My elderly mother got lost on the road today and entered Cigar Town in Fairfax. Didn't have a cell phone. One of the family owners, Oday, called me to let me know the situation. Couldn't have been more kind and helpful. When he found out she had a GPS in her car, he went to her car to program her route home. I decided to check this place out after seeing the previous review - I was unaware that there was a cigar place in Fairfax Corner - have no idea how long it has actually been there and I forgot to ask. Anyhoo - I walked in and a young friendly guy named Chris came over and asked if he could help me. I asked where the Arturo Fuentes and Romeo y Julietas were located - he showed me, asked me a few questions about what I liked, then made a recommendation for another cigar, based on similarities to the ones I always lean towards. So I bought one of the cigars he recommend, as well as 2 Arturo Fuente 858s - great price on the 858s - $4.00 a cigar. I don't recall ever seeing the price lower than that. I'm not a cigar smoker. But, when you have a cigar aficionado close to you, a fine cigar makes a great gift. I've walked by Cigar Town in Reston several times. Today, I decided to wander in a take a look. I was greeted by Steve, who after hearing my desire made an immediate selection for me. He chose an Arturo Fuente "Lost City". I presented the cigar to my brother and he nearly fell off his bar stool. Yes, he's prone to do that anyway but this time it was because he was so impressed. Unbelievably, he was wearing a hat with the cigar band's logo. Thanks Steve. I appreciate your input. I'll be returning when I want to impress someone else. read more

I was in the neighborhood and came in here to get a few supplies, bought a couple of cigars, including a value pack ( 5 cigars, $48 value, for sale for $25) when I was checking out Steve asked me if I liked medium to full body cigars. - I do, I said - Well, said he, I am going to give you the best cigar you have ever had - Bring it on Baby ! So he walks me over to the front right hand corner ( as you walk in ) where he has all his unlabelled store brand cigars, made for the house in Nicaragua. He showed me the Churchill maduro toro, $9 a pop. I took three of them. I smoked one last night. He was right. One of the best cigars I have ever had - and a full two hour smoke. Amazing. Not a bad place at all... I'm somewhat spoiled by my old store in Bethesda, and their literally homey atmosphere, but for a polished shop, Cigar Town is just fine. The have a decent selection, but unfortunately don't carry my go-to, to the Oliva Serie G, or a couple of my other favorites (though neither did my old store in Bethesda). Decent prices, though, and a comfortable environment; clean, and a helpful staff -- what more do you want? Well, personally, I want a walk-in humidor, but I guess you take what you can get. The "club room" is nice, but only has two (admittedly very nice) chairs. Unfortunately, he charges $100/yr to "join the club," so I haven't tried it. If it were about three times the size, I'd give it some serious thought, but it's a bit too cramped for me. Overall, if I'm in the area, it's the place I go for my sticks -- but not a destination in itself. read more

This place is fantastic. A VERRYY well-run establishment. Steve is a really kind helpful owner and after coming in not knowing anything about cigars or cloves or anything really I left the store more knowledgeable and happy. I went there to buy clove cigarettes since you cant get them in MD (unfortunately) and fairfax is not close to me at all yet I definitely do not regret trekking out here. He gave me five dollars off for no reason other than he is a nice guy and even threw in a free chocolate infusion cigar of my choice! As soon as I left I knew I would yelp about Cigar Town. Wow...really nice place. Just a huge selection of cigars. Especially loved the display for the house blends. Not a cheap place, but then again smoking cigars isn't designed to be a cheap habit / hobby. I left with a Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, since I wanted to try it before buying a box of 10 It's a Boy cigars for like $75. read more

Hadn't been by this shop in quite some time (just don't get to Fairfax Corner for some reason or another) and I've found that a few things had changed since that last time I was there. 1: They now have pipes. Not many, but a few relatively low-grade briar pipes which I would expect to retail for around thirty dollars or so. I have no idea where the tobacco for said pipes was though. 2: They have a posted sign which states that in order to use their "lounge" it is a ten dollar per day fee if you're a non-member. If I want to smoke there I apparently need to pay in addition to buying stuff. I don't see this as a plus. On the other hand, a lot of things had not changed. The selection is about the same as it was, minus a few of the Pepin products which had been there previously, and the absurd selection of overpriced Fuente/Prometheus cigars was still an entire section. I still wouldn't consider them a tobacconist, but at least now the awning to the store isn't an outright lie. read more

First things first....I consider myself a beginner cigar smoker with limited knowledge on different types of cigars... I visited this place for the first time last week and the gentleman that was there took exceptional care of me and gave me a great overview of all the types of cigars that they carry at the store (pretty good inventory) and gave me a couple of samples to try. Their prices are comparable to online prices. He also mentioned that if they can order a specific cigar even if they don't have it at the store... They have a very good selection of quality cigars. The staff is pretty helpful. Try some of the cigars made for the shop. Very nice.

This used to be the best cigar store in NoVA. Not now. The prices have always been a bit higher than other stores but that was off set by Steve who owned the shop and was uber-helpful. He knew his product and how to treat customers. The new owners are rude and don't know squat about cigars. And the prices are still over the market price. They've even jacked up the price on the store brand so those are now as high as top name brands. Cigar Town is now a joke. Avoid it at all costs. read more

It's a family run chain and they get directly sourced from some of the top names in the business. FYI: this place doesn't carry some of the well known names because apparently, the cigar makers either ship to here or to the nearby store John B Hayes, but not both. This place is an authorize Prometheus dealer, and carry some of the high end cigars & merchandise. Friendly, open, good selection, good hours but they did seem a bit bent on selling the lounge, for me they were charging a $1000 or so a year, that's a negatory in this economy. read more

My father is a BIG cigar fan and has tons of them. Me on the other hand. I know nothing about them. I wanted to get him some cigars for the holidays and hate going into cigar shops were they try to up sell you on everything cause you don't know anything. The man in the shop took great care of me and explained why he was picking out each cigar I bought. Gave them to my Father for the holidays and he just smoked one the other night and LOVED it. All time favorite cigar shop!! I came as the shopkeeper was locking the door and she graciously opened up! Very pleased and happy!

Beautiful cigar lounge...all they need is someone with two turntables and a mean collection of soul and funk records and I would move in!!!

They have a great selection and friendly staff, but the price is a little steep. I realize they have to cover cost of rent, but I would think in an area that populated, they could sell their cigars for the same price and just do a higher volume to make up the difference. If i am in a bind I would go back though for the selection. read more
