I was treated horribly by staff at this establishment. I ordered a chocolate shake that ended up being too thick. I simply went up to the window and said it seemed like the shake needed a little more milk that it didn't taste how a shake normally would. To my surprise I ended up being yelled at by the lady who said I offended her when I said my shake wasn't made to my liking and that I shouldn't question her ability to make a shake. Horrible service by the owner herself. Burlingame Darry Dip had always been a great place to go. Unfortunately new owner is very rude and unprofessional. She started yelling at some children that were playing around enjoying their ice cream just because they got on the table messing around. She started yelling at them and their parents, saying that they should take better care of their kids. We know she is the owner only because she flung that response on them. When the parents were trying to get their kids down she went off on them. Other by standers defended the kids, telling the owner that she didn't have to be so rude, but all she exclaimed was "This is my business, if they don't like it then don't come here anymore!" The kids were startled and some crying because of the way she yelled at them. Had never witnessed something like that before. Very disappointed. I grew up a mile from the Dairy Dip and attended Wyoming Public Schools. In translation, this means I've probably spent more money on ice cream here than on a year's worth of groceries. I rode my bike to the DD, got my scoop of bubble gum ice cream, and attempted to ride home with ice cream cone many times through elementary and middle school. Some successful, some not. I came with my car at night and hung out with every other sixteen year old from Rogers or Wyoming Park while in high school. I visited on ice cream dates all through college to catch up with former high school classmates and friends. And now, here I am, living in a big city far from Michigan. We have organic, house-made, locally sourced ice cream, gelato, and sorbet. With home-made ice cream cones that have little candy surprises in the bottom to hold the ice cream in. And you know what? I'd prefer a great big scoop of Hudsonville ice cream any day. I'm 24 years old and I still prefer superman flavor. Which, by the way, doesn't exist here. Neither do small mom-and-pop ice cream shops. We have a plethora, though, of hip, trendy places to get froufrou cold desserts. Another thing that doesn't exist here? Ice cream for under five dollars. It costs an arm and a leg to get an ice cream cone in this city. I went back to Michigan recently and had a fantastic single scoop for a whopping dollar and some change. It was fantastic. And so I salute you, Burlingame Dairy Dip, as the ice cream shop to which I compare all other ice cream shops. Whenever I come home to visit this is one of my "must go to" spots (in the summer anyhow)! Pros: --lots of great Hudsonville ice cream flavors and many options for those who want other treats (sundaes, splits, shakes, etc) --love supporting a local family owned business! This shop always supported our high school yearbook by buying ads :) --picnic tables located in the back/side --well priced Cons: --parking can be a pain, especially when they are busy (which is pretty often) --they aren't open all year round. I wrote a review on this place 3 months ago and it's gone now. I wanted to put it up again. The owner was rude to my wife and her sister-in-law. He was disrespectful when talking about his employees saying, that he can't trust them and "these girls are young, they don't know what they are doing." All my wife wanted was a flurry with gummy bears on top. The girl working the window said she couldn't do that, so we asked to see her manager. Turns out, an older gentleman claiming to be the owner came to speak with us. We even offered to pay double and the owner said no. After having gone to Doozies in Mt Pleasant many times while living there, the Dairy DIp falls short. The cups here are bigger, but they also cost more. They have a good selection of add ins for the Flurries, but the Doozies definitely has a lot more. So far so good. We have to get used to their menu since we are now living less than 5 minutes away. read more

The greatest thing about the Dairy Dip and other 5 star places is you know what you are going to get. The Dairy Dip makes me think Summer in the Midwest. I've ate ice cream all over this great land and the Dairy Dip is a great example of my favorite places to visit for frozen treats. Hudsonville Ice Cream takes the cake, I'm 28 and still love Superman flavor. Yesterday night it was Cookie and Cream and Mackinaw Island Fudge on a regular cone, the wife had a soft serve vanilla dipped in chocolate. Old stand bys make me happy and the Burlingame Dairy Dip will make you happy. Tips: The line moves quickly and people watching is even more fun when they are eating ice cream, take extra napkins and a spoon so you can try others choices, the 2 parking spots right on 36th St. can be parked next to making room for 4 cars. I love coming to the Dairy Dip, the ice cream is great! I know they are under new ownership now. But Hopefully the owner will get this message. Closing at 9 pm is way to early for the Wyoming Community. I drive past around 9 pm a lot and there is always a line still and I see the girls are working in the dark to discourage more customers to get in line. This is really unsafe for the employees of the Dairy Dip or whatever the future name of the ice cream shop on Burlingame and 36th. For me this has discouraged my husband and I to come as often as we use too, because we can not make it now on most nights. read more

Every time I go to Michigan, Rivertown Mall and Dairy Dip both hold great memories for me. Im from California and there are a lot of ice cream joints nearby where I live. Dairy Dip is my personal favorite, over the overhyped CREAM. Its been years since I have tried this place but I remember the banana split that I got, I remember digging in like there was no tomorrow. I remember the huge line that I had to wait patiently in(a good sign). The atmosphere was cool and silent, peaceful for your ice cream chowdown. The concept of a giant ice cream stand gives you the classic carnival feel to it. I dont know if that's something common in Michigan but I sure like it. Turtle Sundae is a must have besides the banana split. I am going back to Michigan very soon to visit my cousins and I sure am looking forward to coming back for my ice cream fix! read more
