I've eaten there dozens of times since it opened at any time, visitors coming to town, it's the one place I recommend to them. Unfortunately, things have been steadily going downhill for months, and our experience this past week convinced me that we won't be coming back. What do I mean by "going downhill"? I mean showing up and being told there isn't enough staff to cover the tables, so we should come back another day. I mean favorite menu items disappearing. I mean major food items running out early in the evening. The final straw was our visit earlier this week. We first had to wait for a table because, once again, they were understaffed. Before seating us, our waitress had to fold napkins under the legs of the table to stop it from wobbling. Sadly, even the furniture now seems to be falling apart. Then we were told that my wife's favorite dish -- the cauliflower steak -- wasn't available that night. We ordered onion rings for the table, and what arrived was basically a plate of burnt onion ring scraps. The server even told us, "These are the last onion rings." This was at 5:00 in the afternoon. We tried a few, but they tasted awful, so we left the rest untouched and asked for them to be removed from the bill. When the check came, the waitress initially only showed me the total rather than the itemized bill. Once I asked to see the breakdown, I noticed the onion rings were still included. When I reminded her that we had asked for them to be removed, she told me she couldn't do that because we had eaten some of them. So over an $8 order of terrible onion rings, they lost two longtime local customers who, between the four of us, had eaten there more than 30 times. The burgers are still decent, but with the attitude, inconsistency, declining quality, and constant staffing issues, I just can't justify coming back anymore.

I get that you have to "stretch" popular items, but there comes a point where you either serve coffee or the coffee substitute. But that isn't even the biggest issue. But for the last 3 months we had to find somewhere else because more and more tables are marked RESERVED as if this were a Michelin restaurant and not a diner. You used to see one or two tables with a card on it. Last time we went in, there were six. Now in a small establishment where you seat yourself, this is a big turnoff! The ONE time we did find a table, we were there for well over an hour as we had to wait for our food from the kitchen and don't you know, no one ever came in and sat at those reserved tables. Not one! Now the wait staff is still very nice and friendly and they seem disappointed when we have to turn around and leave. But that's the only bright spot. The owners have been talking about setting up a dining area in the front of the fitness center, but issues with the plumbing are still ongoing. So for now the business is set up for take-out only. You can walk up and fill out an order in person, though, so that is what I did. I came back today around 1:30pm to order a Dirty Bird fried chicken sandwich combo. I asked for mozzarella sticks instead of fries. Another woman walked in shortly after I did. The friendly cashier asked her if she was military but didn't ask me, so I mentioned I was a 23-year army retiree and showed her my ID card. She apologized for her error and gave me the 25% (!!!) discount back in cash. So all is good there. Waiting for the food in that hot waiting area is not very comfortable. I feel for the employees working in that hot kitchen. Food came out and there was added bacon on my sandwich. I hate bacon. Again that issue was fixed. By now I felt like I was being a grumpy old senior citizen, but the cashier acted very professionally. Again I was refunded the bacon surcharge in cash. The Dirty Bird sauce tastes like that special sauce on Big Macs. It came with lots of cheese and sauce. It was a very filling meal and right now the combo meals are $10.99 and you get a 25% discount if you are active duty or military retired. You can't beat that deal!
