This campground is fantastic for the family camper or older couples going with friends. The…read morecampground offers many free amenities that you would normally pay for or have to bring yourself at most other campgrounds. This includes rental of volley balls, basketballs, soccer balls, ladder toss, and horseshoes. You do have to sign them out and include your lot number and they must be returned before the store closes but that is a small trade for a service that's not offered almost anywhere else. There is a small pond near the front store where you can use paddle boats at no cost and is stocked regularly with smaller fish, perfect for casual fishing. If you're a little more serious you can fish at the lake at the back of he campground and rent (for free) paddles to go out on the lake with the rowboats provided for you by the campground. There's a nice pool that's relative to the size of the campground thats kept cleanThere's a children's playscape that includes a set of swings, three slides, monkey bars, a merry go round. For the older kids there's tether ball and a beach volleyball court, all within a stones throw of many of the campsites. There's a game room that features many classic arcade games, ping pong, a billiards table, chess and checkers, various assorted board games, and a classic styles jukebox that manages to capture modern and classic music all in one. The activities director and the owners are all incredibly hands on at the camp and there's usually something always going on. Just over memorial weekend there was a game of BINGO on Saturday and Sunday, a free scavenger hunt around the campground, and an ice cream social for a dollar. My only qualms with the campground are the bathrooms but there is only so much a few people can do when it is the patrons who are ruining the bathrooms for themselves and everyone else. Overall, the campground is excellent and yes, there are rules, but these are rules that are not exceedingly hard to follow, nor easy to break. This is a quality campground and it's a great place that even if the features provided for you aren't enough, there's so much to do outside of the campground. Antiquities, flea markets, farmers markets, wineries, and a plethora of lakes and hiking trails available for those who look. Irish Hills Kampground is an amazing mix of old and new, rustic and modern, and the experience is most definitely what you make of it.

There's plenty to do, there are nice shaded sites. It's really family friendly, so I'm definitely bringing my grandkids back here to camp!! If you like quiet, non-partying camping, just a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place!!!

They mow and weed eat the grass everyday for 4-8 hours, with breaks in between. Meaning they could start at 10am but don't actually put the mower up until 8pm or 9pm. They had an extreme mice infestation but did not do anything well to stop them besides disrupting their nest and driving them into the campers. (With no warning, I had multiple mice in the camper) The public showers and restrooms state that they are cleaned everyday from 11am to 1pm, I rarely saw anyone near the building at that time. By the middle of May the shower curtains had mold, stains and half dry rotted. Which were not replaced until much later. These shower curtains must have from last year, even though they close for the winter season. There is mold all over the bathrooms. The laundry room has a constant leak and the door is left open night and day. I haven't seen it closed since they opened it even when it rains. We stayed the whole season because they were the cheapest. We were treated poorly due to being charged for lawn care which was not stated in the rules or discussed before it happened. At the same time we were charged for shower curtains that my girlfriend supposedly tore up intentionally. Which she did not. We were trying to ask about it and Mary snapped and screamed "are you calling me a liar" I shut her down and payed my bill and left it at that. I could not afford to go to a better campground. There were other moments where we were made to feel less than and treated poorly. They knocked on our door often enough it was annoying, which is how they relayed information. They complained about nearly everything. Not saying we were the best but we stayed for the whole season. It's in my best viewpoint they treated us poorly because my girlfriend is black. I will never intentionally go back there. Ive also heard horror stories from other residents that the place is terrible. Their electrical is not up to date so they cannot fill the campground. Our space was tiny compared to others. One of their storage facilities had a tarp on the majority of the building. Which supposedly had been there almost two years.

Our kids would eagerly await our weekly arrivals during the summers, often chatting and playing video games during the off-season. The campground initially offered family-friendly activities like hayrides and crafts.. these dwindled to events that included only our children and the owners' grandchildren, often overshadowed by drunken behavior unsuitable for kids. By the second season, that sense of community soured when the owners' friends/family began uninvited weekend parties on our campsite. Groups would show up, using our firewood and partying late into the night while our kids struggled to sleep, often leaving only after we became assertive and telling them to leave so we could go to bed. This disregard for our family's needs, compounded by other unsettling issues made it clearly evident that Way Back is not a family friendly campground. Our campsite being littered with debris from a previous burned, condemned camper on our lot, promises of cleanup that went unfulfilled for 3 seasons. Obscene drunken adult behaviors in front of children that went unaddressed, only created a growing sense of disappointment. We also faced safety concerns, such as homeless individuals using drugs and living in the campgrounds. Convicted sexual offenders and known drug addicts in the park. Hostile fighting and commotion usually provoked by and instigated by the owners. A lingering presence of inappropriate adults around children at the park. Despite our initial rapport and giving the owners multiple chances to make improvements, issues only escalated, leading us to strongly advise against this campground.

It's the end of the camping season so it was pretty empty. Tons of mature trees. Restrooms were ok but they are going to be getting a face lift soon. The spots are a little short for a trailer and vehicle but there is plenty of extra parking all over. Two playgrounds for the kids, a beautiful river for walking, wading, and at the right times canoe, kayak, float or splash. Town is close with walmart and meijer coming soon. We will be going back., it was a great relaxing weekend.
