The bed was a challenge, low because of the low sloping ceiling, difficult for someone next to the wall to get out of in the night when there are two people in it, and it was clear that there was just one place people sat as the mattress (or whatever it was) was permanently squished at the edge in just one place. Loved the cats but didn't really see them as they weren't allowed in many spaces we were. The breakfast room was the living room and it felt weird to go in to the room, shut the door to keep the cats out, and sit at the 2 top awaiting breakfast service. Hosts are vegan which isn't a big deal for us as we typically eat vegetarian, but what I disliked the most was being served a plate of food without any say on what went on it and how much. I don't really care to eat foods that are trying to be something they're not, so I'm not impressed with food science created sausages and eggs that are made with a long list of funky ingredients. I'd rather have a real whole-foods meal with items that are known, think breads/tortillas, beans, whole grains and cereals, fresh fruit and vegetables. I can think of a lot of dishes using these foods that would be vegan and way healthier and delicious than the fake stuff. Overall, it's a fun place to stay but I'm not sure I'd stay again. I like real food and the ability to enjoy the pets if around.

New utensils. Well organized cupboards. Full kitchen. Ceiling fan. Effective blackout shades. That is essential for me. Comfy, giant bed. Tall dresser. OK tv. We are on the 1st floor. We are not experiencing any undo noise. It's also safe for us to walk around at night to the many good restaurants and bars. A pedway is nearby to the shops. Only having one key to share could be a bit tricky, but we did everything together, so it didn't affect us. We were able to back in to our designated parking stall with no trouble. Online check in instructions were clear. I'm so very impressed with how clean everything is.

IMHO, no need to look elsewhere for a very comfortable stay at a reasonable rate ($110 all-in, off-season) in uptown Saint John. I rarely give 5-star ratings and I suspect the other Chipman Hill Suites are just as comfortable and convenient. Incidentally, guests of Chipman Hill Suites are welcome for lunch at the nearby Union Club on weekdays whether members of the private establishment or not. Next time I'll make a point of taking advantage of this offer at yet another historic "golden age" building.

Ultimately I picked Fundy Heights and kept my fingers crossed. It was a GREAT choice. Kathleen was a fine host and our room was perhaps the most spacious of our two week vacation in the Maritimes. I can heartily endorse this B&B. The bed was comfortable, there was lots of room to spread out, it was easy to find, plenty of parking, and it is in a great location just few minutes walk or drive from Reversing Falls. Kathleen also prepares an excellent and hearty breakfast (and great coffee). We were fortunate to share breakfast and conversation with several other guests from around the world. Truly memorable. This B&B is located in such a fabulous house with lots of history, and both Terri and Mercer are happy to talk about the history and renovations - and boy can they talk!. We stayed in one upstairs room and a fabulous room in the basement (the original dining room). Both rooms has private bath, which is great. The house is clean, breakfast was filling (lots of fruit - yay!) and the hosts were more than willing to help us with activities, places to eat, etc. They also provide laundry machine to guests at no charge, which was a huge help for us. One downside is parking, there is no parking on site but there is parking one block away in a church parking lot. Not great when you have a lot of luggage.

Our room was big and beautiful with gorgeous wood floors. Our room was not en suite, but we got a huge, stunning old bathroom (with a huge jacuzzi) a few doors away that was only for us and that we could keep locked. The bed was comfortable and the whole place was completely quiet at night. And in the morning, while eating a well-cooked, delicious breakfast of eggs and sausage (guests get a choice of breakfast dishes), we met several fascinating guests and enjoyed the conversation with them and the owners tremendously.
