Triple D Fence - He didnt use a longer board at this transition and left it as seen

    Triple D Fence

    (2 reviews)

I hired Triple D to install a "board on board" cedar fence on my property and reuse the metal poles…read morethat were currently installed. I told him, before he started, if he found a fence pole that was off too much, he could tell me the additional cost and replace the pole. I also asked him to stepdown the slope transition rather than follow the slope. When he started, he appeared knowledgeable and a hard worker. When I saw the first side up I found a couple of the rails were not level. They were significantly out of level, and he had already installed the pickets. I told him this had to be fixed. He fixed one and left the other. I then noticed he stopped the transition right at the pole rather than continuing past the pole to allow for a square cap step. He said he would fix this as well. The next day I came home from work and found he had not fixed the step-downs and had installed a back gate. This was an interesting situation as none of the pickets had a uniform gap between them, the gap varied between 1/2" to 6". He even put pickets over the Hinge hardware. Needless to say this would prevent someone from tightening the hinges in the future without removing the pickets. Removing the pickets would cause them to break as he used ribbed nails for those pickets that covered the hardware rather than screws. He also built the gate to a 6' height when the fence was 8'. I told him the gate also needed to be fixed before he went on. I came home the next day to find he put the top cap on the first side, yet did not fix the step-down transitions, and he built the front dual gate and did the same thing to that gate he did to the first gate. He had also installed the other side and top cap doing the same on the Step transitions he did on the first side. It looked horrible. Not only that, he used 6' pickets and when he hit a step down he did not use a longer picket, he put the 6' picket low leaving a visible opening in the fence. He then put the trim over the spot and the trim didn't cover the hole, but he kept going. At this point I had had enough and felt he did not have the experience necessary to do this job correctly, nor did he want to do it right the first time. I decided to fire him and tell him I would pay for what the material would have cost me only, as I would have to tear down much of his work to fix the issues he created. This is not a comprehensive list of his mistakes and lack of quality, however it should give you a good idea of his lack of quality or pride in his work.

They obviously, have never done a wood rail fence...their work was nothing less than shoddy...it…read morelooked like I had built it myself! I had to keep calling them back to make them do it correctly...the last trip, he came out, did half of what he was supposed to do, and left the other half and still didn't do all on the first half that needed to be done. I called him AGAIN, and he said that he would come out and finish it...that was the last that I heard from him and that's been a couple of months ago. I gave up, I was tired of calling him to come out and do the job that he said that he would do. I paid upfront... a huge mistake but, I trusted the contractor that sent him out here. Lesson learned!
