Overall, just okay. Being from the states, maybe I'm a little extra choosy with my BBQ…read more I ordered the half rack of ribs with 2 XXL wings - wings were over cooked, so one part of the XXL wing was inedible. Barely any sauce. The ribs were decent - definitely not fall off the bone type, but okay tasting. I asked for sweet potato fries, even with an upgrade charge, but alas, the service wasn't the best. So I got the regular fries - which were probably my favorite part of the meal. They were the thinner kind so not the typical "chips" - which I like! The BBQ sauces - 5 choices - I didn't care for any of them. The tangy coleslaw also wasn't a hit with me. $20 or so for the ribs/wings meal & a large Pepsi max.

Luckily I had booked on a Friday night. As we were walked to our table we were informed that there was no jerky or draft beers (same 5 years ago!) Anyway I chose the luxurious salted caramel and choc shake with rum (£8) which was divine and pawed the menu. They had drastically changed this. There are now more veggie and fish choices. Apart from the starters I didn't find the mains that inspiring. Anyway we decided to share some bbq wings for starters and himself had the brisket burn ends for main while I had the pitmaster for £18. The wings arrived in a tasty sauce and were fairly large. When the mains arrived my heart sank. I had to double check mine..it had the ribs..cheese sausage..meaty beans..and another pot of beans but no pulled pork or crackling ..my boyfriend's was dry brisket on soggy bread with greens..the burnt ends were nice. Anyway he left most of his and to be fair they were really understanding and the manager sat down with us to discuss the food. In the end my boyfriends meal was taken off the bill ans mine halved in price.. the way it was handled didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth and would try it again in the far future.

The old railway building. Thanks yelp for making me aware. They have a lunch special with a selection of burgers and a chicken sandwich for £10 (at the time of this review 07/2023). That includes a side of fries. I noticed every restaurant that you walk In the host will ask you about any allergies or intolerances. If you let them know you're they will let you know what to avoid. Or if they do not know they will send you a manager who knows. There must have been a huge problem with allergies and it is a great way to avoid it. It is, in the beginning, a bit annoying until you realize it is actually a good thing (I wonder if Mcdonald's to the same - I'll might have to try that). So I ordered the chicken burger with a breaded fried chicken breast some black pepper mayo sauce some salad, Onions, and a slap of avocado. WOW - the nicely tasting breaded chicken was fried to perfection and it was a really big piece without drying out. Good job! the "burner" was definitely the combination of chicken and that avocado spread mixed in With the black Peppercorn mayonnaise - an almost perfect bite. The bun was not too big to get in the way of tasting what's important all other ingredients have been fresh and am tasty the fries also fried to a crisp state without being burned. Hands down a surprisingly great burger. Oh, I will be back - the service was five starts as well quick, knowledgeable, and friendly!

I went to Honest Burger with group of friends last week. I love burgers and in Manchester, it used…read moreto be case where it seemed like you had several really good places to go for a great burger. But I think that is less of a case now. My favourite burger place Filthy Cow closed and I think some places are not as good as they used to be - possibly because they are no longer able to serve their burgers pink. (To do with health and safety - most places can't guarantee that patties would be without bacteria. Usually only can if minced the meat in-house or the butcher they source meat from can guarantee). Honest Burger opened in Manchester about a month ago and I think its there first branch "up North". They have many branches in London and one in Reading, one Brighton and one in Bristol. Honest Burger in Manchester is next door to Manchester Hall - right next door to Dishoom which opened in Manchester a few months ago. I looked at the menu before visiting and I was happy that it was a fairly small menu - so they could focus on things - quality over quantity. Also very happy to see that Honest Burger served their burgers pink - unless otherwise requested. That reminded me a bit of Filthy Cow which kept things simple. At Honest Burger, there are 3 main "beef burgers". One with just beef (can add cheese), one with beef + bacon and another with beef, bacon + American cheese. There is also a chicken burger and a vegan burger (which is Beyond Meat - had Beyond Meat burger before when cooked myself and its not bad. Close taste and close texture to real meat). As well as the standard menu, they also do a seasonal special and also a local special. When we went last week, the special was called Spring. This was a beef patty, bacon, Montgomery's Cheddar, wild garlic pesto, rocket and pickles. Like all the other burgers, it came with rosemary chips. The local special was called Manchester - it has beef, black pudding, beer cheese sauce, mini roasties, bacon gravy, rocket and pickles. I had the Spring burger. It was delicious - lovely and juicy. The rosemary chips were good - I liked how it was a mixture of sizes so you get small crunchy bits. If I am being critical, they were a little bit too salty. But I rarely add salt to anything so quite often I find things a bit too salty. The prices of the burgers? How does it compare to other places? Probably the most well-known burger place in Manchester is Almost Famous. One thing about Almost Famous is all the burgers are double-patty. Although you don't get fries/chips included - fries cost from £3.50. So comparing the price of Honest Burger to Almost Famous. And also to Byron - another well known burger place. Comparing the most like for like possible to get a burger and fries. Honest Burger - Beef (Beef, red onion relish and lettuce). £9 + £1 for cheese. £10 (includes fries) Almost Famous - Famous (Double cheeseburger, salad stack, pickles, famous sauce, bacon ketchup) - £8.50 + £3.50 for Winning Fries. £12. Byron - Cheese (Beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, ketchup, mayonnaise) - £9.75 (includes fries). £9.75 So Honest Burger and Byron is similar in price. At Almost Famous, you get a double patty but with the cost of fries, it costs more. Just a bit more. (If you want a beef burger and fries, you can get this for just £8.75 at Bryons; £9 at Honest Burger). After eating, we all went to the top floor of Honest Burger which has been taken over by Manchester brewery, Runaway Brewery - with a tap room and a rooftop terrace.

Not your stereotypical '3am burgers with non-descript meat' inside that you'd grab on your way home from a night out either, but top quality delicious burgers. I was initially puzzled by their name, as according to Urban Dictionary, 'Get Chucked' "is a slang term for an extremely hard workout session at the gym, that will get you shredded like Chuck Norris." Then it dawned on me that chuck steak is a cut of beef and all was understood ;) Alongside the choice of five hearty burgers (one of which is veggie) (£7 - £9) there are four varieties of hot dogs (£6 - £8) and three different sides of fries (£2.75 - £4.00). Canned beers from Magic Rock and bottled cider from Kopparberg, milkshakes or soft drinks are available too. These guys are also behind Dirty Dogs - the purveyors of gourmet hot dogs at events across the north west and beyond - so you can be sure that they know how to serve very decent food indeed. If you happen to be in this neck of the woods, do give them a try.

Get Chucked has a small but decent menu that I can't wait to finish sampling. Friendly staff who will help you make the hard choice of which burger combined with a small shop unit means it has a nice 'local' feel about it. The drinks on the menu varied from craft beers to protect so you can find the perfect cold drink to wash down the grease or tame the chili flames. On a busy night you'll have to leave your name with the staff for them to call you when a table comes free. No reservations (at the time of writing) can be a pain but there are good drinking places nearby so it's not too bad to have to wait!

I went in around 6ish on a Friday and got seated straight away downstairs. The place was a bit dark but a lot of northern quarter places are like that these days. Sat down and looked at the menu and I got what I usually order. I was gonna go for something different but eh. One problem I found was that the tables were wobbly ... And it wasn't just my table as someone mentioned It in front of me they came to sort it. I hadn't mentioned it so left it ... wasn't a huge problem so didn't feel I had to. So ordered the Manc-hattan which is 2 patties, cheese, pastrami and a battered black pudding slice on an oven bottom. Wanted sweet potato fries to so paid the little extra for Those. Looking at the menu I saw that they did a beyond meat burger which I've just tried at home and love it so is great that they're catering for BC those on a plant based diets to. My Drink came with a paper straw (good for the environment but sometimes annoying for me ... but it was alright) and a bit later my food came ... it was good to have it straight from the kitchen as apposed to waiting for it to be delivered. It was a tiny bit dry but with black pudding it would be ... the patties were super juicy and handmade and excellent. The sweet potato fries were hand cut and also amazing so all in all it was and excellent meal ... great service, great food, will be back for sure

As you walk in, you start at a stairwell with "Welcome" written in a variety of languages, and a date stone with the year 1910 carved into it, giving a nod to the heritage of this building, and an explanation as to the small entrance and downward staircase, because once you get downstairs it opens into a very large cellar space. The space is very surprising, and furnished with tables, chairs and booths but not cramped in, taking advantage of the space. It was also a very curious thing to sit looking at your menu but see up through cellar windows onto the streets above, and people walking past. We are greeted and taken to our table. We note that it's quite quiet for an early Saturday evening, but our waiter informs us that it gets busier as the night progresses. We are given a wonderful meat-centric menu, which has some great choices of burgers, steaks and chicken, all for very reasonable prices for the city centre, and even offering an Early Bird special. Our party chooses to start by ordering buffalo wings, nachos, and onion rings. American classics. The food arrives in good time and is both fresh and tasty. The onion rings are crisp, the buffalo wings are succulent, tasty, and wonderfully messy to eat, and the nachos are crunchy, but could possibly have done with some more cheese, or a melted cheese sauce rather than melted grated cheese, but they are accompanied by a really tasty fresh salsa, which our entire party shared. Our waiter is friendly and attentive, making sure we're enjoying each course. For our mains we all decided we were very much in a burger mood, and two of us ordered the mushroom burger, whilst I ordered a classic American cheeseburger, all of which again arrived in good time. The burgers were excellently presented with no messing around, no wooden serving planks, just good food as it should be, and were tasty, well seasoned, and used fresh ingredients. They also came with lovely hot crispy chips, which is always good... too many places are let down by lukewarm soft chips. As we enjoyed our meals, we saw another table had some huge stacked burgers turn up, which must be The Portland Tower burger. They looked great, definitely one for next time! We really enjoyed our visit here, as we only decided to pop in on a whim, and weren't expecting anything special, but ended up leaving having had good food and good service in a pleasant and spacious environment for a really good price. We'll definitely return.
