I'm not one to usually do this, but want to make sure the word gets out about this company so no one else gets put in this same situation we were put in, unfortunately. We contacted Bureau County Pool Builder's this spring to take down a pool in our neighbor's yard and install it in our yard. When I initially contacted them, they created a work order, gave me a quote and secured our name on the list, even informing me they had a crew that would be down in our area and they would put our name on the list so the job could be completed while they were down here, taking about 3 days to complete. We then ordered a new pool liner, gaskets, etc. On May 25th, I received a call from them about the work order and everything was finalized. She told me the payment would be due on the first day they arrive on the job. I called back in June asking for a more specific time frame so we could make plans accordingly as to when they'd be down here. She told me our job was scheduled for after the 4th of July but prior to the first week of August. I called them this morning to see if they had any more specific dates and was informed they can no longer do the job because they have so many new pool contracts from the Great Escape and our work order was on the administration desk to be called today and informed of this. I was flabbergasted to say the least. They told me the contractor made this decision last night. I told them this was very unfortunate that our neighbors have been waiting on this as well as us who purchased everything needed and it's now almost the end of summer and it's highly unlikely another company would be able to complete this job this summer. Nothing was done on their end to remedy this situation and I was very unsatisfied with their customer service. Lisa, the person I spoke with was very unprofessional and offered no help or solutions, only telling me to Google other options. Probably wouldn't even give a one star. Was rescheduled at least 3 times due to Covid. However, when the guys came to actually put pool up they said it was due to rain delays. That's only the start....when they showEd up half of them were shirtless and constantly smoking. Cigarette butts all over the yard. Our pump and heater were left below the grade of the yard and will fill up with you water when it rains. When we contacted "Roy" the owner he said just to do water management. Kind of hard when it all sits BELOW the grade of the yard. wont respond to us and won't fix it! What a joke! worst experience ever! read more

The guys were very polite and came on time. The were efficient and finished the job the time they said they would. The guys cleaned everything in my yard. They did like a thousand walks to make sure they cleaned everything. Can't say enough on how great of job they did on installing our pool. Everyone was great and polite from the nice woman who called us first to set things up, the gentleman who delivered the sand, the 2 man crew that dug and leveled the area, and finally Richard and his crew that installed the pool. My only minor thing was I whished they could remove excess dirt for jobs such as mine that had quite a bit. They did mention someone that could help but it would of have made the entire experience perfect and definitely 5 stars if I didn't have to worry about that. Other than that they really did a great job and all made sure I was satisfied before leaving or ending a conversation. They installed an 18ft round pool purchased from Great Escape. The process takes 3 days if weather is on your side. read more

They jumped out and got right to work. Ben, the leader did a great job keeping ahead of the next steps, and keeping everyone moving forward. He did this in a way that seemed to be respected by his team. The group was pleasant, polite and focused on their work. There did not seem to be any obstacles they could not overcome, although it all went smoothly. If all businesses were this hard working and dependable the world would be a better place! This company is amazing! Reading the reviews on here i was skeptical, but they ask me where to out the dirt before they even started and were very upfront about any charges. Even after any charges they were still a chunk under anyone else. Very nice guys and very punctual. They make the experience easy! They also have available products if i want an upgraded pool floor. I have had pools in the past and anytime u put up an above ground pool the sand can move a little but if i wanted to keep my floor smooth longer they have a couple products available to help. read more

We were swindled out of $897 to install our pool!!!! Yes that is over and above what we already paid for the pool package itself AND shipping to get the pool to our home. Great Escape told us we would need to pay a minimal "mileage" fee to get the installers to our house....the total mileage to my house from their office is 34.7 miles and we were charged $198!! That is $5.45 per mile!?!?! Great Escape told us we would need to pay excavating of anything not level over an inch. We already had a pool in this area - same exact size, it was level and already had sand down and they charged us $250 to "excavate" this prepared location. Another $299 for a sheet of plastic to put down between our sand and their sand...k-ching!!! Seriously, when they dropped off the bricks and sand they brought this sheet of plastic and it is nothing more than something you could buy at Menards on a roll for $40!!! Then again, this entitles us to a "lifetime warranty" for install. Of which you will need to pay them mileage to come back PLUS a service fee just to get them to your pool if you have issues! Any guesses on what their mileage fee will be at that time!? To top it off they charged us another $150 because we had an existing deck that runs about 1/4 of the way around on one side of the pool.....it was "too close" and made the install "difficult". These installers boosted that they had over 20 years experience between them, yet putting a pool next to a small section of deck was apparently beyond their expertise, so they had to sock it to us there too. My husband even filled their wheel barrels with sand by using our tractor so they didn't have to hand shovel to themselves. I have compared install rates to TWO other families in my area who are getting pools this week...one was $269 and one was $300. These were brand new digs, yet they were charged LESS for excavating and LESS for mileage!?!?! This is all on top of the 6 phone calls to physically get them their for the install that was over a month late. I cannot believe this company can stay in business with these unethical business practices. SHAME on Great Escape for having a partnership with such a slimey company...then again, they must condone this behavior, they are well aware of the ongoing issues!!! read more

I would give ZERO stars if it would let me. We bought a pool from Great Escape in Davenport Iowa and this is the company they use to install their pools. The ABSOLUTE worst customer service I've ever had. They say they're coming on a specific day and time and then they change it 5 times the night before they're supposed to be there. We were unaware that they charge $2/mile to get to your house ($120 for us) I called the office to see who was to inform us of this and the scheduler said it was the first thing she told me when scheduling my install, she did not. Then it was supposed to be "free installation", they wanted $200 to trim a few tree roots, they claimed that it was going to take them an additional 2 hours to trim them. I called and talked to the manager and he was yelling at me on the phone saying that I was going to pay them or he would call the crew and tell them to leave. I told him that I had no problem paying that amount if infact it did take the crew 2 hours to do it. He refused and said that I needed to pay. He then changed the amount to $75 and acted like he was giving me the deal of a lifetime and I said if it takes that long I have no problem paying. He started yelling at me saying that his guys don't make very much money and that he needs to make sure that they show up next year ready to work, then said the least I could do is buy them lunch. I was baffled. Then....the sand that they ordered had broken up sea shells in it and decent sized rocks (considering its for the bottom of the pool) I showed the sand to the "lead" guy that came to install and he was concerned about it but after talking to Great Escape manager Jay Wilson and his(installer) boss their exact words were "We've never had any issues with the bottoms of any of the pools that we've installed". Now, two months after my pool is up theres indents ALL over the bottom of my pool, some the size of a golf ball, others the size of a baseball, and deep enough for the heel of my foot to fit into. I called Jay back at Great Escape and he said he would send the builders (these guys) out to look at it. Today they called and basically stated that the indents are from bugs in the soil coming up to the sand. Im not stupid, theres no way that a bug could cause these perfectly symmetrical indents of all sizes and this many. They offered to come and drain our pool and put a barrier under the liner and then reinstall the liner for a fee. (it cost $600 for me to fill the pool and they're not responsible for it) The same barrier that was $450 when we scheduled our initial install and $100 the day of the job. We were told that the barrier lining would protect against tree roots, but if a tree root came though there is no guarantee and they're not liable for it (so why would I purchase it?). So now we have a brand new pool that we don't even want to walk on the bottom because of how bad it is. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone for anything. I would hate for anyone to go through the amount disrespect and headache we've had to. Save yourself the time and money and contract someone locally. This company is about the quantity of pools they can put up not the quality. read more
