If you have no clue what to do in the gym & you need somewhere to start or aren't a fan of making…read moreup your own workouts and want to see results. Orangetheory has solved this issue for you. This is solved from their heart rate approach. You have two choices to begin from the rower or the treadmill. Talk to a coach about your goals and they will guide you accordingly. If you are super competitive this might be the place for you. You can earn splat points, try to stay in the red the longest of the group or compete with yourself in the app. I think this is an amazing place for all levels of fitness. They have really innovative ways to keep members engaged throughout with gifts, pajama days, workout hell week. The coach's are helpful. If they see you doing something incorrect they will assist. The music playlist is pretty good! It's loud so you will have to put your listening skills to use, if you can't sweat, run, row and listen. This might not be a place for you. Another cool feature they have a really awesome functional app. You can purchase merch, see your progress & schedule your next class! Also you can see what new contest or themed week is coming up and participate. Now weird encounter today. I've been here for a month. I've been to different orangetheory's, people let me record since I'm a blogger and I'm strategically only recording myself since I'm far off to the corner. It was two coaches today on the floor & the floor coach talked to me quite a lot and she seen my phone and didn't say a word... until after the class. ‍ I get it but like other places didn't say a word. I would also assume common courtesy of not recording random people while working out, that's just weird. But example I'm on the treadmill (it's pretty high) so the camera is only on me. Even if someone walks behind me you can't even see their head. I'm on the rower and you can on see me and the wall. I have over 50k of followers and I usually record my workouts at gyms since I go so many places. Definitely won be posting this one. So if you want to record this isn't the place Troy specifically! Which again is totally understandable, people usually don't bring their phone in the workout area,. They pride themselves on 60-90 minutes without your device, which I'm sure everyone could utilize. I would say go into the nearest location to see what promotions they have. If you don't see anything you can always use this code: 2DTUCC

Berkley FBBC has it down to a science, fast, efficient and effective! The…read morewebsite is super vague, there are no pictures of the studio on their Yelp account, I had to go to their Facebook page to find a picture of the inside of their facilities, there are no prices on the website, and it just felt too infomercial-like. I decided to give this place a try for two reasons, one it is within biking distance to my house and two, the website said they were offering a 21-day package for $79. Apon requesting more info on their website I got an email for a free 3-Day free pass so I figured I would check it out. They also have great reviews, almost too great but I'll get into that later. I called the studio twice to make sure if I arrived for the 6pm class I would be able to register and participate in the same day but no one picked up so I went over anyway figuring I had nothing to lose. I walked in and the woman behind the desk told me they upgrade everyone to a 1-Week free pass on their first visit I just had to pay $1 and put a card on file. I was able to participate in the 6pm class which was great, I got an awesome workout done in 30 minutes. I went back up to the desk so they could get my measurements (but their scale was broken...at a gym focused on weight loss) and then the rapid fire of numbers and dates started. This woman was talking so fast, spitting out all kinds of numbers, and discounts and basically started negotiating with me when I am sure she could tell I was shocked by this information. I asked her to email me a recap of what we went over since I was so freakin' confused. She agreed but warned me that the discounts only get applied if you sign up during your first visit but would extended them by one day, just for me. We went back and forth via email several times just to get to the bottom of what I was asking. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out what someone needs to pay to become a member. Since the prices aren't on their website, here you go: Month-month $239.99/mo 6 month agreement $189.99/mo 12 month agreement $169.99/mo 18 month agreement $149.99/mo They also offer a 4-week trial for first time members only for $109.99 which they will give you an additional week for a FIVE STAR YELP REVIEW (which a lot of gyms in the area also do so beware) and a $10 discount if you sign up for the trail on your first day. The people working there are really nice and the other members taking the classes are also very sweet but the whole money thing gave me an uneasy feeling that I just don't want to have to deal with.

You will see all different body types,  but the core that seemed to have the most familiarity were also super fit. The methodology and culture works to achieve your goals.  The proof is the existing members, like me. The facility is better equipped than a lot of gyms in the area.  Of course, there are all the racks, jump ropes, barbells, rings, kettlebells, boxes, dumbbells, etc.  that you would expect. If you are interested in trying CrossFit or just stepping up your fitness, HC checks all the boxes. Most importantly, if you are looking for a group of Coaches that make you reach your goals this is the place. My case is the perfect example of what the Coaches and gym are capable for. Carlos.

The best gym EVER. Period. Trust me, you won't regret coming here…read more I came in with my friend for a boxing class. I stopped boxing about 5 years ago. My favorite trainer (ICE) switched locations and I didn't like the other trainers as much. Within 5 minutes of being here, I was speaking to the owner, and my day was made. ICE teaches here now!!! I was sooo happy!! He is literally the best and sweetest person ever. I took a class with one of the other trainers and it was very very challenging. I stayed to say hi to ICE after because he was teaching in half an hour. I didn't think he'd remember me and he did!! He got soooo happy to see me and gave me a huge hug! I even took a picture with him and he hugged me like 3 more times I love him!! He said that I'm always welcome in his class whenever I want. I took 30 min of his class and it was as amazing as I remembered it to be. His class is so fun and challenging. The gym is also really cool. It has portraits made out of boxing gloves and license plates. Such a cool vibe, I wouldn't even expect a gym like this to be in MI. Definitely check out this gym and take a class with ICE!!!! You can even tell him that Angela sent you!

The group classes include bootcamp, The Grind (I'm scared to even try it from the name), and cardio kickboxing. Bootcamp classes are 1/2 kicking boxing and 1/2 Tabata style. The music during class will keep you hype & works well with punching a heavy bag. Classes are held as early as 6am and as late at 7:30pm. It's cool that they have classes 7 days a week. The owner is really nice, but don't let that fool you. Classes are intense, but you work at your pace. My pace, slow pace. He offers personal training sessions (in home or at the building). Classes are reasonably priced and will give you a real workout whether a newbie or athletic. Tip: It is right (less than .25 miles) past 13 Mile Rd. and you have to drive to the back of the building to get in. There are boxing gloves there to use, but you can buy a pair there (or a sporting goods store) for yourself if you don't want to share sweat.

I have been a loyal OTF member for 3+ years having been to more than a dozen studios from moving…read morecities to traveling, work trips etc. (this is my favorite thing about OTF- being able to go to any studio!) Unfortunately OTF Royal Oak Main has been the worst experience of them all regarding customer service / friendliness. Caught me by surprise since most studios are excited to have visitors and are very welcoming. I drove 30 minutes to attend class at Royal Oak Main because I loved the Coach and the class time, but I had to walk 5 minutes from the closest parking spot and was 2 minutes late. Therefore I was not let in to class that had at least 6 open stations. I understand there are policies, but I guess that's the amazing thing about my home studios! Find a home studio that will treat you as a friend & human being- wanting you to get your workout in as much as you do even if you arrive 2 minutes after class has started! I have never received this type of treatment or "cold shoulder" behavior from any OTF team member other than at this studio. So don't go out of your way to go to this one if you don't have to!

Warning : Hearing Damage Risk…read more Online comments: I recently used the NIOSH Sound Level Meter app. to see how loud OT classes were. Music was consistently in the 90-95 decibel range, and the coach's microphone was consistently in the 100 - 105 decibel range, sometimes 110. For 105 decibels, OSHA recommends no more than 19 minutes per week exposure to avoid hearing damage. I feel sorry for the coaches, as they are destined to develop hearing damage. It's also sad that almost all participants do not wear any form of hearing protection, and are putting themselves at risk for hearing damage/tinnitus. I have a minor hearing loss, but severely annoying tinnitus (tinnitus is not fun!). I always wear hearing protection during classes, and wanted to warn you all that you are at risk for hearing damage/tinnitus. My review is being posted after a conversation with someone in my family who is an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat doctor). She went to Orange Theory Royal Oak one time and again to Birmingham location and never went again to either places because of the music volume. I thought she was being dramatic until I went to see for myself. The music is dangerously loud. And I like concerts and loud music. I don't feel safe working out In OT royal oak. I don't want to get tinnitus (ear ringing that doesn't go away) or go deaf. Tinnitus is not fun. I knew someone who had it in high school and the constant ringing in the ears has some people wanting to commit suicide. There is a reddit thread on tinnitus if you are interested on the subject. It is enough to drive someone mad. And Orange Theory Royal Oak music volume WILL eventually contribute or cause tinnitus or hearing loss. I don't think I should have to wear ear plugs to get a workout. There is no reason the music needs to be so loud. It's unacceptable. And unless more people complain they won't do anything about it. I like the place and wish I could continue to go there but my hearing is more important. To all the people who dont think the music there is too loud - the truth is you probably already have compromised hearing unfortunately. And that came straight from an ENT.
