False Advertisement. I've been a regular customer at this shop and have generally liked their customer service and a decent selection. In fact, I've signed up for their sales notification texts. However today was a bad experience. I received a text stating: " ROCKY PATEL DEALS, BUY 5 GET 1 FREE BUY 10 GET 3 FREE BUY A BOX GET 5 FREE 15%OFF AND A LIGHTER WHILE SUPPLIES LAST @BURKECIGAR" So I go to buy 5 cigars at a price of $10.50/cigar and pick a "free" cigar for 10.90. I'm told "No! We can't give away the store." When I complained about the advertisement doesn't specify I can't get it free I'm told "well it doesn't say you can either." Then the sales representative attempts to tell me how I'm reading the advertisement incorrectly and tells me that the actual "free" cigar is even cheaper. I walk out. Don't need to be preached at. I know of several other cigar shops close by and don't need the condescending attitude. read more

I've had a hard time trying to figure out what kind of rating to give Burke Cigar. The selection is pretty good, one of the employees is friendly (who I believe is the owner), and there is a decent amount of room to hang out in. They even have a small (very small) selection of Savinelli pipes and five or six (whoopie?) tobaccos to choose from. They do call themselves Burke Cigar however, not Burke Tobacco or Tobacconist so I'm going to forgive the lack in the pipe/tobacco area. There are some other things which are extremely unforgivable though. First of all, the prices. The cigars are overpriced to near the point of insanity. Even taking into account that the Virginia OTP tax appears to be built into the shown price of each cigar, most of the cigars are at least ten percent above MSRP. The already pricey stuff such as Padron Anniversary cigars are marked up even more and things such as Fuente Anejos were somewhere between double and triple MSRP. Insanity I tells ya, absolute insanity. Secondly, the hours. I mean, really? Opening at noon, closing at nine. Open at ten on Friday and Saturday, close at eight. This makes them absolutely useless to pick up a cigar on a leisurely late morning commute even at ten or eleven most days. I also found this out the hard way when I dropped by one day around eleven. Third, as friendly as the owner seems to be I just haven't had the same sort of luck with the person/people who seem to be there in the evenings. The people who appear to be regular customers know more about the products and are friendlier. They just can't ring you up. At the end of the day though I suppose they are the only shop on the far side of Burke and they do have a good selection. I know I'm not going to be making a special trip myself. Final grade, 2.1 stars. Would be 3 but I'd have to be able to get in the door more often and not feel like I'm being massively gouged. read more

I had a really great time here. I was not expecting it either. I came here to make a simple purchase and that turned into chilling here, watching football for almost 3 hours. Let me start off with the variety and price. They have a huuuuuuge range of cigars, but sadly there were no Cubans... Which is why I'm giving this 4 stars, kidding ha. But yes, their variety is huge, from wall to wall filled with different types and flavors of cigars. As far as their prices go, it goes in all different directions. If you're looking for something top notch, you're going to be paying top dollar, vice versa. Moving on to the atmosphere, its very friendly! The owners knew what they were talking about and answered any questions I had with no rudeness. They don't push you into buying their items which I really liked. It's very welcoming at Burke Cigar and nobody give you weird looks or anything in that nature. Overall, my experience here was very positive and I had a great time. I'd like to vet this new hobby before I invest in a proper humidor. It was a very friendly and informative experience and I came away with the needed material and knowledge. I'm fairly new to the cigar scene and so i have been looking for places to learn more. I "stumbled" on to Burke Cigar a few months ago and I have been back about a dozen times. It's a fantastic shop with a rather loyal client base. The owner is very friendly. The place has a bar/ lounge feel to it. The prices may or may not e competitive, but you are paying for ambience. If you are looking for a great place in Burke to get reasonably priced cigars, this is it. I was immediately greeted by a very friendly staff member. I had come into Burke Cigar to look for a cigar lounge from which to telework every so often - much to my chagrin, beginning this year, they no longer allow smoking in the store. Evidently, issues with their lease, etc.. The lounge is still there and when the weather is nicer, maybe a place to sit out front and enjoy a cigar. I looked around much like a kid in a candy store and settled in on a La Gloria Cubana Serie R #6. One of my favorites. I can only compare to this brand, but the prices seemed very reasonable and comparable to online for the same sticks. It's rare to leave a place pleased although my hopes of finding a cigar lounge close by were dashed. I'll let my wounds heal and go back soon! read more

Living in Springfield, my options are rather limited for cigar shops around me. Unless I'm willing to travel 20 minutes or more in some direction this is it. Luckily what I'm left with is a great shop! With their hours lasting until 9 now, it makes it a little easier to get a cigar when I want one on the weekends. The prices here are a bit pricey, but find me a B&M cigar shop that isn't! The guys working behind the desk are more than willing to work within your budget and know their product well. I check out every single cigar shop I can find, at least just to poke my head in and say hello to the owner, and this one is one of the most stocked stores I've seen. The place is always busy and now they order food from one of the restaurants down the strip mall and you can smoke and enjoy something to eat as well. I've never taken the time to sit in the lounge but at one point or another I'd like to. There is a big TV. They welcome hookahs as well as cigars and there are quite a few people who know about shisha. Check it out if you are a newbie or a real smoker. They are more than willing to help anyone out with anything. read more

Burke Cigar is my go-to cigar shop when I am in Northern Virginia. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable and there are usually a few people enjoying cigars in the shop. The prices are a little bit on the high side, but nothing outrageous. All in all, it is a great place and I will be stopping by later today. read more

I have been to most cigar places in the DC/NOVA/MD area. I put this one in the top half. The cigar prices are reasonable and the ambiance is amazing. The owner and employees are wonderful. I also like the hours and the fact its a really good place to catch a Sunday football game. I would have given it five stars had it not been for the fact that the regulars there aren't always terribly social with new people there as other cigar shops I have been to in the area even though there are some very cool people that I have met there. read more

FOUND IT!!! I moved to the area in the last 4 months, and was having a very tough time locating a cigar spot with the atmosphere and good people to connect with. Burke is it! Burke cigar is defined by it's enormous selection of cigars. With over 10,000 in their humidor, it'll be difficult to find anything they don't carry. All cigars are kept at optimum temperature and humidity, and I regularly find staff doing random checks for spoiled or sub par wrappers. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The owner, Shami, is frequently there to offer a helping hand to any customers. As a beginner, he personally helped me get started with a cigar crash course and a sort of "beginner kit" that he put together You'll be hard sought to find a cigar shop with the above characteristics AND a lounge to smoke your favorite brands. Tables for card playing, leather couches, plasma TV, and free wifi make this a place for a relaxing and enjoyable smoke with all the amenities of home. 5 stars! read more
