Well our pool is almost complete..that only took 12 months. We had to pay for the dirt work, and the cement work for the deck(ask Darrell why he is on a cash only basis). Had his wife Brandi Clair tell us" only the impatient ones are giving us a bad review, and we are a small pool company". When deck was being poured (March 2021) Darrel actually told us we owned him an additional 400 hundred dollars due to the extra cement. Funny that was the design we agreed on in May 2020. Again we paid the cement guys directly. Then he pulled some crap ordering the plaster sub contractors to leave because we where not going to pay him until he completed the job. So we paid him and he disappeared again without completing the mastic sealant around coupling. So we waited another four weeks and was told to "Hold our horses". Going on seven weeks with no contractor out here to mastic. No worries we had to finish that too! Google search how long it takes to build a pool whether here in Texas or any other state. After design time 6- 14 weeks on the outside! So please don't lie and tell us you can't get contractors to show because it's busy, Covid, small pool company, snowmageddon, or supplies being low. Neither one of you are a professional,hard working or honest pool contractors. You're Gougers. You tarnish the reputation of good pool contractors, church friends and family. All you had to do was finish timely, be professional responsible courteous contractors and up hold your end of the contract without excuses. read more

Do not even think about using! Research their website and reviews. We have paid over $10,000 to finish, correct and replace equipment. Much of what was installed was outdated for the sake of saving money. Don't be deceived by the friendly country smile and promises. If you are fooled into signing a contract make sure there are several thousand set aside before it is actually finished! After a year of waiting for our pool to be finished, left with the clean up and rework...nothing good to say about the owner nor his business. read more

I had hoped to wait until after everything was finished to post this review but then I realized that I might be able to help someone else avoid this contractor by posting my review now. I'll update it if anything changes. I've never been so frustrated with a contractor. Darrell stood in our backyard more than 1 year ago and agreed on a design and a price. We were told at the time that it will take 3-6 months because of backlog. It took 3 months for Darrell to finally get the plans submitted for a permit. and another 2 months for us to finally get a hole started in our backyard. Keep in mind, all the while, we are texting and calling trying to get a status update. If we don't get ghosted by Darrell he gives vague non-answers like "your on the schedule". When considering Burleson Custom Pools and Darrell James keep in mind that you will be frustrated, and it will take a LOT longer than he tells you. Also, Darrell is just a general contractor - he doesn't employee anyone who does the actual work. His subcontractors will tell you exactly what it's like working for Darrell - lots of last minute calls and requests. As of today, more than 12 months later, we continue to wait for the electrician to come and finish his work, then we'll be waiting for the plaster. Who knows what will happen when the equipment is finally turned on and we've lost all hope that Darrell will actually follow through and do the last punch-list items like regrading the areas torn up with the equipment. read more

Do not use this guy. He will steal your money and never respond to texts. "Shady" is an understatement. Started build in April of 2020 and by Jun 30th we were still waiting for it to be done. Then he says if we want it done by July 4th going to cost extra. Never came back to finish concrete. Guy is a joke. have all the texts to prove it. read more

Contract signed on 7/29/2020. Darell paid in full. Builder took 6 MONTHS to get this far and will not clean and grade site. Builder will not respond to txt nor phone calls. When Darell does respond he sets dates but does not show up. Avoid this builder. I am now having to bring in another contractor to complete the work so now paying twice for the work to be done. read more

STAY AWAY.... I would actually not even give one star... We signed our contract with Darryl at the end of September 2020 for our custom pool. They did not start digging until Feb. 2021... LONG story short, here we are November 2021 and he is still NOT finished with our pool. He promised in March of 2021 that I would most definitely have my pool by June. Guess I should have realized when he didn't say June of 2021 that he actually meant June 2022. This has been a complete nightmare. He ghost my husband when he text him asking for an update until my husband sends him a text saying that he would be hearing from our attorney. He conveniently will text back. This last time he ghosted us for several days until my husband put a review online, he conveniently responded... I'm just over this process. read more

Worst contractor EVER! No communication, blamed everything on everybody and anything else, weather, covid, his subcontractors. Which were lies because I contacted them directly and they said they weren't called to do the job until a day or two before. They also came while we were not home so we couldn't supervise. I was called impatient because it took 9 months to get to the plaster phase of construction. I had a letter of intent to lien because Darrell doesn't pay bills (which is not fully paid yet) from work done in november. Did not respond to texts or calls until a letter sent to him from my attorney. He claimed he did not know but he was sent the same certified letter. Just another Darrell lie. I had to pay the decking guy directly because he was cash only. Never gave any instruction of what equipment was needed, how to operate equipment (because I don't think he knows how). He had the audacity to send a link from another pool company about equipment and while I reviewed it Knock Out Pools mentioned a job started Oct. 2020 and finished in 41 days! Darrell James does not care about anything except collecting his money. When he was paid his final check he was GONE. 5 weeks went by and no final grading, no mastic install. There are many people in this same situation with no communication and unfinished work. Also the positive reviews here are from family members and friends from church, I did my research. Don't be fooled, he is full of promises he will not keep. Now his website is offline. read more

I Don't know what to say other than Wow just WOW!! What an awesome company! I couldn't have asked for a more professional, honest, dependable company to build my pool. Working with Darrell & Brandy were a dream, they were AWESOME. I felt like I have known them forever, because they made me feel like family. They eased all my fears when it came down to the final design & process. It was so heart warming to have such honest people to be up front on what it all would take to get the job done right & see the final product! They never sugar coated anything and with the pandemic they were honest how things were taking a little longer than usual. At least I knew my pool would be done right & not rushed. If waiting a little longer meant getting my dream pool & to have patience then hey I'm all for it! I would recommend them to anyone & everyone!
