Stopped by for a quick lunch. Family owned business, nice plus. Kind and quick to take an order. Enjoyed a lunch on the tables in front. Cheeseburger and fries were nice, they must be using a unique cattle, the beef had a slight sour after taste that isn't my favorite but fine for a quick bite. All in, will come back. read more

Waited in line for 20 mins to get a slapped together cold burger. Use to love this place now it's horrible. The owner even made the burger. I would recommend they should upgrade and get a bigger grill. There is no way anyone should be waiting that long. Bland. I never salt my food, but had to to taste anything. I had to pay extra for ketchup because the onion rings came with tartar sauce (who does that?!), as did the burger. More sauce than burger and more bun than anything. Dry and bland. Oh, and no restroom. I thought establishments with indoor seating were required to provide one. read more

I get it's a hometown favorite since the late 60's, but whatever it was in it's heyday, that time has long passed. Now, for maybe a couple dollars cheaper than our local BK, McD's, Carl's Jr, or even Ranch Scottish Highland Burgers, what you're getting is so subpar that you should want to spend the extra $1-2 and get something better. First, I've eaten here a few times, with similar experiences, across several months in between. If it was an off day, they must excel in off days, so I have to imagine it's typical. Out of the gate, you're going to wait - even if you're one of two people there. This is not a speedy establishment. And when you do eventually get your order, the wait will not be worth it. The buns will be dry, the burgers overcooked, the sauces nearly flavorless and watery, the veggies soggy, the fried offerings barely seasoned and oily. It's a poor approximation to what a good burger experience should even begin to be, wrapped in a physical establishment that probably should have been renovated last century. Again, it was probably very excellent forty years ago, but whatever shell of what it was, I have no idea why this place ends up as busy as it does throughout the week. Location? The miniscule savings? It can't be the potential of waiting 30-45 mins for an order of their poor food offerings. There is nothing exquisite here. So, I have to imagine it's either nostalgia for times long past, the savings of a few bucks or some manner of masochism. No. If you love Burger West, it's all yours. I have no idea why you'd want it. You must know something super secret about the place, because it's certainly neither good food or the experience. read more

Hit up the old burger stand by the other day when I was in Ontario. As always their Ranch Hand with fries is just like I remember from 35 years ago. How do they do that? Same Cows? Same buns? Ranch Hands never fail to bring a smile on this "old" guys face. Summer of 1989, my boy and I with the our girls in the car, burgers all around. Its a trip back in time for me always. 3 buns, Two burgers. cheese, lettuce, sauce, tomatoes, pickles, kinda like another burger chain but better. Waaaaaaaay better. Driving in the hot desert on I-84, we found ourselves famished in Ontario and made our way to Burger West. The Ranch Hand was better than a burger from McDonalds and it paired quite nicely with the tots and fry sauce. The black raspberry shake seriously lacked flavor and was sadly disappointing because... who likes a vanilla shake? ‍ All sadness aside, we will likely return to try the highly recommended fish sandwich. read more

This place is highly overrated. The food is mediocre and over priced. Call me a cliche American but hamburgers are highly underwhelming. The patties are tiny and bland. The fries and onion rings aren't bad. The food is overhyped. This place survives on nostalgia alone. The simple fact that they refuse to move into the modern era and accept cc is ridiculous and most like costing them a huge amount of business, It's a huge contributor for why I rarely ever visit. Honestly only ever visit when my wife is in the mood. It's just one of those local spots that people visit to say they didn't go to McDonald's. If you're in it for the nostalgia, go for it. If you're in it for some quality food, keep on driving. The Ranch Hand burger is 2 hockey pucks between 3 cheap balloon bread buns. The fries are clearly from the mark down freezer section. The cafe itself is a real step back in time. But I bet the food was better in the '60's. read more

Nic: You have got to be kidding me. I don't eat here anymore, but come here with other people that do. So I just sit and observe. And cringe. A lot, actually. In this day and age, I can't believe the staff is still not wearing gloves while handling food, or seems to have any notion of food safety. Saw last week that the young lady making the hotdogs uses her thumbs to separate the sliced buns, then pushes the sausage in the bun with her finger. Really??? Not much left then to eat but fries and pink sauce. Although, after observing over fifty pre-made single serve containers with fry sauce sitting out at room temp, I think I'll stick with fries. Unless the girl that slaps the raw patties on the grill, without washing her hands, goes over and shoves them in the box, like they did last week. That did the fries in for me. Been here many times over the last few years. It's a very simple Burger restaurant - not some soul-less franchise, and I like to support my local economy wherever I can. It's slightly different than what you'll find elsewhere, different style of hamburgers than most fast-food burgers you might be used to, but it's good, has a certain "charm" and nostalgia to the old place. I love the fries and the fry-sauce. Worth the extra 35-cents (or whatever it is) to get an extra one. Be sure to pour the smaller one (from your fries) on your burger, and use the bigger one for your fries - then you're doing it right. The people are nice here. Drive-thru window is as fast as any other place - and they've been doing the same, simple menu for years. No public restrooms here, though. read more

My go-to in Ontario. Burger West is a well known establishment and has been in the same location as long as I can remember. I go for the Farm Boy and fries with an extra tub of sauce and an extra large scotch and soda. My tip is to dip the burger in the fry sauce. Makes it that much better! read more

Great burgers, always served with a smile. The inside can be a bit cluttered with very limited seating, but there is a shaded area outside with several tables. Luckily, there's a drive thru if you don't want to stand inside with the other customers (it can get crowded when the schools let out), I just really wish that they were able to take debit/credit cards and not just cash. read more

A really great mom and pop shop, I love coming here. Old fashioned burgers and fries, my favorite in town. Best fry sauce too, always have to get extra. Their milkshakes are also really good. It is old fashioned so they only accept cash, no cards, which can be inconvenient sometimes. I've been eating the Ranch Hand and fries for almost 25 years. There is something addictive in these burgers that makes them good. Plus it is family ran and inexpensive. Old school cash only. Burger West is simple, real food. Not spiced up, covered in a million things so you can't taste the burger. It is CHEAP and the only thing I agree with Amanda on is the fries and sauce. This is a pretty typical old time burger drive in. The food is good but not exceptional. The price seemed high for what I ordered but I was full when I left. The burger was good and tasted like a Mom and Pop drive thru. The onion rings were a little overcooked. The chocolate shake was OK. Overall I was satisfied but not sure I would drive too far out of my way to come again. read more
