A quartet of Burger King reviews (4 of 4 - Vila Nova de Gaia - Monte da Virgem, Porutgal)
I would be looking for something to eat, though I had nothing specific in mind, and this Burger King came into view. I figured I would go in and take a look. The one Metro do Porto line that goes south of the river into Vila Nova de Gaia had been extended and, with a 3 day pass in hand, I wanted to see what the extension to Vila d'Este looked like. They did a nice job with it. Toward its terminus is a shopping center with a Continente supermarket and, there, I saw this very smart and clean looking Burger King.
I went inside and it was nicer than most one sees in the U.S. People were coming and going, so it was utilized. They have a drive-through. The cleanliness and airiness of the interior got me to eat in. It's not like you want to be eating your BK fare out of a BK paper bag at a Metro stop.
I had a regular Burger King Whopper combination. I don't ask for much customization beyond "sem cibola" (that's "without onions" in PT). Everything on my tray was true to form and it obviously made for a filling meal, especially with the fries.
The employees were pleasant and the prices at this Portuguese location were to my liking. It's slightly before the final stop, but you'll still have to get out at Vila d'Este and backtrack a minimal amount to the Continente and its parking lot. As I walked to this store, I saw these two big goofy dogs laying down and taking in the sun at the edge of parking lot so I set aside some morsels from my burger for them to eat. When I finished eating, they were gone. This area - Monte da Virgem - is also nicer and newer "suburb" and this Burger King is in synch with that. If wanting to go to Burger King on Porto's south shore, I would come here - and thus recommend it - and, now, it's very easy to reach with the Metro do Porto. read more
