**WARNING** We chose Dro's Auto Detail Paint Correction & Ceramic Coating based on his Five-Star…read morereviews and his advertised expertise in detail car services -- we believed this was our guy! We scheduled a consultation appointment to discuss our expectations and confirm he could do the work. His promises that we'd be satisfied sealed the deal.
He quoted $350 for my Jeep GC and $450 for our daughter's Jeep GC since it needed extra work. For that kind of money, we had high expectations -- because, well, that's a lot of money. We decided to start with our daughter's Jeep first, given that it was (apparently) the more challenging case.
AlejanDro and Steve arrived on time, and spent the afternoon working on her car. Was it cleaner? Sure, it smelled nice, the carpet and leather were cleaner. But as we admired the cleaning, something else caught our eye -- hundreds of tiny, white, pinkish, paint plops, and runs all over the car. What a mess!!! (See my pics).. Dro's response? "I know a guy who might be able to fix that." Because nothing screams professionalism like damaging a car and then offering to upsell a solution.
After we paid him and he left, still in shock, we included my husband (a Jeep guru), to carefully inspect her car. We literally lost count of the tiny paint blobs. Frustrated and angry, we texted Dro with our concern. His response? A $450 refund and this gem of an explanation: "The paint we got from English Color was supposed to match. Believe me, they're going to hear from me because this should have never happened." (Yes, I have that in writing.)
Now, while I appreciate the refund, it does absolutely nothing to fix the permanent damage. We don't claim to be experts in car detailing or paint correction -- that's why we did our research and trusted Dro. Yet here we were, spending an entire day at various paint shops, getting estimates on how to undo this disaster. The consensus? At minimum, the front bumper needs to be repainted (the rest of the car is an absolute loss), and the lowest quote we got was $1,500. Oh, and as an added bonus, we were told the product he used on the tires (now splattering onto the paint) will stain the car. We were told by industry professionals that this guy should not offer paint correction/ ceramics coating services because HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING!
Fantastic.
I reached out to Dro again, shared this news and the estimates, and (in a moment of generosity, or maybe blame for trusting him) even offered to split the cost. His response? "...I truly regret that you're unhappy with the outcome. I issued a full refund as a gesture of good faith, which I believed was a fair resolution. While I stand by the effort and work I put into the vehicle, a full repaint is beyond the scope of detailing and paint correction services. I sincerely wish the results had met your expectations."
Translation: Not my problem anymore!
So, consider this review a public service announcement. If you're looking for a professional detailer and expect quality services (as advertised), be prepared for the possibility of a costly mess. I'll keep posting updates as we work to get the car back to a respectable condition--complete with receipts, because people deserve to know what doing business with Dro's might actually cost.
