Shawna Hobbs is in my LinkedIn network, so I reached out to her to see if she could help. Even though I'm in Dallas and Corbett is based out of Houston, their network is expansive. After interviewing with Shawna over the phone, she said that she had a position available for me that she'd like to present me for. She was very upfront in saying one of the ladies in the office was retiring but there was no timeline on when she was going to retire. Because of this, they wanted to take the time to find the right person, and it could take a hot minute. It did take them a while to make a decision, but when they did, I'm so glad they chose me! Thanks to Corbett and especially Shawna for the great experience. If I ever need any help in the future, I will definitely be reaching out to Shawna.

It was truly a wonderful experience, from the initial point of contact to the interview process. When I arrived at the office I felt so welcome, the office oozed with nothing but positive energy. The receptionist was there to greet me with a smile, she knew my name and there was even a welcome sign with my name on it. Talk about excellent customer service! I had the pleasure of interviewing with Shawna and Courtney, who was absolutely wonderful. They genuinely wanted to know about my future career goals, gave me positive feedback, and constructive criticism. I cannot forget, Joanne and Jeanne who have been nothing short of amazing. If you are looking for a great agency please sign with Corbett, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Corbett for your 5-star Service!!! Tonya

The Houston Texas Workforce Commission system has felt profoundly disorganized, dismissive, and…read moredeeply discouraging to navigate. At a time when vulnerable people are coming to them in genuine need of help, guidance, and timely support, the experience instead can feel cold, bureaucratic, and painfully indifferent. What has been most heartbreaking is not simply delays or confusion, but the feeling that human beings in crisis are too often treated like paperwork instead of people. When someone's health, livelihood, dignity, and future are hanging in the balance, a system entrusted to help should never leave a person feeling abandoned, unheard, or defeated. I entered this process hoping for advocacy and meaningful assistance. Instead, I have too often been met with contradictions, lack of clarity, poor communication, and decisions that seem disconnected from the real-life consequences they carry. No one seeking help through a vocational rehabilitation program should walk away feeling more hopeless than when they arrived. It's a horrifying program and should be shut down.

So basically, Smarter HR Solutions helps local businesses with HR needs (correct me if I'm wrong). In my experience, Nicole was pretty much screening me for a position for a local business in the area. I received a phone interview with Nicole after submitting my application through indeed.com. The interview lasted about 15 minutes. It was fun, it was informative, and it made me really look forward to the in-person interview. She told me almost everything I needed to know about the company I was interviewing for and what I should be looking forward to. The correspondence was great, with a mix of e-mails and phone calls (yes, cell phones are still capable of this function). When the face-to-face interview took place, Nicole did a great job of prepping the candidates by giving us the background of the hiring company - what they do, where they started, how they got to where they are (basically filled in any gaps that were left open after we did our own research - yes, RESEARCH - it's what Google is for, folks...or encyclopedias depending on the situation, I guess). We then met with the business owners of the company looking to add to their team. Overall, the process was extremely pleasant, Nicole was wonderful (and this isn't a biased opinion just because I got hired, I promise), and I never felt left in the dark, as everything was made plain and clear. If given the choice, I would absolutely work with Smarter HR Solutions again. Well, I guess that doesn't matter. What really matters is what the company who used Smarter HR Solution thinks, right? Well, I'm on their team now, so I would say they are pretty thrilled with the results of working with Smarter HR Solutions! ;)

The founder has over 20 years' experience in HR in industries such as Oil & Gas, Banking, Healthcare, and Education. She decided to step out of corporate HR and accepted the challenge of working with a "small company" that employed over 600 part-time people but kept the same infrastructure as if it was still a small company. The owner was laser focused on growing her business and her HR needs were too great to manage. Our founder was able to create an infrastructure with an employee manual, policies and procedures, streamlined the hiring process of seasonal workers, developed a cost-effective Employee Recognition Program, developed employees through training and development initiatives, migrated paper files into an electronic HRIS system, and was able to shave over $350k from the compensations budget via rescheduling and market compensation analysis. This invaluable experience made apparent the need of HR support for small to mid-sized businesses that may be in a growth phase but do not have the HR support they need to stay viable, efficient, and profitable. Our mission is to partner with small to mid-sized companies that are overwhelmed with HR related tasks by offering them customized help when they need it. Not all businesses are the same so the way HR is administered can be very different. We offer corporate level services with a personable touch...
