We were able to check in early as the friendly concierge was able to give us a call right after our room was ready, and even had our luggage moved to the room before we got to our room. The hotel staff also delivered newspapers to us in the morning as well as had a wonderful shoe shine service. Turn-down service is something you have to request every evening, but even then, it is worth the phone call just to replenish the coffee and tea in the room and get some water. Speaking of coffee and tea, they don't have a coffee maker in the room, instead using a kettle to make both tea and instant coffee. Also missing was an iPod dock, which is an interesting oversight since I would rather listen to some good music than watch foreign language television in the room! The bar downstairs is very trendy with some really good and well-priced snack and menu options. I loved the garlic fries after spending an entire day walking in the old city and drinking the alt beer. Checkout was plain and efficient. You get what you pay, and the stay was memorable.

We went over the Holidays and the hotel is very convenient to the Christmas Markets and high end shopping is very close by. That's what it has going for it: affordable, close to the main train station, and a U Bahn (metro) stop right across the street. The breakfast has all the basics you'd want, but nothing fancy and the only 'warm' options are hard boiled eggs and toast. The colour scheme in the room is a bit jarring, and I also found it difficult to find a good room temperature when sleeping. Normally I sleep with the window open for some air circulation but it's not possible here because all the rooms face the street, which is very busy with traffic and trams. There is an air conditioning unit in the room but it was then too cold.......anyways that was my 4 day long problem. I kept waking up because I was either too cold or too hot. I probably would have given this hotel 3 stars except I had so many problems with the wifi. After 1 day my phone just refused to connect to it and nothing I tried worked. Also when using the wifi on my tablet it would randomly drop out while I was in the middle of doing something. Not nice when you need to keep in contact with people back home and your wifi doesn't work!

Lovely place in Dusseldorf…read more The rooms were very clean and decorated nicely. GREAT sized beds. I really enjoyed the decor in the room, very adorable and chic. Alright, now since us americans are sometimes spoiled by the luxeries, here go the LITTLE complaints. The elevator only fits about 2 people.. and their luggage. You can take the stairs but that is quiet a few steps if your suitcase weighs 20lbs. We didn't mind tho, we just sent one person with the luggage and the rest of us used the stairs. (we got the system down after a few days in europe) There is free wifi, but there is only username and code for the room. (which means only one device and be on) We were there for 3 days, we had to call for about 4 different wifi codes because they stopped working. Oh well. No big deal. Other than that, great place to stay. Right across the street from a mcdonalds (good for a quick bite to eat) and not far from the main shopping strip and dining areas. The train station is also walking distance.

Seriously…read more Obscenely large claw-foot bathtubs, Louis XV mixed with Imperial styled furniture, large beds, massive walk-in showers, tall French doors opening onto modest little balconies overlooking the Northern portion of Königsallee canal. All with the local floating white swan as slow motion entertainment. My personal appeal to this place, is that it's relaxing any time of year. In the Fall and Winter months, I've taken to soaking in the bath with balcony doors open, the stealth Bose sound system's volume turned down low to a sultry saxophone jazz station, full Champagne flute on the heated marble floor with Düsseldorf's cold rainy mist finding its way onto my face...mixed with wind...creating a sensual juxtaposition of dreams, sweating forehead and shivering eyebrows. Aahhhhhh....
