I stayed at the Hiilside Motel and the place is an absolute dive and a dump. The floors haden't…read morebeen cleaned in a long time. The shower curtain had mold on it. The walls and baseboards were dirty. They had a medicine chest and above it was three lights and they only had one in it and it was burnt out. Had to ask the manager to replace the light bulbs which he did. I was in a kitchenette suite and the toaster was filthy dirty and the regrigerator ice box hasn't been defrosted in a long time. There was dead flies etc. in the lights and on the window stills, At first they wanted to put us in a room on a lower level of a two level building and you had to drive down a 90 degree slope to get it. My mother was with me and she is 84 years old and she cried when the manager told us where we were going. He did move us to a room up on a upper level close to the main highway. There was no kleenex box in the room, no garbage can in the bathroom no cake of soap in the shower (thank goodness I took my own body wash with me). The heat registers were completely filthy with losts of grime and dirt on them. The beds were comfortable but that was about all. I was there for surgery at the St. John Regional Hosital and I had to shower alot before the surgery. After my surgery I went back to the motel as I could not drive after my surgery. The beds were not made up and the room hadn't been cleaned and there was no fresh towels in the room. We had to make up the beds ourlseves and call over to the front desk to get some fresh towels. It was about 2 hours before they came with fresh towels and there was only bath towels and hand towels given to us. Had to call the manager twice for him to bring us some fresh facecloths and I asked for a grabage bag to change the garbage in the only garbage can in the kitchenette. There was also no sink stop for the sink in the kitchenette and when I asked the manger about it he said that sometimes they get thrown away. Why would anyone want to throw away a sink stop for a stainless steel kitchen sink. If it wasn't for the church where I attend paying for this room I wouldn't have stayed there. I am writing this as a warning to all people booking this motel to try to find other accomodations elsewhere. The place is awful and there is no housekeeping even though they say there is. I myself have worked in the motel/hotel industry and I have never stayed in such a dirty filthy place in my life.

What can I say? * there was a VERY comfortable king-size…read morebed, and we didn't get any bites during the night. * the manager seems like a very nice man. He also owns a very, nice dog. * the door wouldn't lock properly; we wedged a chair under the door knob and prayed *the place accepted our dog ...otherwise, we'd have had to sleep in our car. * there was no air-conditioning, so we slept with the windows open and prayed * there was a bumble bee nest in the cracked cement right outside of our door. * I didn't even want to wash my face...left after brushing my teeth in the morning. * there is no ice machine on the premises. * this was a last-minute booking, as the original place I booked wouldn't accept our dog. We were grateful to find a place to sleep. * If all you need is a bed on which to sleep for the night, then you should be alright. * although the price seemed steep, even for that. * I really feel badly giving this place a bad review because the manager seems like such a nice man, trying hard....I'm so sorry sir, but I genuinely felt unclean and unsafe in your establishment. * that's about all I have to say.
