Two players may go at the same time. Once we got the hang of throwing, Maverick started us with individual rounds. You can score up to 10, which is a "Kill Shot" on your 10th try, but you have to call it out before throwing. Otherwise, the most you can get is a 6, which is the bullseye. Throughout the night, we played several fun games with options of team/pairs or individual scoring. We played for two hours, which I think is the perfect amount of time. It allows you to play several games, practice or try out other axes as well as practice/try throwing with one arm. BTH is super fun and fantaxetic option for date night or getting some friends together for a friendly competition. I highly recommend it! read more

I came here on Thursday night wanting to try something new and indeed, I did! A couple of my friends have been here previously and spoke highly of their experience, so I figured it would be a fun time. We received a warm welcome upon entering from our axe master, Juan. He was extremely energetic and talked us through different ways of throwing the axes and some games we could play to practice our new skills. I got my axe kicked in our games :P but I had an amazing time! There were other games to play nearby like Jenga and they had snacks, beer, and wine. You also get a free snack with each drink purchase (probably a good idea to make sure people do not get too drunk while throwing axes). A couple friends came to town. Our outdoor adventures were halted due to rain. I checked into indoor activities and came across axe throwing. I had heard about it, but had never done it. My friends were up for it, so we decided to try it. First impression was the call to make a reservation. They were friendly and explained the check-in process as they practice COVID safety. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly greeted and check-in. I liked having an an instructor.... I'm sure I gave him a hard time (with a smile of course).....as it took me forever to anchor the axe on the board for the first time. My friends however were hitting bullseyes! Came here for a work outing and not going to lie.. this was actually a lot more fun than I thought. There was catchy alternative rock music playing with a small bar that offered beer and snacks (Not sure if I would feel comfortable drinking alcohol and throwing axes haha). I was a little nervous, prob bc I hyped myself up too much by watching all those crazy online videos, but our Axe Master (Sammy?) was so sweet and helpful. There were 3 different types of hatchets/axes - small, medium, large - and in the beginning, we were able to get our feet wet with practice throws. After that, we began a tournament that kept score of what we were able to hit, think of it like darts kind of, but with axes. It was fun to see all my co-workers and management in a different light. After the tournament, we went bracket style, and that was probably the best part. Nothing like a good old friendly competition, elimination style of course. We must have spent close to 2 hours doing all of this with a group of 6. We went here because we found a great Groupon for it and it was a blast! Definitely a solid place to visit especially if you have some pent up frustrations to release :-) Once you walk in, there will be a desk that you fill out waivers out and they scan your license. There are couches in front as well because they take people back in groups so it can be a 10-15 minute wait like ours was sometimes. After everyone has signed a waiver and the axe space is free, your group leader takes you back and explains how everything is going to flow. It is essentially a competition in which only two can go at once and you can go with the person/people you brought first to get acquainted before you start the competition. There are multiple types/styles/sizes of axe and your group leader explains all of them, as well as how to hold/throw the axe. We got to meet some great people and spend a couple of hours "exercising" in a different way. Super fun spot for family as well as a friends/coworker outing! read more

I hate I missed other opportunities to attend events at this business, because I somehow thought it wouldn't be fun. What was I thinking?!? Seriously folks, this is worth checking out. I came here with 3 other people, and had a blast. You are paired with others up to I think 12 people. We had about 10-12 in our group anyway. They have long picnic style tables set up so you can bring your own food and drinks as long as it's not alcohol. They do offer beer and wine for purchase and some small snack items as well. After filling out the waiver, you get set up with your group and start the throw down. First, you go in pairs, and the axe master stands between the two to give advice on how to throw. I figured it can't be too hard to actually make the axe stick, but I was truly wrong. I think I'm pretty strong, but it's all about the skills of which apparently I didn't have much going there. I was disappointed in my axe throwing, and I had to set aside my competitiveness to just enjoy the game. And once I did that, I had so much fun. It just lots of talking smack, well not me, but the ones who actually did well. For some reason, my bf has mad skills in axe throwing. Who knew? He hit six bulls eyes in practice alone! At the end you start with the lowest scoring people like me and then have a bracket game like March Madness and you end up with a champion. He won the whole thing! He was so far ahead he actually went for the kill shot at the end, which gives you ten extra points. We actually ended up with a really fun group which definitely helped things, too. I loved that we could bring in our own food, and the drinks were not expensive at all if you wanted a beer or wine. What a fun place to hit if you want different, and this is definitely out there. After a 2 hour long session, I now understand the hype around axe throwing. What can I say, I had an AXEcellent time! I purchased a Groupon and received an additional 25% off- aka a deal that I could not pass up. I spent $30 for 2 people to go axe throwing for 2 hours. Now I'm not sure everyone else will be able to find such a deal, but it doesn't hurt to check out Groupon before purchasing. When you get there they make you sign a waiver and wait for the rest of the individuals in your time slot to arrive. There were 8 people total in our group. For the first 10 minutes we received a safety overview, the next 20-30 minutes we received lessons, and for the final hour and a half we had a competition against each other. Let me just say just because you kick butt one round does not mean you will the next. Lots of practice is definitely needed before you become a pro! I'll be back :) read more

Paid $80+ for two hours for two people So my friend was in town and we had 8 people. He wanted to do this and I saw a Groupon for it. Unfortunately, I still had to pay a reservation fee even though my friend reserved a time slot. So the Groupon saves you like $4 after the fees. It's $40 for two hours. I had a Groupon that I paid $70 for two people. Then I paid $12 for a reservation fee. I think I saved money? Does the normal price of $40 include the reservation fee? The sign in process sucked. Each of the three iPads had issues and loaded very slowly. They should just have an online form and check-in process like any climbing gym. With 8 people, we finished 5 min before the two-hour mark. Also, we had to tip. The alcohol was decently priced and included popcorn but the popcorn maker was down. I wouldn't have enjoyed playing as much without alcohol. Having an "axe master" watch your every move was ok. I thought they were kind of unnecessary after the learning phase but I can understand why they need one to watch you at all times; axes and alcohol. Overall, it was fun but I also would've preferred a smaller group. Maybe 6 people max. Would they even allow that? It was a fun experience but I don't have the salary to support this hobby. Can I bring my own axe? Rock climbing costs me $17. Bowling costs me $4 on Mondays. Dancing only costs me my dignity. Would I come here again? Nope. It was a fun experience but I would never come back. It's expensive but could be worth it with a good group. I could also get two axes and a pallet from Home Depot for the $80 I paid. read more

It's a great place to have some fun with friends, maybe a little competition, and honestly you'll get a work out too! Make sure you aim the axe at the wood target and not the crowd behind you and if you can do that, you're good as gold. There's a few different games you can play and the axe masters are very good at keeping you entertained. When you first walk into BTH, you immediately sign a waiver because this is dangerous and you can get hurt so JUST BE CAREFUL! The ambience is nice, although it was a little bright which I'm sure there's a reason for.
