I have eaten here and the burgers are great. Unfortunately this place has been closed for a few years. No longer open.

On Sundays they have only two entree options (it varies weekly), today was Bonesless Pork Chop or Fried Butter Honey Boneless Chicken Breast both included Rice (looked & tasted like a pilaf), lima beans, field peas, a roll and drink. We also both got a Homemade Dessert (Brownie delight & blueberry cake). They had I think 6 dessert options. Our total for everything was $31 plus tip not sure of the exact breakdown on pricing. Really a great value. The food was AMAZING! Nice portion sizes and obviously fresh & homemade! The service was EXCELLENT! It's a family owned restaurant and the entire family was hustling in the front & back. We arrived around 110pm and they were packed with the church crowd. They close at 2pm so we were concerned we were pushing it but there was no rush at all to leave. The patrons were even very friendly - Small town USA fell! We definitely will be back as they serve breakfast & lunch Wednesday - Saturday as well and we were told by a local they always have daily specials (such as fried steak, catfish, shrimp, etc.). Worth the short drive from Valdosta.

As usual, the food was excellent and I got to have some of that grand lace cornbread - that I can not replicate at home :( - but anyway, I also have to let you know about the hush puppies. I am the daughter of a fisherman so have eaten more than my share of fish and hush puppies in my life. These hush puppies made me want to fall off my chair. The outside was crunchy good and the inside was as light as air, literally melted in your mouth. I truly have never had such a good hush puppy and my Mom made some darn good ones. So plan your visit for a Thursday some time! They also have some new T-shirts with a print on the back of a painting done by Mrs. Paul's - great granddaughter I think is correct. Nice colors, really nice T-shirt. If you are in the Dawson area and you don't go here, you're really missing a great Southern food experience, as well as a place that's clean, staffed by nice people and is a great value. Ending this now, it's making me hungry and it's too late in the evening to start out for Dawson . . .

Got their version of BamBam Shrimp on a bed of greens.to start. Presentation was on a bed of chopped iceberg lettuce, no side plates were offered, and we used our single paper napkin to keep our silverware off the table and wipe our mouths. No linen napkins. I did surf n turf, medium well which most kitchens struggle with. No different here, cooked well all the way through. Baked potato was genuinely cool to the touch. Collard greens were excessively seasoned with vinegar. Not good at all. The presentation was shockingly bad, one side on my plate had a rim of black pepper, the other side had a rim of butter from the shrimp, that's my best guess. Shockingly bad. My wife ordered ribeye medium rare. The outer part was well done and the inside was very rare, cook temperature way too high. Baked potato cool to the touch again. From my seat the kitchen looked chaotic and undisciplined, no quality control at the pass at all, no floor manager present anywhere to be seen. Sometimes my view was blocked by employees clocking in to work. This table should be the last to be assigned period. Non culinary folks could find easy ways to improve this place, linen napkins, side plates, hot food, precision cooking etc. The lack of oversight for the food preparation and presentation of the food killed the experience for sure, no supervision or management of the kitchen and food.

French bread toasted and topped with fried oysters, poached eggs, and a Cajun cream sauce. So delicious and perfectly prepared. Bloody Mary paired very well with this dish! French cut pork chop, blackened, and topped with mango chutney! So tender and juicy! I chose collard greens as one side and they have that true southern taste! Red beans and rice as the second side...a personal favorite. We sat outside as it has a great vibe since it's located at an old train depot! If you're lucky a train will pass by while you're dining! Service is nice and servers are very attentive. You can also sit in the Bar Mason and get fabulous service as well and order off of the menu as if you were in the restaurant or sitting outside. Great date night spot for sure!

Of all the places I have enjoyed a burger. Big Wood is definitely at the top. I had The Sloppy Cow Burger the 10oz burger with crinkle fries. The combination of pulled pork, coleslaw and cheese on this 10 oz burger with their own sauce absolutely took my breath away. I have had some great burgers in our travels around the eastern and central parts of the United States. NO OTHER RESTAURANT or dining facility comes close to the flavor and size of the burgers at BIG WOOD. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. The salad bar was fresh, crispy and delicious. The facility and the restrooms were very clean, and the chef's prepared everything perfectly to mouth watering perfection. BIG WOOD is the pinnacle of fine country dining.

We didn't have anything to drink during our first half of the meal. Speaking of the meal it was hit & miss. We enjoyed the salad bar. Everything was nice & fresh. The blooming onion sauce was really good. We would maybe try the onion rings with that sauce instead. My sister & I shared a few things & we really enjoyed the wings crisp & smoked flavor. I would recommend Those for sure. The smoked chicken was Smokey & tender & With the bbq sauce it was really good. The sweet & hot mixed was our favorite BBQ combo. The baked beans were okay too The ribs were not a good choice for me. I just ate around them. My sister & husband said their Mac & cheese was cold & not very flavorful. They took about one bite each. (We didn't say anything & I'm sure they would have fixed that) we just didn't feel it was necessary so don't hold that against them. My potato salad came later & it felt like it came out of the freezer. Not sure what happened there. Overall we didn't think the food was worth some of the prices.

It's quaint, charming, and has that small-town, heartwarming vibe that makes you want to linger over your coffee a little longer. I ordered the Homemade Hash and Eggs, and it was almost perfect. The portion is hearty, so much so that I couldn't even finish it. But here's the kicker: the dish had absolutely no seasoning. None. Not even a sprinkle of salt and pepper. As someone who loves bold flavors, I found that strange. Thankfully, they had salt and pepper on hand, so after a generous shake (okay, several generous shakes), it turned into exactly what I hoped for: hearty, satisfying, and delicious. The coffee was solid but mild. I'm a "give me an extra espresso shot" kind of girl, so I would have preferred something a bit bolder. They offer basic creamer and sugar options, but I didn't notice any flavored coffee or syrups, so if that's your thing, keep it in mind. If you're a simple coffee drinker, you'll be just fine. What really sets Savannah Moon apart, though, is the service. The girl who greeted and served me was friendly and super sweet, exactly what you'd hope for in a place like this. She was genuine in a way that made me feel like a regular, even though it was my first time here. Overall, this is the quintessential breakfast spot. The prices are average in comparison to most of the sit-down breakfast spots I frequent. I was there for breakfast, and had a Lavazzo cup of coffee, corned beef/potato hash with two basted eggs, and it was delicious. The corned beef hash was not prepared by a chef with precise knife cuts, but how I would do at home--irregularly cut potatoes, onions--it looked like hash! My friend had Eggs Benedict, and she told me they were perfectly delicious. And guess what? Bill was right at $25! Our server was a friendly, attentive young woman, who took good care of us. Run, don't walk, for an amazing breakfast at Savannah Moon Bakery, in downtown Thomasville. Their downtown deserves its own entry on social media.

Well, the pizza at AJ Moonspin was worth our drive up from Tallahassee! It was so over the top that we drove up again a few weeks later to bring family to try it as well. If you're a fan of sourdough, you will fall in love with the crust at AJ Moonspin. The tart bite of sourdough flavor permeates every bite of their crispy crust. I usually only eat the middles of my pizza slices, and leave the crust on my plate. This time... I ate every last bite. My husband went for classic pizza flavors with the Hunter's Moon , I indulged in lighter fare ordering the Harvest Moon. We should have brought a spare tummy with us because after we devoured the cheese bread, we were ready to roll out to our car. Regardless of the pizza you select, you will be "over the moon". Both of pizzas arrived quickly and well-made. Despite being very busy, the service was outstanding as there was always someone attentive to our needs. We brought our leftovers home with us and enjoyed them again the next day where they were just as good as the dining experience. You always know your food is well prepared when you can reheat it at home and still enjoy it as much as you did during a dine in experience. Helpful hint... Use your air fryer to reheat your pizza slices and the crust will stay crispy. If only the restaurant was closer to home, it would become our new takeout spot. Definitely put AJ Moonspin on your list of pizza joints to try. Your experience will be out of this world!
