I was told that you are allowed one bag with the can. We pay for 2 cans and had an 1 bag (2 lbs) out there which they left. I was told you have to break down your boxes which was done nice and neatly packed into 1 box which was left. Boxes are considered recyclables and should NOT be part of the trash can garbage, There should be an extra can/bin for recyclables. We called and the lady said the boxes should be broken down in the trashcan and at the end of the conversation she said it should be in a bag? make up your mind lady! I have been getting my trash service from this trash company with no complaints. Them this past week they took my garbage can with no explanation. After a phone call and conversation it appeared someone traded my trash can because of the code on the can that belonged to someone else. They told me to look at other neighbors trash cans to see if it was somewhere else! WTHECK. Customer service is terrible! Burgess has a contract with Porterdale. Originally I had a bad experience for almost a year since I bought my house, they recently corrected the issue. I now have absolutely no issues with them since the owner assured me there was a new crew, he didn't lie, he wasn't hostile, and he didn't belittle me for having a negative experience and expressing my frustration. He fixed the issue. The issue at hand was my trash being ignored and having to wait another week for it to be dumped. They dropped off a second can for me at 5 AM the next day no questions asked once I called to express my frustrations. Thank you for resolving the issue. read more

I have had service through Burgess trash services only because they were the only ones that offered service at the time in my area I would rather haul my own stuff off to the dump, dont give them a penny of your money they come when they want to sometimes they don't come at all and if you call them they will lie and say they have a picture claiming your trash can was not by the road when you have camera proof it is and when I called and ask they claim they have pics of no trash can by the road and perceived to laugh when I asked for them to send a picture in an email and hung up on me, look at the Better Business Bureau it's really really bad I do not suggest anybody's use burgess hauling so very unprofessional you cannot get your money back.... read more

The pickup truck rode pass my house without picking up the trash. I tried to contact the office and the line remains busy. I have paid my bill and I am very disappointed in this service with no way to address this issue. I finally was able to reach this company and they claim the can was not in place in spite of the fact that I watched them drive by. I have used Burgess for over 20 years! Maybe a pick up glitch a time or two but otherwise very dependable. They changed to a new billing system a few years ago and the customer service on the phone wasn't the best but that has been resolved. Other than that I have no complaints! read more

This company burgess and son missed picking up my trash 3 times and when I call to complain they send me pics of someone else's street and said the driver is new and they would talk to him. They didn't talk to driver(if they did at all) til yesterday after 3 weeks. When I asked if they will compensate me for the inconvenience they said they're picking up my trash that's good enough . Yes I cussed them out and told them that they are trash and their customer service sucks. I've been with this company little over 5yrs(since 10/2016). They need to do better. I'm looking for another company cause I'm not gonna pay my money and not get picked up. Update today(12/3/21) once again my trash was not picked up. They keep making excuses for this person and now have to send someone else out to clean up this other persons mess. They come to the street before my house, mind you they have to turn down my street before turning down the other. They just turn and leave. I've never experienced anything remotely close to what I'm going through with this company. Here's the setup: A few months ago, they got a new driver. My mother is supposed to get her trash picked up every two weeks. He didn't come for three weeks. I called. They said they wouldn't charge us for the extra trash that had accumulated. Great. I thought it was settled. Then last week I get a call. I'm told that their driver is tired of coming to pick up our garbage every week since we are scheduled for bi-weekly. I said we never asked him to come every week; if he's doing that, it's on him. I am told that someone has been calling from this address complaining if he doesn't show every week. Not true. I handle all business related calls as my mother cannot hear on the phone. I told them I called only once to complain when he didn't show for three weeks. The rep kept putting me on hold. She clearly was getting the "details" from someone else, I assume the driver. She had no knowledge of the situation herself, yet kept telling me that we were calling and complaining. A bold faced lie. She first insisted the calls were from this address, then she said maybe it was our neighbors calling and complaining. Our neighbors are calling and requesting that our trash should be picked up every week? The only reason anyone would complain is if we had trash outside the can, which we only did once, and that was Burgess' fault for not coming for three weeks. She told me if we ever complain, they will not come out. No matter how many times I told her we were not complaining, she did not believe me and kept saying they will not come out to our address. I can already predict what's going to happen. This driver can now come whenever he wants to (or not come at all) and they're not going to do anything about it. I've experienced bad customer service like everyone else, but I've never had a business make a mistake, then call me and accuse me of being a liar related to THEIR mistake. Somehow a one-time legitimate complaint that they acknowledged was their mistake has now turned into them saying I am calling all the time and complaining and they will not ever address a complaint again? This woman was hateful and outright lied. No one is calling them regularly. She had no intention of listening to me. She repeated over and over the same thing but when I kept explaining the truth, she told me there was no need to keep arguing. I've never, ever felt that someone should be fired, even when I've had bad service, but she absolutely should. Now I have to find another garbage service provider - a problem I shouldn't even have. It's been real fun dealing with this nonsense while I'm sick and also trying to take care of a sick family member. I called my waste pick up company today just to make sure everything was good with my account because my trash wasn't picked up last Friday. I was met with a rude customer service rep that told me to make sure my can was out by 5am. I responded by sharing with her my can was out a day early because I was leaving town on Friday. She proceeded to tell me she had picture proof and that she wasn't arguing with me. I said ma'am first I didn't call to argue just to make sure I wasn't forgotten tomorrow. She continues to try to go back and forth with me so I hung up. Once I did, my daughter reminded me that as we drove in and out of the neighborhood this weekend, none of my neighbors, who also had Burgess, trash was picked up either. So I called back and thought I had the same operator, but was told she wasn't. ‍(Side eye) She was a lot nicer but also said she was looking at a pic of my entire driveway that showed no can out. This really concerned me because I know I took the trash out the day before because I was going to Selma, Alabama the next day and didn't want to forget so I made my daughter pull it down a day early. So now instead of my call being a simple, (hey don't forget me) I'm concerned about how (if you really have a pic) you have a picture of no can being out.....hhhhhuuuummmm Needless to say I'm disappointed in the customer service I received and I'm looking for another company as well as going to talk to my neighbors to see if they received the same customer service and see if we can rally together to make them fell our absence. read more

I'm completely upset. I have been with this company for 3years and today the day after Christmas my trash wasn't picked up. When I called I was told my trash wasn't out there and there was a picture. The crazy thing is our trash was out last night before any of our neighbors. Go with someone else. Been with them since 2011 and have always had issues with getting a bill, signing up for automatic pay and Thursday was it. Seen a band around my can the week before. No issues, I've had it happen before, but I've always paid before Thursday and they always have picked up. Paid the day before like normal...btw...I have a newborn so my days are fuzzy and I forgot up until I took it to the road at 4pm the day be. They have always been pay by 5pm Wednesday and you're good. Welp, they didn't pick it up. I called and they said we would have to wait...even though they already have their money. We live less than 2 miles away...still they make a big deal out of it. Been a loyal customer for almost 10 years...means nothing to them! So much for support your local economy. Now I'll be going door to door to get my neighbors to cancel with them as well! If after 10 years this is how you treat people and speak to us on the phone....NOPE! Not in my community and not in Newton County GA! *UPDATE* After paying them they still are refusing to pick up our trash can and trash...52 bucks...just because we have a new Green can. So they were paid for a service and they won't complete it. They have left trash at 4 other locations in our neighborhood as well. These folks are the worst. Burgess Hauling Canceled our services because we complained about their services not informing us on the picked up day after a holiday, we made a complaint to the office, asking for a supervisor, we were told that someone will call us, no one called us back, On March 11th Burgess hauling Hauling came onto our property and took the garbage can without informing us. at first, when the trash can was gone I thought someone stole then the trash can, so I called the company the Burgess Hauling office, and asked if anyone pick the trash can up the woman in the office said that our service was canceled, I asked why and she said she was told to cancel because someone called angrily and wanted the service canceled. I informed her that I was present at the conversation and the person asked if they do not inform the customer about garbage pick-up when there is a holiday the person in the office said to go online, we further asked if we can be canceled, she said she has to speak to a supervisor and he out of office, we will get a called from him, no one called us back. Today when I went to the trash can it was gone thinking someone stole the trash can, which gave me a very uncomfortable, and fearful feeling that someone was on my property. I did call Burgess Hauling's office and asked if they came and took the trash can away, they said yes, I asked why the woman said she was told to cancel the service, being mindful they pick the trash up on Wednesday this week. I informed her, I would report this matter, she then laughed at me on the phone. I told her that it was rude and she kept on laughing. I will report this matter to Better Business Bureau, and Newton county. I will be an advocate for others who are been treated in an unprofessional manner. Imagine the thought that someone came on your property and took an item and did not inform you that is trespassing Burgess Hauling. Began having issues with trash in the street after pickup along with erratic pick up times. When my husband called, they weren't concerned. Decided to switch service. My husband called to let them know to pick up the can in 3 weeks. I wrote, requesting to have the can picked up in 2 weeks and a refund for the last month we had paid for and not used. Calls the day after the can was to be picked up, the following week after the can was to be picked up, and 10 days after the can was to be picked up were met with nonchalant attitude or standard apology, but no effort to say when it would be picked up. So, I took the can to the office myself. When I arrived, I received the story that the pick up driver was at my house. I found it interesting that only 30 minutes prior, they couldn't tell me when it would be picked up. Further, I have yet to receive the refund even though I was told it was being processed.
