I could make this a very short review by writing "This is the best burrito I have ever had in my entire life." But then I wouldn't be able to mention how friendly the service was, how tasty the salsas were, and everything else that I loved about this place. My first visit here, and everything about this experience was perfect. My sever was very friendly, and she brought out a basket of warm, fresh chips and two kinds of salsa as soon as I sat down. Both of the salsas were fresh and delicious. One was mild and the other had some heat. I ordered the vegetarian burrito "wet" and it was HUGE. Not just big enough to share for two people but honestly it would have fed a family of four. The cheese that topped my burrito was warm and melty, and the burrito was stuffed full of veggies, cheese and beans. The sides of rice and beans were very flavorful. I took 3/4 of this meal home in a box, will be great to take to work for lunch tomorrow. The menu is extensive and they serve breakfast anytime. Looking forward to returning the next time I am in the area to try more menu items.

I've been to this place a few times, and honestly, it's among my favorite Mexican food I've had! Unfortunately, inconsistent, often subpar service keeps it from getting 5 stars, especially if you come in a group. During my last visit, our orders and bills were all mixed up when I went with friends (7 of us total). Service in general leaves much to be desired in terms of accuracy (they are definitely friendly there and are happy to provide recommendations). Their complimentary tortilla chips are fresh and warm, coming with two different salsas: mild and hot. I thought the mild had more complexity in flavor. The horchata drink we got was cool and refreshing with a delicious cinnamon flavor. I order my tacos American style (lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream) here since I'm in the chunk of the population for which cilantro tastes like soap. - Cabesa (beef head): my least favorite. Had a very intense beef flavor that was too strong, and also chewy from all the cartilage - Birria (marinated beef and goat): the server recommended fried (whole taco is fried in the meat juices) and it was hands down the best I've had here (even though there were cilantro and onions - I picked those off). The meat was so tender, juicy, and flavorful - Lomo (marinated pork): very juicy and fall-apart tender, like carnitas but they use pork loin instead of shoulder so it's not nearly as fatty. - Tinga de pollo (shredded chicken with vegetables): the chicken breast was not at all dry - it was seasoned well. - Lengua (steamed beef tongue): not chewy and rubbery like you would think. It was tender and flavorful. We did have an issue here of them adding additional charges that were not listed on the menu or verbally conveyed to us at the time of ordering. While the menu says lengua tacos cost an additional 50 cents for a la carte tacos, they charged my brother an additional $2 or $2.50, which he wouldn't have ordered if he knew that. Additionally, there was a charge to fry my birria taco (which they didn't charge the first time, and nowhere on the menu does it mention an additional charge). People need to be able to rely on menu pricing when they order, or at least be told about any changes at the time of ordering. That aside, the food is excellent and I would just recommend you make sure everything is right with your order, especially if you come in a larger group.

Robust 7 Mares soup was excellent. This was one of the two containers filled with seafood and veggies. Incredibly tasty.

During the pandemic, Yelp has been my go-to to discover eateries beyond my neighborhood. While Burrito King is in Novi, it is outside where I typically drive so I would have missed this Mexican restaurant without fellow Yelpers sharing their dining tips. It was doing a brisk take-out business early in the evening; the restaurant was also open for dine-in. I was in the mood for enchiladas and impressed with the choices available: shredded chicken, beef, and cheese in a number of sauces: rancheros, tomatillo, roja, and mole. I selected the tasty beef enchiladas, topped with tomatillo sauce and cheese. They were served with refried beans and rice. I was intrigued by the 7 Mares soup, a spicy tomato-based broth with clams, crabs, shrimp, scallops, and a variety of veggies. I decided to try it, despite the high price, and I am so glad I did not miss out. The savory soup was so large that it came in two take-out containers. It is one of the many soups offered here - I need to return to try some of the others. I must also return to sample their parrilla, whole fried tilapia, and tortas. The menu here is large and impressive. The tres leches cake was light and covered in a luxurious amount of light whipped cream. I liked it so much that I ate the entire piece in one sitting. The owner taking the order was friendly and hard-working. I appreciate how efficiently he worked.

Chicken Flautas, Quesa Birria Tacos, al pastor taco

Have been going to burrito king for YEARS! it is one of my favorite taco places in this area. That being said I got the flauta for a change and it was so crispy and delicious!! Highly recommend! I also got the birria taco but it was just alright. It kind of felt a little soggy? Al pastor is solid as always!! My new favorite might be the flauta though!!

It's in a shopping center, looks small, but the dining room is to the right of the entrance. Their mild salsa is thick and chunky, not bad, better mixed with the spicy. The spicier salsa tastes quite different. We started off with an order of guacamole, 1 tostada with tinga de pollo, 2 chicken flautas, 1 chicken enchilada with roja salsa and 3 chicken tacos on soft corn. The guacamole is fresh, not super flavorful, but creamy and decent. The flautas are protein packed and quite crunchy, pretty good stuff. The tacos were yummy. The pollo meat are like pellets of meat. The chicken tostada was okay, was too soggy to pick up and eat it. I gutted it off the wilted and soggy corn tostada. Tasted decent. The chicken enchilada with roja sauce was tasty, lots of meat in the roll. The chicken is flavorful and not dry at all. We were given more salsas during our meal, but no more chips.

This is located in the plaza, with convenient parking. They have a very extensive menu with lots of choose from. I tried the chicken and beef enchiladas, it was actually very very tasty. I really like the combinations that they had to offer, and so did the rest of my group. They cook the food pretty quickly, and patch it up very well and organized for our to go. I'm not a fan of different pricing for a cash versus credit card, especially since I didn't bring cash for my first time there. Next time I know to bring cash in order to get the discount

Pro: A real Mexican restaurant in Novi. They open late everyday. Good service. They have almost everything. Service is fast except for lunch. Lunch has a waiting line usually. Con: nothing yet.

This place has really authentic Mexican food! I had been craving a burrito for a long time and was in dire need of one, and this place came up when I searched on Yelp (not surprising given the name of the restaurant) and decided to give it a try. Parking: this restaurant is located in a shopping center which has a lot of parking so parking shouldn't be an issue. Staff: staff was about their business, were helpful, and accommodating. Food: I'm from Cali and there are so many great Mexican restaurants to choose from there, and this place was definitely comparable to the places back home. I got the vegetarian burrito (because it had all the veggies I wanted) and added chicken to it, which was super yummy. The veggies were sautéed perfectly and the chicken was flavored really well. This burrito was also really big, which is always a plus and this dish came with a side of beans and rice as well. Also, you may have to ask for a side of salsa as I'm not sure they provide it otherwise. The restaurant itself was busy on a Thursday evening which was so nice to see! 10/10 recommend!

From the doubled up corn tortillas, to the tender well cooked meat, cilantro and their wonderful sautéed onions these Street style Taco's are as authentic as anything you would get in Mexico. The gratis house chips and Salsa were equally tasty and a nice complement to the Taco's all being washed down with a sugar cane based Mexican coke. The total bill came in at a very reasonable cost of $12 which is a great value in today's economy and a great deal by any standard. Relative to staff and facility, this appears to be a small family run business where the restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall at the corner of Franklin and Square Lake Rd with an equally small footprint for the restaurant. This is a very unpretentious business (think hole in a wall but in a nice way) with a limited number of dining tables and small staff. Having said that, I had no problem in getting seated and getting my order taken and food brought out in fairly quick order! I have been on a kick for a while now trying to find the best taco joint in the the northern Oakland county area and have to say this is as good as I have come across up to now and am a big fan of this business. If you are into well made authentic Mexican street taco's than this is a must visit for you. This was my first visit here and definately will not be my last where I will be combining this dining venue with my regular Bloomfield Hills Costco trips which is a Quarter mile from the restaurant.

I got the chicken tacos and 8oz side of rice and beans. Their menu read confusing, as they didn't have prices on the different meats, and tacos ranged from $2.99-$3.99 so I wasn't even sure how much my tacos would come to. I also thought it was 8oz combined of rice & beans for like $2.99 but I believe it rang up as individual 8oz containers. My total for the plate (3 tacos) & sides came to ~$16 without a tip or drink. The chicken tacos were SO bland. I tried adding more lime, the grilled onions, radishes, both the red and green salsas, and even rice and beans but nothing could rescue the flat flavor of nothingness every time I bit into my tacos. My red salsa that came with my plate was genuinely lame, it had hints of Tabasco sauce? Like they were trying to make it so spicy without any actual depth or flavor. I expected more from this place. I did try my friends steak from his taco and it was a bit more flavorful, so perhaps I got the wrong meat. Their employees were very nice and service wasn't too long, restaurant clean but limited seating! I would only return here to try the California burrito.
