For nearly 17 years, I've applied for positions through Burnett Specialists and communicated with several recruiters. I first began applying around 2009 while I was still in college. At that time, I understood when I was told I needed more experience or additional assessments before qualifying for certain positions. Instead of giving up, I took that feedback seriously. Over the years, I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees, gained experience in state government, higher education, secondary education, and several other professional roles. I continued building my résumé because I believed that eventually I would become the type of candidate they were looking for. Over the past four months, I've applied for numerous positions and reached out to multiple recruiters. Unfortunately, the outcome has remained the same. Whether it was a full-time position or even an internship in my degree field, I was consistently passed over. At first, I was frustrated because I felt I had done everything I was supposed to do to become a stronger candidate. My goal has never been to remain stagnant. I believe in appreciating where you are while continuing to grow professionally and create better opportunities for yourself and your family. Over time, however, my perspective changed. I realized that not every staffing agency is the right fit for every candidate, and that's okay. Sometimes an organization simply isn't the place where your career is meant to take off. If you've had a similar experience, don't view it as a loss. There are many excellent staffing agencies throughout Texas that may be a much better fit for your background and career goals. I've personally had better experiences with PrideStaff and MDR, and there are many other reputable agencies worth considering, including: * Robert Half * Express Employment Professionals * Clayton Services * Murray Resources * Frontline Source Group * AppleOne Employment Services * Snelling Staffing * CornerStone Staffing * The Liberty Group * Link Staffing * AmeriTech Staffing * KP Staffing Many of these agencies are Better Business Bureau accredited or have established reputations in Texas staffing and recruiting. I sincerely wish Burnett Specialists continued success. My experience simply wasn't the right fit, and I hope this review encourages other job seekers not to become discouraged. Sometimes the right opportunity is waiting with a different agency. Toodles. read more

My experience with this staffing agency was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I took the time to visit their office and complete the entire application process, providing all the requested personal and employment information. After that, I received absolutely no follow-up--not even a simple acknowledgment or update. I also called several times to check on the status of my application, but no one returned my calls or provided any useful information. A professional staffing agency should communicate with applicants, even if no suitable position is currently available. Leaving people completely ignored after collecting their information and requiring them to come into the office is unacceptable. This experience made me question how seriously they take applicants and how responsibly the recruitment process is managed. Based on the poor communication and complete lack of follow-through, I cannot recommend this agency. They need to improve their professionalism, transparency, and respect for job seekers' time. read more

Burnett Specialists has the most professional Recruiters I've had the pleasure of working with. Michelle Waldron has been an excellent mentor since 2014. I've had the greatest opportunities & have always known they have my best interest at heart. Kylie M is also an excellent Recruiter to work with. The greatest compliment you can give a Recruiter is being the best in the role you are chosen for. They truly care about your career opportunities as well as your happiness. read more

Burnett Specialists is an incredible company with amazing employees. They placed me within the staff side of the Law Firm I am at today and I could not be more grateful for their consideration and guidance in getting me to where I am. I would not be the young professional I am today without the patience and dedication of their Greenway team. Thank you to Michelle Waldron, Morgan Hayes, Ashley Craddick, and Tamara Allaway for everything!! I would 10/10 recommend using their services. - Madison Smith read more

I came to know Burnett Staffing back in the later months of 2016- 2017. My then recruiter was remarkable and took great care of me. I embraced my experience and encouraged anyone I knew seeking a job to reach out to them. Somehow, I lost contact with my recruiter and started working with Patsy Janek. She was responsive and showed great concern until recently. I understand that the recruitment process can be lengthy and that not all candidates can be successful. However, I was under the impression I had a healthy relationship with my recruiter Patsy Janek. It has now been nearly one year (9 months) since I have heard back anything from her. Despite my attempts to reach out for an update through emails and voicemail, I have not received any response. This experience has been quite disheartening, as I was very enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with Burnett Staffing. I came across a few postings for jobs that seemed like a perfect fit for my skills and career aspirations, and I had hoped for at least a courtesy update on the status of my application. I have not heard anything from her. She totally ghosted me and because her name was linked to my profile no one else would work with me. Does anyone reflect on their experiences during a time when they were searching for a job? Remembering all the anxiety you faced for attempting to provide for your families? What has happened to common human empathy? Understanding any areas where I may have needs for improvements or reasons for the decision would have been greatly beneficial for my professional development thus allowing me to work on correcting any issues. Finally, I had the courage to reach out to another location asking for a supervisor and explaining my concerns. In about 4 days I received a call from my old recruiter, and she agreed to help me. I am thankful for this opportunity to be reacquainted and to possibly obtain a job. I decided to bring this awareness after thinking about the numerous of job searches and the time I spent completing applications for Burnett Staffing / Specialist. I know of a few other candidates that have experienced the same thing from Patsy Janek. Patsy Janek has misrepresented Burnett Staffing and has simply dismissed me and has caused tons of complexed worries. Patsy Janek has left me feeling unheard and questioning my own judgment. I can only hope she will come to understand to emotional and professional impact she has caused. SMH...... read more

I've worked with Burnett Specialists in the past and always heard great things about their agency, so, when I was in the job market, I reached out to them. I could not be any happier - I get up and go to work with a happy heart and mind. Burnett makes you feel important. If you call and have any concerns or questions they get back to you as soon as possible and are always there for you. And Morgan Hayes is such a delight! Definitely a STAR in my book! Thank you, Burnett and Morgan, for finding me such a wonderful firm to be a part of! read more

They never call you back for anything. I applied for a position and then I received a call telling me to come in and fill out all the paperwork before she can apply for it. After I drove for an hour and was done filling all the papers, the recruiter said that I wasn't qualified for the position. Then why the hell did you make me come in??. I think they get raises based on how many people sign up with them. Among the worst temp agencies I've worked with. Ive dealt with many different agencies. This is one of the most arrogant and useless ones. They don't even write back at all!. read more

I recently moved across the country to Houston for personal reasons, and it was tough for me to try and arrange interviews via Skype or other remote means. I found a job that sounded like a good fit for me and applied. A few days later, I was contacted by Laura from Burnett and after an initial phone screening, she agreed I would be a good fit for the job I had applied to as well as another client of hers., and was able to set up interviews for both a few days after I would be arriving in town. I didn't have high hopes because I hadn't worked with a recruiter before, but working with them is the best decision I could have made. I had several other interviews I had set up for myself that week, but none fit as well as the one Laura had set me up for. She was able to fit me in a great job, and gave me some great tips and advice about moving here. Thanks Laura! read more

Well this is the Follow-Up, to The Follow-Up. On Monday ( 08/27/2012 ) i had an Interview, with a company called P.C.C.A. and it went real good. Just waiting and see what happens. Not that i wanted to but Because, i'm getting a job, On My Own. They had there chance and now they can not make No Money off, of me. NEVER AGAIN! This is probably one of the WORST staffing agencies in the entire Houston area! The HR manager received my resume and told me she would reach out to her client which she did via email but started asking questions about my employment history that I felt were against EEOC policy and unnecessary. She never answers her phone even after I left her a voice message asking her why the employer needed to know why I was a contract hire only employee for the last three years which I explained in the return email? I explained to her that my situation employment-wise only presented itself with temp employment and I was going to college at that time to finish my associate's degree. She responded with an email stating that her clients request this information from their candidates which rose a red flag because I have never had an employer ask me why I was just a contract worker? I have worked in human resources for six years and have never encountered this before! I gave her a phone call back to her office, and her receptionist picked up the phone with an insulting tone in her voice and told me I needed to talk to the HR manager who I have been trying to reach. I felt very disrespected, embarrassed, and humiliated and the tone from the Houston office felt like why did you call this office?! This hiring HR manager made me feel very insignificant and it felt like she was trying to tell me that I wasn't good enough for the role and a waste of time! I emailed her back telling her that I will be moving on from this agency and didn't feel that her question was an appropriate question to ask her candidates! If you are seeking employment from this agency STAY CLEAR! It is very obvious that they don't care about their candidates and are only there to meet their quota or metrics. Someone should really audit and report this agency to the EEOC or Labor Unio I am convinced that they are practicing discriminative hiring practices at this agency. read more

Note: this is Long over due and a correction and Apology is on order on my behalf. I was wrong (very wrong) about Burnett Specialists and it's staff. They did Tried (Notice i said Tried) to find me another job/chance with another client, but i had to turn it down, for a retail position, closer to home (instead of traveling across to another county) So once again I was Wrong and they Are Cool with me. read more

What an incredible company! Truly the #1 staffing agency. Finding a job on your own is not always easy. It really is about connections. I have gone through a couple staffing agencies and they either do not keep me in the loop or offer company's that I would never even think of working for. But with the help of the Burnett specialists, specifically Kylie and Ashley C., these ladies have helped me land a position that met beyond expectations. These ladies at Burnett would prep me for the interview, encourage me, update and check on me and the process of each interviews. They support and offer outstanding tips to excel in getting the job you desire. Their agency is very well connected and only offer nothing but the best. They are professional and not only great at their job, but you can tell how much they enjoy it as well. They're always there when you need them for any questions or concerns, especially for support. I would absolutely look no further when it comes to a staffing agency. Extremely thankful for their seamless work and help all thought out. I applied to a position posted online for an accounting role. I was contacted by Amanda McNeil to come speak with her in person to further discuss the type of jobs I am looking for. Took the time to drive an hour to come speak with her, and everything at the time went really well. We had a great conversation, and she seemed very friendly. However almost one week went by with no communication on her part. I emailed her about a position I was interested in, and it took her almost 2 weeks to reply! Her response was to just simply apply through the company website (thanks for the great advice). This was a complete waste of time. I assume I was just another number to meet her total number of interviews required by the company. Honestly, do not waste your time coming up here to speak with them; they give little to no effort to actually helping out. read more

Burnett truly deserves a 5 star rating from me! They were a godsend. Never did I ever think that I could be placed in a position that I absolutely love IN ONE DAY. Here's my story: I graduated recently and was a personal assistant looking to transition into the corporate world. I had been applying online on different job sites but was not having any luck and was wanting to transition quite fast into a corporate job. I reached out to Burnett and Krystal B. consulted with me and helped me think about what type of roles might interest me. After deciding that I would like to get into an administration role, she got me in touch with Brandy L. Brandy did a fantastic job of feeling me out as a person and encouraged me to see the good qualities and skills that I possessed that employers would find desirable. She made me so comfortable in a usually nerve wracking situation and she really boosted my confidence (which we all need sometimes, ESPECIALLY when job hunting. She worked with me to add onto my resume as there were duties I had in previous jobs that I didn't even think to list on my resume. She told me about 3 different job openings and got my input on which ones I thought I would be interested in. I left Burnett feeling full of hope and extremely faithful that I would for certain be placed in a role with a company that I would love. However, I had no idea it would happen so fast. I left Thursday morning, had a call from Brandy that evening saying she pushed my resume through to a company that wanted to see me for an interview, had the interview scheduled that evening for the next morning. I went in the next morning for the interview, the company thought I was a good fit for the role as 5 minutes after I left, I got a call from Brandy saying I got the job!! LIKE, WHAT!? I was estatic but mostly shocked for 2 reasons: 1. That I was placed with a company in a day and 2. That I was placed with a company that fit my personality to a T! Brandy had told me that she thought I would mesh well with the employees at this company and she couldn't have been more right. This is my second week here and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Brandy did an outstanding job of making sure I was placed with a company that fit me. I appreciate Krystal and Brandy's help so much and constantly am spreading the word of the miracle that Burnett Staffing Specialist did for me. read more

This place is a joke. I am currently employed but seeking employment elsewhere. I first signed up with them over a year ago. My recruiter was Kylie Molvogue. I would call and email her and she was avoiding me. So I called her office to see if she was there amd some girl named Ariel with a bad attitude said he was in. I drove across town and Ariel was very rude with me I never said my name on the phone but she acted like she knew it was me. But magically Kylie was not in the office when I came in person. She didnt give a damn about me.She was not helpful at all. I wasted a year of my life waiting for her to find a job for me. I got in contact with Sue Burnett, the founder of the company. She said it "made her sad" that I was having bad luck. So she passed me on to another recruiter Ashley Craddick. I got in contact with her in early 2020. It's is now August 2020 and she can't find a job for me in the fourth largest city in the country. WTF. I don't see how this place keeps getting awards for best employment agency because they pick and choose who they find a job for. Do yourself a favor and use another agency!!! read more

I will speak from experience. I worked with Burnett for a job for approximately 2000 total hours. I am an accountant/financial analyst that was placed in a Fortune 500 Oil Company by Burnett. I asked after 3 months to the Operations Manager if they can initiate conversation in order to get me a permanent position with the company. Burnett said they had no way to contact the company in which they placed me in. After 6 months, I asked the same thing, well they came back with the same answer. Well after 10 months of working as a permanent employee, I received a promotion to another department. They were of no help to me during my 10 months. I had to initiate every conversation with senior management, whom was constantly changing. Next, I get to my new position and I was going about my business and going above and beyond what was expected. I have a documented letter to the Operations manager stating to her that my start date would be on x-day. She did not alert the payroll department. They overpaid me for a short period of time. When Burnett and I spoke about this, I was informed that this happens at their company and, not to worry, we could work a deal to pay this money back. Well we came up on an agreement and I went back to doing business as usual. One day I get called in to by HR, saying that Burnett had still paid me and that I submitted time to them "in order to get paid dishonestly", and I lost my job over this as a result.I was stunned. Burnett said they did not notify my company of any information, when based on a conversation with HR the hours from the company in which I worked for that i supposedly turned in do not even match the amount of hours that the agency had approved. I was in salary position, why would I submit time? That was not a policy at the company I worked for. Burnett never disengaged the payroll and kept receiving approvals from someone within my old department to make payments when the Operations Manager of Burnett knows i do not work in my old department. They even accepted an authorized approval to pay me for a 48 hour work week, does this make any sense? The money was not a big enough amount to where I am going to notice these payments in my account, I do not check my account as much I should, where I could have caught it. I have some fault in this, nothing was done with malicious intent. What do I have to gain by this? Why would I risk my job for doing this?I have everything automatically taken out and I know what I am making, i am not even expecting any money, this went on 4 weeks. Burnett does not own up to their mistakes. I had a mistake in this in not being diligent enough in checking my account. I lost my job over this. Therefore, beware that Burnett will not communicate with your employer to hope to get you to a permanent status. They charged double the rate they gave me and then on top of that will not own up to their mistakes to my employer. They should be held accountable and be an advocate for their client. They might be able to find you a job but then on to the next recruit and you are of zero importance. I then called the accounting department when I got laid off. I was on the phone with a Burnett employee for over 10 minutes and then I heard whispering in the background and I asked "whom else is on this phone conversation so that I may know all parties involved?" Reluctantly, the employee at Burnett that I was speaking to, said the Operations Manager's name was also listening in, did not identify herself and would not speak for herself. I was never rude or unprofessional to Burnett, but I guarantee you that is how they will treat you. If anybody would like to contact me regarding Burnett to hear more, let me know. Burnett will not take accountability for their actions. read more
