While I understand policies are in place for a reason, I believe customer service and loyalty should weigh heavily in these situations. As someone who values supporting local businesses and has consistently chosen to spend my money here, I'm disappointed by the lack of effort to make this right--even after reaching out directly. As a resident of the downtown area, this shop was my go to for different odds and ends, typically every few months. Over the years, I've noticed the jump in prices but attributed it to the renovations made to the shop. With Covid slowing down business, I understood the money had to be made up somewhere, and so I let things slide. After all, neighborhood shops like this are at risk...which is why they should treat and charge their customers fairly. A few days ago, I visited the shop and was quoted 3x the normal price I've been paying for the item. I was flabbergasted and thought maybe I heard the rep incorrectly. I didn't. Needless to say, I left, drove up the street to another shop and found what I needed at a fair price. Later, after reading other reviews, I realized that I wasn't the only one with a poor customer experience. In closing, I'm ALL for supporting small businesses but not when they introduce tactics like price gouging. Their decision to do so could very well explain why the shop is seemingly always empty.
