My taxes have been pretty straight forward these past few years, but I'm still not confident enough to tackle my tax returns on my own. I had left the task to professionals, but in one case, I didn't receive the documents for my tax return until several months later, after making countless requests via email and phone, and at other times, I paid over $150 for (what I believe to be) a simple tax return. This year, I searched Yelp to see if there were any other tax preparers in the area, and I found Burbank Tax Services. Jorge Menendez really knows his stuff and is very fast and efficient. His secretary was also very helpful when I ended up having to reschedule my initial appointment. I am planning on going to grad school this year and hopefully buying a house, and he was able to answer the questions I had about how it could possibly effect my tax returns for next year. He even said that I could email him if I ever had any tax or financial planning questions. I am married and have two kids plus a business (LLC). Jorge Menendez is the king "Tax Man" in my books. I have been recommending him to all my friends since we tried him out last year. Do you know what I love more than his accuracy and efficency???? ...the fact that he is available to answer all your tax questions throughout the calendar year. My previous tax accountant was seriously impossible to get in-touch with unless it was February/March/April...not Jorge - he answered my call in July - What?? Are you serious? and you aren't going to charge me for answering a few questions - love it!! I was totally sold. The office is really nice, has a private bathroom and they offer you water/sodas to drink. Street parking from what I recall, but it was easy to find a space. During tax season he works 24/7 so we were able to meet with him on a Saturday last year and this year we are going to meet with him on a Sunday night - that is so cool. Glad I don't have to take off work. Our family taxes plus our LLC taxes took about 1.5 hours when it was all said and done. I like to be agressive with deductions but Jorge knows exactly how much to push the envelope with deductions and when to play it safe. I went onto Yelp to find a tax guy and I came across Burbank Tax Services and Jorge Menendez. He had some good reviews and his office was relatively close to my home. Jorge took care of everything and increased my rebate 100% more than what I thought I was already going to get. Jorge is very personable and is a straight shooter. I have been to tax guys in the past where you feel like you have broken the law once you are done. Jorge on the other hand is the complete opposite. I left feeling comfortable knowing that if I were to get audited all would be clean as a whistle and I would have zero worries. I HIGHLY recommend Jorge if you are looking for a new tax person and his prices are very competitive with other tax people in the area as well. read more

I fear I am going to sound evangelistic in my recommendation. But Jorge rocks. A fellow freelancer recommended him. (I think he works with a lot of independent contractor types, though not exclusively.) I was looking for someone new because our previous guy charged what I thought was a lot of money, especially considering we aren't fancy pants big earners. But back to Jorge: he's just a really decent guy so far as I can tell. He is also very efficient. He does your taxes while you sit there with him, which is a beautiful thing. Ours took about an hour.
