Wow! This place is amazing. Cheryl and Dwight are the best hosts. We stopped here on a road trip…read moreup to Prince Edward Island and they were so hospitable and helpful. The room we stayed in was out back in the carriage house...very warm and cozy and clean. Just what we needed. They even allowed us to use their washer/dryer to do laundry. They gave us tips on what to see in St John and where to eat--check out Britt's Pub! The breakfast was one of the best on our trip...homemade cinnamon rolls, an egg casserole, fresh fruit, and good coffee. Loved getting to know Cheryl and Dwight and the other guests. The room was very reasonably priced and the location is a short walk from the heart of St. John. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely go back.

We stayed here while in St John as we always prefer a B&B to a motel or hotel. Nice older building…read morein the centre of Old Town within walking distance to the City Market and lots of restaurants. The owners are friendly and welcoming and seem to genuinely like people. A huge plus in this business. The room we had was full of old items to match the style of the building. Our only issue was that the beds were very high and hard to get in or out of. Our room had a single and a double and the single had two box springs as well as a full sized mattress on the old wood frame. I realize they did this so the two beds would look the same height but it was a challenge to get in to. A very tiny bathroom was in the room which was nice but the shower was very small so if you need space to move around in there you may want to stay in a different room which may have a larger shower stall. The included breakfast was French Toast & Fruit with Bacon on the side. Huge portions and very tasty. We went out to get latte's as soon as we got up as The Earl of Leinster only offers drip coffee and we are addicted to coffee with more teeth then drip can achieve. I would recommend this cute little B&B if you are looking for accommodation in downtown St John.

A cosy and quaint b&b close to the Digby ferry! We had a wonderful time, and the vegan breakfast…read morewas outstanding! We can't wait to stay again!

Stayed mid-September. Our room was upstairs. It was fun & funky, angular roofline makes for tight…read morefitting ceiling and overall space, shower and toilet right in the room. The bed was a challenge, low because of the low sloping ceiling, difficult for someone next to the wall to get out of in the night when there are two people in it, and it was clear that there was just one place people sat as the mattress (or whatever it was) was permanently squished at the edge in just one place. Loved the cats but didn't really see them as they weren't allowed in many spaces we were. The breakfast room was the living room and it felt weird to go in to the room, shut the door to keep the cats out, and sit at the 2 top awaiting breakfast service. Hosts are vegan which isn't a big deal for us as we typically eat vegetarian, but what I disliked the most was being served a plate of food without any say on what went on it and how much. I don't really care to eat foods that are trying to be something they're not, so I'm not impressed with food science created sausages and eggs that are made with a long list of funky ingredients. I'd rather have a real whole-foods meal with items that are known, think breads/tortillas, beans, whole grains and cereals, fresh fruit and vegetables. I can think of a lot of dishes using these foods that would be vegan and way healthier and delicious than the fake stuff. Overall, it's a fun place to stay but I'm not sure I'd stay again. I like real food and the ability to enjoy the pets if around.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. We had 2 nights in the cleanest room I've ever stayed in. The…read moretub and toilet are new. Roomy bathroom. The kitchen sink, taps and dishwasher are new. New utensils. Well organized cupboards. Full kitchen. Ceiling fan. Effective blackout shades. That is essential for me. Comfy, giant bed. Tall dresser. OK tv. We are on the 1st floor. We are not experiencing any undo noise. It's also safe for us to walk around at night to the many good restaurants and bars. A pedway is nearby to the shops. Only having one key to share could be a bit tricky, but we did everything together, so it didn't affect us. We were able to back in to our designated parking stall with no trouble. Online check in instructions were clear. I'm so very impressed with how clean everything is.

I was impressed with my second-floor lodging at this historic Sydney Street townhouse -- decorative…read morefireplace, stained glass, modern amenities in the bath and kitchenette -- and the public spaces, especially the sun room, were quite beautiful. The management obtained a city street parking permit for me for a small additional cost -- a most welcome service! -- and it was waiting for me at the inn when I arrived. IMHO, no need to look elsewhere for a very comfortable stay at a reasonable rate ($110 all-in, off-season) in uptown Saint John. I rarely give 5-star ratings and I suspect the other Chipman Hill Suites are just as comfortable and convenient. Incidentally, guests of Chipman Hill Suites are welcome for lunch at the nearby Union Club on weekdays whether members of the private establishment or not. Next time I'll make a point of taking advantage of this offer at yet another historic "golden age" building.
