you would have to be desperate to use this company. the workmanship and professionalism are completely completely absent. we asked for a plantation shutter for our bathrooom, we requested PVC and were told wood is better. it's been nothing but a nightmare. It warped and peeled immediately after install. They charged me a very expensive call out fee for a replacement under warranty. It was replaced months later and did the exact same thing again. We had to rip it out and find a different blind supplier who has now installed something that actually works. Imagine that, a company that specialises in blinds but insist on putting "paper in water" and charging the customer fees when it goes soggy. Avoid at all costs. The company is a scam. read more

Burns For Blinds General manager- Mr Anil Ninan has said he proposed a necessary adjustment to ensure proper installation to the original item sold and paid for by the customer of a zip frame black out blind, but were then unable to do so as given the constraints of the pergola's existing structure. This after the Burns for Blinds team had twice came out to measure and check, this after Burns For Blinds had recommended the more expensive blind, which was sold to the customer and paid in full by the customer. The customer has stated that the only solution possible as you can't install the originally item sold, is a refund as they did not order the product that Burns For Blinds are now insisting on trying to install to make good, Mr Anil Ninan- the Burns for Blinds General manager has also quoted 'Its a necessary adjustment to ensure proper installation given the constraints of the pergola, but never quoted this on the original sale and purchase, as the sales team quoted it will fit perfectly. Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), customers have the right to expect goods and services to be of "acceptable quality", meaning they are safe, durable, and free from defects, and fit for their intended purpose, allowing them to seek a repair, replacement, or refund if a product or service does not meet these standards; essentially, consumers have automatic "consumer guarantees" when purchasing goods and services in Australia. The goods Burns For Blinds are now trying to install are not what was ordered by the customer, as quoted by Australian Consumers Law - " a refund if a product or service does not meet these standards; Burns For Blinds You Are Not Above The Law. DO NOT USE BURNS FOR BLINDS. They have made several errors with measurements. My blinds were due to be installed 6 WEEKS after the check measure and when the contractor came to install them they had manufactured the blinds off the plan measurements and not the check measure. So I have to wait another week after already waiting so long and the manager (Anil in Norwood, Adelaide) said that they would provide no compensation or refund at all. They also messed up another job for a family member 3 weeks prior and another job 2 years before that. They seem to accept mistakes and continue to make them. DO NOT USE BURNS FOR BLINDS AT ALL. read more

Customer service is a thing of the past at Burns for Blinds Very very poor customer service. Sales rep provided a quote for a roller blind that would not fit the location. The error was found by the company rep that came to do the initial onsite measurements. It took numerous emails and calls to get a revised quote for a blind to fit the opening. I was actually asked to pay the final amount of the invoice prior to receiving a revised quote. The installation team installed the blind backwards !!! Another site visit was required to perform corrective action. Additional parts that were to be provided for the older existing blinds, were not provided as promised. Despite the Manager saying the corrective actions to fit the roller blind properly would use all the same installation holes, that was not true. The second installation left the old mounting holes visible. When I contacted the company about the visible holes in the tract, the Manager said they would fill the holes with plugs! I had to insist that replacement tracks to be installed. Management was not receptive to my comments about receiving very poor service from the company. Very poor service overall, very disappointing. read more

Absolutely disgusting service and product. Initially the blinds were installed terribly. Blinds were not level, electrical cables running through serrated metal holes and the blinds would not shut properly. Light was spilling in over the top and scratches to the runners etc. the company did, after much hassle, agree to send someone to fix the issues, to which only some were rectified. We still have light spilling in around the blinds which makes them basically useless for us during the day as shift workers. Considering their website states "100% light blockout", this is clearly false advertising and misleading and I will be taking this further. When the salesman came to us he advised us that the 10 year warranty covered everything including the straps and the motor! This was the main reason we went with Burns for blinds. I argued this with the manager but they would not budge. It's such a disappointment that this company has to lie to its customers just to get sales. Their salesman told us on multiple occasions that the 10 year warranty covered everything including straps and motor. Overall I am disgusted with the service and quality of this company and would never recommend or use them again! read more

It's easy not to look past Burns for Blinds, their adverts are plastered on TV, you'd be forgiven for considering them a recognized SA name. Beyond the marketing and lovely sounding sales people, it's a completely dysfunctional, uncoordinated and broken organisation to say the least. From the time you sign that contract, the customer service is completely non existent - and that's not an understatement! I moved into a new house with no window coverings, and asked for a quote on both blinds & plantation shutters depending on what I could fit within my budget. The nice sales person Daryl, convinced me that he could do a good deal on plantation shutters. My concern is how long it would take, but Daryl assured me it'll only be 10 weeks. I raised concern that I have nothing on my windows, which he suggested I could just get some cheap curtains from Spotlight in the meantime. I reconfirmed with him that it'll be 10 weeks, and he said yep, if I sign the contract & contact the office to pay the office today, he'll be able to get me in on the shipment in 10 weeks. So I reluctantly agreed. Once I signed the contract & paid deposit, I was told I'd hear from them to arrange the final check & measure. Then the first radio silence began. The first few weeks ticked by until out of the blue I get a rushed phone call from a lady saying "we're coming on X date for the check & measure" which was another few more weeks away. She sounded very automated but I thought fair enough, it's a basic appointment to sort out. Then 10 minutes later, I get the same call, again, from the same lady, with the same automated response... but I don't think she realized she'd already spoken to me 10 minutes earlier. So I played dumb, as to not embarrass her and agreed again. Those few weeks passed, and the day before my final check & measure appointment, SA went into a snap lockdown. I didn't hear anything from Burns for Blinds, no phone call or even an email update, so I assumed they must've still been coming. I waited around on the day, but 'obviously' nobody showed up. Ok fair enough, a lockdown is out of their control. Surely they'll call me in the coming days to apologise & reschedule. Nearly 2 weeks passed after the final check & measure appointment, until the same lady that originally called me twice to book it in, called with another automated sounding response "obviously we couldn't come, so we're coming on X date".. not even an apology or acknowledgment of the lockdown situation nor the lack of communication or not showing up. Just another lackluster 10 second phone call to say we're coming on this date. Whatever, fair enough. Finally the day arrives for the check & measure, and I get a call at 6am whilst I'm still in bed fast asleep. It's the guys wanting to come earlier and confirm the time with me. I message and say please don't call this early, which they apologise and confirm the time their coming. That's done and dusted. Given it's now been over 4 weeks, and the impact of the SA lockdown, I called Burns for Blinds again to follow up on the timeframe and whether the lockdown and delay to the check & measure has had any impact on the 10 weeks timeframe. I was assured probably only a week or two at most. Weeks tick by, I hear nothing, until that 10 week timeframe has well and truly passed. I call the office to follow up, which they explain there's been a few week delay due to Covid and it was now expected in late September. Late September comes and goes, and I still hear nothing - so I call again. Once again, I'm told it's been delayed to 7th of October. Still no contact or updates, and that day comes and goes, so I call again which I'm then told mid-late October. That comes and goes without any contact, again I call I'm and I'm told it's arrived in the warehouse, and someone will call me any time now, likely in the coming days to arrange install. Another week, I hear nothing - so again, I'm told sorry - it's actually not arrived in the warehouse, it's still in Melbourne and should come over to Adelaide on the 25th of October. That comes and goes, still nothing, now I call and am told, no actually it's stuck in Sydney in a container, it'll be 1st week of November. We're now at week 18, of the 10 weeks promised. Understanding the impacts of Covid logistical problems, but not once in 18 weeks has anybody ever picked up the phone, even for 30 seconds, to let me know what's going on. Instead, I have to keep chasing up and doing the run around, being told different stories and different things. Nearly 5 months in, and I'm no closer than I was 3 months ago. read more

Would you believe there's an update to this story?? While waiting for our refund, we were informed by the sales rep. that they *could* do our blinds, and that they would get a specialist Luxaflex person out to have a look. After organising a time for them to visit, they didn't turn up ... afterwards we were informed that they had arrived at our property when we weren't home, let themselves in through the back and had a look at our windows from the outside!! We were so angry that they had trespassed on our property without our permission (we now have locks on all our gates), and had not let us know until the next day! After that, they organised for the installer to take detailed measurements and make templates for our windows. We followed up a month or so later (we always had to follow up - they never contacted us), and were informed that they had LOST the templates, so the installer had to come out AGAIN and measure up. So there's another delay. At the end of February (remember these were meant to be installed in early January), the installer arrived to install the standard blinds, and had to take another template for the custom ones. He was pretty angry - he has been the only Burns For Blinds employee that we have been impressed with - he kept apologising, even though it wasn't his fault. We were very impressed with the installer's work - the one star is for him ;) So just over a month goes by, and we have heard nothing from Burns For Blinds (as usual). My partner contacts them, and finally a time is organised for the installation of the custom blinds. I wonder if they were just sitting there waiting for us to call them?? So, 5 months after getting a quote, and 3 months after the blinds were meant to be installed, our blinds have been installed. I asked Burns For Blinds (on the recommendation of the Office Of Consumer Affairs) if we could get a discount off the remaining balance due to the ridiculous delays and stress caused by this situation. Of course, they said no ... I mean, why would they care? They have our money, and they don't give a damn. So if you're thinking of getting blinds - do yourself a favour and STEER CLEAR of these guys - seriously!! PS - this experience has also highlighted how important it is to read reviews of a business before contacting them ... other review sites have scarily similar stories :\ read more

Since using Burns for Blinds to install blinds in our new home, I have seen nine separate reviews - ALL OF THEM ONE STAR. I'll add a tenth. Burns was the best deal in terms of cost, so we signed on to their interest free deal with certegy. They were to come out on a Friday afternoon to complete installation, and at the last minute told us that I had to be there to sign off the certegy documents (as I was the signatory) - requiring me to leave work early. The guy didn't turn up. While my wife did have a missed call, no message was left, and her returned calls were not answered. Needless to say I was irate. Come Monday, my wife gets a call from their office - with NO apology - arranging a new time of Thursday, and asking for me to be there to sign off. She suggested they contact me - and when they did I made it clear I wasn't inclined to take more time out of my day AGAIN to sign "whatever the hell these documents were" - they could get them to me. They ended up emailing a scanned copy for me to sign and return. When I got them I realised they documents for certegy confirming installation had been completed to our satisfaction - and as such I wasn't signing until the job was complete. I replied seeking clarification, and got no reply. Wednesday afternoon comes, and with an hour to go in the day I get another email, abruptly telling me to return the signed documents or the job wouldn't go ahead. Needless to say I wasn't going to be bullied into signing off on work that hadn't been completed, so I replied to that effect (and berating him for not getting back earlier). Waited a little time and then rang their office with the same message and to get assurance that the task would go ahead (checking that I could email the document once my wife checked the installation). Was assured all was fine. I later got another abrupt email, though by then it was (hopefully) under control. As it turned out, other matters required me to be at the house the following day, and besides the installer being at the later end of their estimated timeframe the task was completed and the documents signed off. The blinds were fine and the installer quick and friendly. The sales staff were ok. Their back office leaves a whole lot to be desired. Not once did we get an apology for our wasted afternoon, and their bullying tactics to get us to sign off on incomplete work displays questionable business ethics. Thinking of Burns? Just DON'T. read more

Very bad experience... DO NOT USE THEM. On 3rd November, we have placed an order with Burns for Blinds, with a total amount of $5478 for plantation shutters, we paid a deposit of $1648. We were promised delivery by mid January. The sales man was friendly, but once he's gone things have changed. The guys disappeared for two weeks and then showed up for measurements, and then re-disappeared until the second week of February... No apologies for the delay or whatsoever. They never called, we had to constantly call and get answered by rude persons. When they showed up two weeks after the delivery due date, two of them didn't fit, and the guy didn't fix them, we paid for the fixed once and were promised that the the "office" will call to solve the matter of the faulty ones.. They guy left and we NEVER received any calls from them. Anyway, to make long story short, it's March now, they are still holding our deposit of $544 for the unfixed shutters, and the bloody shutters wont be here until sometime in April.. Awful experience, I hate that place and will never let any of their sales people step a foot in my place again.. read more

In a word shocking "DON'T EVER USE THEM" we had blinds and outdoor awning installed the blinds were ok. But the outdoor awning is now taking on farcical proportions. The awning was install 300mm from the house allowing sunlight and rain to enter, when they can out to look at my complaint the statement was your partner must have been confused, the only confusion is on their part as all we wanted was the same as next door which you can see from our yard. To have it rectified I have been forced to make 3 suitable brackets, which after two appointments which they did not show up to this is still to be rectified. Now the awning is starting to twist and they have advised me that there were not enough brackets used and could I now make another. Any discussion about a price adjustment is dismissed. read more

This is a snippet out of the email I had sent to the sales director complaining after dealing with the manager and then the commercial manager. I would not recommmend this company AT ALL! Their service is terrible and I agree they do not care about customer service at all! Not surprisingly similar to Michelle D's story! """I am a very unsatisfied customer of Burns for Blinds and am writing to you personally to express my disappointment in this whole experience of ordering blinds for the two rooms in my house. First the bedroom and now the second room being the front lounge where it has been one stuff up after another and still continuing. I have dealt with A**** and A**** and I do not wish to speak to them about this anymore as they have not bothered ringing to follow up or apologise that it has taken this long for one set of blinds to be completed and I think I have been more than patient and to put it politely I'm very over it. Please find below events of what has happened since the very first quote to the best of my memory. 22 November - Quote organised for bedroom blinds. Had ordered pleated block out venetians. A**** provided quote and B**** came to do check measure, forgot to measure cut outs in window so another appointment was made where I've had to leave work early in order to be able to meet him to which he never turned up or phoned that he could not make it. I called to make another appointment and he never returned my phone calls and the office was closed for Christmas so I had to wait till after New Year's. After New Year's when office reopened - I never heard from him so I had to follow up with another phone call to B**** to make another appointment and whilst there I got him to provide a quote for front lounge blinds. Mid Jan - A**** emailed quote through and I advised there is measurements for one window not included. Had to take time off work to meet A**** so he could revise quote B**** had provided and he couldn't work out what B**** had done either so gave me a new quote. Meanwhile my bedroom blinds finally arrived in February and they were incorrect. They came as light filter instead of block out so had to wait for them to be reordered. 12 March - A**** contacted myself to follow up on quote for lounge room and I had advised I was not interested due to the bad service I had received. He negotiated with a special price for me. 21 March - I accepted and confirmed quote A**** presented to me and paid deposit. 30 April - Install booked for front lounge blinds. The whole order received was completely wrong - the duette blind with see through mesh and block out I had ordered came as two separate blinds instead of one, one blind didn't fit properly and the rest of the blinds were facing the wrong way, the whitest side of the blind was supposed to be facing inside and all the head rails were cream and instead of white which is what I had ordered. 18 May - all came back for second install except one blind which was supposed to be block out like the rest came back as light filter (?!) so that was returned. A**** had popped in briefly for two minutes but left before job was done so was not aware until notified later by installer. 20 June - the one blind came back with block out but head rail in cream and not white so had to be returned again. 12 July - A**** had called me and said he personally checked and reassured me it is all good to go, installer came on this day and still incorrect. Wrong coloured head rail - still in cream and not white as ordered. 30 July - still no blind to date and have not heard from anyone. No one has bothered to ring up and apologise or follow up with when this will be completed and this has been not only a frustrating experience but is an inconvenience as I work full time and have to constantly meet the installers so the stuff ups can be fixed. I think this whole experience is beyond funny and which seems to be never ending at this point.""""" Above all that they tried to charge me an extra $5 to what I had originally agreed on - there was no way in hell they were getting another red cent from me! And same as Michelle I'm only giving the one star to the installers who were really apologetic and polite. read more

I have used Burns for blinds on several occasions now the most recent for 3 new screen doors for our home every time they have been excellent from the first phone call to the insulation. The only time we had a problem was when we had our houseboat fitted out with roller blinds and one was made too short, but they were so apologetic and had the new blind rush though and out to us very quickly. I can not recommend them highly enough read more

Went to the Norwood branch today and staff has not been nice to us. We asked for quotations and for some reason this staff showed attitude of impatience--almost degrading that we were not meeting in between with our kind requests. We left straight away and our long trip to their showroom came down to nothing. Hopefully other branches have friendlier staff. read more

PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A BUSINESS In Nov 2013, we were looking for blinds for our home, we called burns for blinds 2 come and do measurements and a quote for us. A guy (Felix) came and was measuring our windows. our house was built in 1953 so the walls aren't all the same measurements, we told the guy to measure from the top of the window to the bottom, however he insisted 2 only measure as far as he could reach. Blinds came, wrong measurements. Sent them Back. The installer (fantastic guy) re measured and did it properly. 2nd time they came, still wrong measurements. The manufactures crossed out the measurements and wrote different ones down. Sent them back. They have been back 5 times and all times, wrong measurement (once they even sent back 1 of the first blinds they made) Now it is Jan 2014 and we are still waiting on one more blind. We paid a deposit, and we still have money owing which we refused to give until ALL blinds were installed. 6 weeks ago (after the last time we sent them back) the next few days we were trying 2 contact them 2 find out what was going on, are they making the blind? We kept getting the reception ladies who always responded with ill get them 2 call you. We never heard back from them so we stopped trying too. 6Weeks later we get a phone call saying the blind is ready, and that if we don't pay the rest of the money they will take us to court, 2 which we responded we would like some discount for the inconvenience they caused us and for us having 2 take time of work 2 let the installer in all those times) The guy said he will call back (he didn't) so I called them and had 2 yell and threaten them by withholding payment in order for the reception ladies 2 put me through. They guy said no further discount will be taken off but they can offer a $300 voucher for next time. YEA RIGHT. I laughed and said that he was crazy 2 think we would ever come back 2 him. They are coming in a week to install the final blind, it better be right this time. read more

Terrible customer service, the managers (Mark and Anil) are very greedy and are absolutely not interested in making customers happy. I ordered my blinds in October 2013, it is almost mid February 2014 now and I still have not received my blinds. The installer has been 6 times in my place and every time there is something wring wrong with my blinds: wrong size, damaged. crooked...and so on. The management doesn't want to offer any compensation at all and simply don't want to talk to you . whoever reads this please don't buy blinds or any other product from this company, please don't put your money into the hands of these greedy people who don't care about anyone else but themselves. read more

We have been really happy with the service and quality of roller blinds (and awning) that were installed at our property by Burns for Blinds. The price was competitive with the other quotes we received and the installer was courteous /professional. They cleaned up the dust, offcuts, etc and left the place clean and tidy. DONT USE THIS COMPANY I am still waiting for my security screen which was ordered on 1.10.14. The service is terrible they actually installed the door which didn't fit & I could not lock so rang them to complain they make appts & don't show up then come & fix the door by bending it at the top & bottom & say look it works now.... Then admit it was not made big enough ....that's why they do a measure at first quote then come & do a check measure yeah right!!!! I am still waiting I have to keep ringing, the install person on the phn is very disinterested as guess what they have your money ...so many other things to say they have stuffed up but I will let everyone I know not to use this business read more

I would like to share my experience with burns for blinds . We just moved to a new house at plympton park . I made few phone calls and one on them was burns for blinds . A guy asked to come and talk to us and we settled a time and day , he showed up at 0715 am as his first costumer finished earlier and he just showed to our door step without a curtesy call thought we had agreement by 0830 am. He convinced us buying from them This was November 2012 . Of course we paid advance a part of total. Week after week , month after month and no call from them When I required , a very rood person on the other side answers, Another calls By 4th February 2013 , a guy came and spend the whole day fixing only half shutters and he realised the others were wrongly measured And with his dirty showed our Capet is black He took another amount of money And after a week or so another person showed and took another measurements And silence then I called after aweek and a lady said yes they will be done as a matter of urgency , they will be here in two weeks I waited three weeks before calling again and another person claimed I am lying and I did not call earlier And shocked me that the new shutters will take another two months to be done Today they fixed them and they are sooooo ugly And they guy refused to leave home as usual unless I transfers the money to their account. They care only for money but not the customer service or the quality of service they provide read more

I'm very disappointed with my experience at Burns for Blinds. I purchased what were advertised as basswood shutters, but after installation, it became clear they are not genuine basswood. The material is noticeably lighter and softer, clearly a cheaper wood substitute being passed off as the real thing. This feels misleading and dishonest, especially given the premium price I paid expecting authentic basswood quality. I would strongly caution others to verify the materials before purchasing. I expected more transparency and integrity from a well-known name like Burns for Blinds. read more

We had roller blinds installed in our rental property. From the salesman who came out to give us the quote to the installer who installed the Blinds, we found they were always on time, very helpful & polite. We had one small problem with the cords in the wrong position, but this was fixed quickly by Adam who was a very clean & tidy worker. We are very satisfied with the finished look of the Blinds & would use this Company again. Yvonne & Graham. read more
