Yeah, it had some charm about it, and it did seem to be reasonably popular, but in another sense, there just didn't seem to be that touristy charm about it. I guess that probably had something to do with the rather boring selection of beers that they had on tap, which while I do tend to forgive some pubs for having, this one really wasn't one of them. I guess it probably did have a lot to do with it being in a touristy area.

Anyway, as a pub this place was actually rather nice, even though the tap beer selection wasn't too great. Still, they did have a couple of beers that I appreciated, just not in the way that I would have expected from a rather touristy town. Still, they had a nice beer garden, and the staff were quite pleasant as well. So, yeah, I liked this place.

However, as I mentioned, this place wasn't too bad, and it definitely wasn't all that crowded either, which is something that I appreciated. Sure, they didn't have much in the way of a beer garden, just a smokers cage, but the pub did have some charm.
Brice Hill Country Lodge

Upon arriving at 430pm after a day of exploring, we were greeted to basically be told that we had held up the owner who had "plans" these were revealed to be that the football final was on to and she was missing out on drinking with friends. The grounds were beautiful we caught a glimpse of the pool which had been a big drawing card due to a weekend in the mid 30s. Entering the suite it looked amazing bright, tidy with chocolates on the coffee table, and fruit and port on the kitchen bench top and 2 mornings breakfast provisions in the fridge as well as a bottle of wine, milk, juice and pod coffee. The bedroom was also well presented and the huge sunken spa took up most of the bathroom. Unfortunately that's where most of the good things stopped. We tried to put on some music and found that the radio would only receive 1 am station and the iPod dock only had the old connection and so we couldn't use that either. My partner went to check the temperature of the heated pool as we were planing on an early evening dip only to pull back the cover and find it freezing cold and dirty. We also realised that there didn't appear to be any free wifi as advertised on several accomodation websites. We rang the owners only to be told that the pool man had gone to hospital and we wouldn't be able to use the pool at all that weekend and that they were sorry but it wasn't their fault and that there was no wifi it was an error. We tried to play the only cd of approx 5 provided to find it was scratched and unusable. After which I started filling out the review form in the room when the only pen supplied in the room first broke open then ran out of ink. We went out to dinner and called the owners yet again who we told we were very disappointed and would like some compensation. First I was told that they had never had any complaints before I explained that we had booked the suite under the presumption we would be able to use the features advertised I was then spun a story about people fiddling with the wifi and that she would see if she could fix it. I asked again about compensation and she rudely asked what did I think I wanted! I said that I believed it was her place to offer something but that we would be happy with a reimbursement of some of the suite cost unless there was something else they could offer and that I would expect to hear from them the next day. We returned to a room that now miraculously had wifi with a bottle of wine on the door step. We then attempted to have a spa with the single tiny bottle of bubble bath. The next day we avoided the suite as much as possible and the next night with no more bubbles. We attempted to shower instead where we stood looking at a mouldy window and were continuously scalded and then frozen under the trickle of water that we could manage to get going. We never heard from the owners again except when we were checking out she met my partner at the reception door to take his key he never even got inside. This is in no way a 4.5 star place and from what I understand we were in the best room they have. Yes the grounds were beautiful the food supplied was ample and fresh but the although tidy the suite itself was very dated and was dusty and in need of a good going over. The pool man being in hospital was unfortunate but as paying customers, that's not our problem and we could have been notified before arrival or on check in at the very least. The story of the free wifi being wrong advertising and they being turned off by other people then miraculously working again straight out was a load of rubbish and I fully believe they were trying to avoid it being used. The customer service and basic attitude of the owners was disgraceful, rude, uncaring and really almost a joke. I can assure you that dumping a bottle of wine on someone's doorstep in the middle of "wine country" in no compensation at all.
