What a cute store! Love the airy feel and clean organization. Clothes in the center; clean, simple toys all around; and stuffed animals in the back. Arranged by age and specializing in the unique, wooden toys (not the battery powered music and sound boxes). Found a super cute wooden paper doll set for a birthday girl (magnetized wooden pieces so you can switch around outfits, so so so cute). Also loved the carved crayons (to look like zoo animals) and temporary tattoo bracelets (so chic!). I actually looked up some of the toys on Amazon while I was there (always looking for a bargain!), and found I'd save only a few dollars online, so I don't think this place is that overpriced. Super cute! I stopped by when we were exploring the neighborhood. I loved the wooden toys, the cute outfits and the Little Golden books. This place is fine for a relatively cheap gift for yourself or a friend but do not buy any jewelry here. Poor quality and worse customer service. I bought a $180 ring and after 4-6 weeks of light wear the gem fell out. I brought it back to ask about a replacement or repair and the girl behind the counter could not help me in any way. They get a rotating stock of jewelry and do not keep track of their stock or suppliers. My exact ring was not there and I was treated like I was making up the whole thing - I could not get a replacement, repair, refund, store credit or the details of the original maker to ask them about my options. I basically threw $180 away at this store and was treated like a potential con artist for the privilege. The girl working took my details and said she'd have the manager call me but this never happened. read more

The customer service is horrifying. In front of a dozen customers here's how this scene played out at Burro today: My husband received a gift from an acquaintance. Now, exactly how many of you would actually feel comfortable going up to someone at a gift exchange and actually asking the "gifter" for a gift receipt? Would you be like, "Hey, I hate your gift and am so returning it in the morning, so can I have the receipt?" Or would you think, "Oh, I know it's from Burro, where we buy all the time and we saw those candle holders right in the front of the store last week. We know they cost $11.25 each and all we want to do is exchange them." They are wrapped in Burro's wrapping and their signature tissue. So we walk up to the counter and the sales associate abruptly says, "Oh we can't return them without a gift receipt!" My husband politely tells her that they were a gift. She says that she can't possibly look up a price on these and that we must have a gift receipt to return them. I explain that the exact candle holders are right in my hand with the price tags. (I've just picked them up from the counter.) "But those aren't the ones you're returning," she mechanically replies. You need a gift receipt. At this point my husband is starting to go into "I'm totally going to lose it mode" so I tell the girl that this is very bad business. All I want to do is a $22.50 exchange and buy something else; no money lost to them. She continues to repeat the same phrase over and over again. Finally she asks me if I would like to take the candle holders with me. That's not really what I wanted to do with them, but since I'm nice, I did. I'm sorry, but they have now lost my business, over a stupid gift receipt. read more

Lindsey expertly helped us out with our purchases for a 2-year old and we had a blast chatting with her. She really knew all the stock (including sizing, very important in kid world!) The service here is WAY better than next door at the mainline shop Burro. Don't get wrong, they have a really great curated selection of kid toys. I've come here plenty of times, and pretty much due to the location and the quality of gifts that are available, it has become the default place to pick up a last-minute well-received present. Whew. However, I dock two stars soley because of the service. On the occasions that I've been here, the quality of service has been severely lacking. The merchandise is overpriced at it is--at least grant me the courtesy of decent customer service. The basics: acknowledge someone coming in, ask if they need help, etc. On top of that, what I wanted to objectively comment on is: you obviously offer complimentary gift wrapping to your well-endowed patrons with overzealous enthusiasm, I've seen it. But you seem kind of put out when a normal person asks about and requests it, I've experienced it. Aside from this, I'll still probably come back if my laziness gets the better part of me and I'm in a bind for another gift; I'll just be better prepared for what I'm in store for and not let it get to me when I leave feeling unappreciated. This place is tons of fun. I stop in every time I'm around Abbot Kinney just to check it out. They have all kinds of fun coffee table books, including one on "How to Live With a Huge Penis". They also have a TON of really great cook books with lots of options for vegetarians and vegans as well as meat eaters. The rest is filled with little household knick knacks and candles. Not too much useful stuff (other than the cook books and maybe some of the coffee table books), but really fun to look at if you're around. read more

I love Firefly! They always have interesting, lovely and unique things. I could easily blow my budget here every time I walk in, just buying neat stuff for myself, but I try to keep it in check. It's a great store for cards and gifts, the people are friendly, and I love buying from locally owned stores. I recently had a great experience with their service. I needed to buy a last-minute gift from Kid Firefly, but it had closed 10 minutes before I got there. One of the nice ladies at Firefly (Vanessa, I think) walked me to Kid Firefly and waited patiently while I picked out the gift. In need of a last minute children's gift, my husband & I decided to check out this shop this past Friday afternoon. The shop is beautiful. Bright, well laid out selection of the cool & cute. Very spendy, but you're sure to find something special & unique. The reason for my rating of two stars, and ultimately our decision to head elsewhere to shop, was the extremely poor service of the staff. We walked into the store where there were a couple other people browsing. Two sullen teens sat behind the counter completely ignoring everybody, one chomping away at her salad. As we were browsing, they loudly began a conversation with each other- "How can I get out of babysitting? I agreed to babysit & I just got invited to a birthday party" This in a children's store? Such a shame, because the owner obviously put a lot of thought & care into their shop. We left immediately and went elsewhere for our gifts. read more

Loved my experience here. I have never been shopping for baby clothes without my parents but for the first time have a friend who gave birth to a baby girl. First, the woman at the cash register invited my pup inside who was outside with my boyfriend allowing him to help me choose an outfit. She was very helpful, showed us a few pieces and made conversation, everything you want in a shopping experience. Extremely rude customer service and on small business Saturday?! I tried to exchange some onesies that I received as a gift and was told it was over the two weeks. I didn't know there was a length of time it's only been 4 weeks and I am not asking for money back if anything I was planning on spending more money at the store. Instead the woman with blond hair that works there tells me that I can try selling the onesies on eBay. I don't understand don't they want to have loyal customers come back to spend money. Cute new shop in Westlake Village! Kind of thrown off by baby section near front door. It sends out a confusing image, particularly since there is a table in the back with books for weed enthusiasts. This store has potential because there are pockets of inspiration and some unique gifts but they might currently have more square footage than they need because books are grouped and also spread throughout in what seems to be an effort to fill the store The abundance of books makes me nervous since books are a dying market. Despite that I bought a couple of novelty books for gifts because everyone needs something to dust even if their noses are always pressed into their smartphones and tablets. Think the store might be improved by stocking some clothing with a bit more substance. You probably can't have too many gauzy fabrics in Venice and Malibu but this is suburbia and the median age for shoppers in this center is probably a bit older and possibly even Republican. Hope they tweak the inventory a bit to keep it interesting as they get a better feel for this market. Would like to see the store succeed in this nicely remodeled center. read more

The sales people are MEAN and RUDE. This is twice now that I spent big money here for a gift and as I went to pay for my things the salesgirl didn't even say HI or, believe it or not, a simple THANK YOU. She just rang up my things, uttered the price to me, took my card, swiped it, bagged up my stuff and handed it back to me. Nothing else was said. I kind of just stood there dumbfounded at the severity of her unfriendliness. She didn't even look me in the eye the entire time. What is up with that kind service and what is up with the stuck up salespeople of Abbot Kinney? I would expect much better treatment from a boutique shop. In fact, the whole reason why i went to this boutique shop is because I believe in supporting local businesses. So disappointing. Not cute or cool. I just bought a $72 super hero toddler dress at the Malibu location. The dress fell apart after one hand wash!!!! when I called the store for an exchange or refund, no one returned my call. I had to keep calling back until I got a hold of the manager and was floored, she was an airhead with absolutely no customer service nor manners. She pretty much clarified there is no exchange in any of the stores, refused to refund me the money or order another dress from the manufacture. I will never do business with them again and urge you to do the same. Beware of Burro! read more
