We were here for a lovely Sunday lunch with family…read more Seated in the restaurant at a table with an excellent view of the weir and river gates, we were given a menu that was a mix of their regular menu and their Sunday roasts. No starters ordered, I opted for the twice baked walnut and goats cheese soufflé. It was delicious. It came with asparagus, spinach, leek and vine tomatoes. Everyone else really enjoyed their mains, which was a mix of roasts, duck salad and fish cakes. Sticky toffee pudding was excellent from all accounts. And the Espresso Martini I ordered for dessert was very nice. We all had a taste from the cheese board and I thought the cheeses supplied were excellent. While the building has probably been around for a while, the interior has been modernised to be bright and comfortable. The facilities were nice too. The staff were attentive, but yet gave us lots of space and were not intrusive at all. The outdoor seating was very pleasant in the hot sun that finally decided to return for an Indian summer. We spent a post dinner pint of cider here watching the long boats and ducks tootle by on the River Avon. The Boathouse Pub is definitely recommended.

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Served with a choice of either fries or chunky wedges (think roast potato wedges and you'll get the idea). The cafe makes its own hot sauces and strawberry jams, all of which you should try if you get a chance as they're all scrumptious. You can even buy jars of the sauces to take home. Service is warm & friendly and you're made to feel incredibly welcome the second you walk in the door to the moment you leave. If you're on the lookout for something a bit more genuine and satisfying than what the nearby commercial chains can offer this is the place!

I selected the Small Farmhouse breakfast which consisted of sausage, bacon, egg, hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans and a slice of toast with butter and jam. My husband selected the Farmhouse breakfast which had the same ingredients but twice as much. Of special note are the sausages which were very meaty and that the breakfast was cooked to perfection with none of the grease that can often be present. They also serve a full range of hot drinks so I was able to select a decaf latte. The menu includes some sandwich-type options and there were a few scones etc. for those who don't have our appetites. Service was fast for us. We arrived soon after they opened so only about 4 tables were already filled, so I cannot speak to service speed when they are busy, but they looked to have plenty of staff on duty. I find a lot of coffee places just don't really want you stay and they have hard, uncomfy furniture to reflect that. But not here! This place often has events that extend its opening hours, too. My favourite is the 'big comfy folk club' which are folk and acoustic sessions hosted on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. Next one is on 4th March and tickets are only a fiver! Brilliant intimate venue, and the performers usually stick around for a while afterwards which is nice (: OH ALSO, WINE! The big comfy book shop serves alcohol! The owner spent over a year compiling books to open his shop, and ever since has kept a good variety of books that are unique to customers, or a popular search result of a used book. There is always fresh coffee, tea options, beer and wine, and some sort of snacks like crisps or cake for sale. Seating is available to hang out with friends for a little while or to start tucking into your future purchase. Also I noticed that live folk music nights and game nights regularly occur here too!
