CliffHouse lodge on the summit is nice for lunch. Lower base buildings are new and fresh and clean. Shops. Food. Booze. Gear. Aspen priced so look away! Lots of entitlement here. Lots!! It's clear they know how to make kids feel comfortable while also helping them build skills and confidence on the mountain. Every year we put them in atleast one lesson so they remember the basics. The entire process is also very easy to navigate, which makes a huge difference. Especially on that first day when things can feel a little hectic. From check-in to getting them settled, everything runs smoothly and takes away any stress. Another big plus is the pick-up and drop-off location. It's centrally located on the mountain, making it super convenient to get the kids where they need to be and meet up afterward without any hassle, cause some days get very busy.

The reason I give 3 stars is that this school has very kind instructors who helped me when my fiancé was teaching me. It was not a one-off experience because my friend, who was in the ski lessons with me, was also told to just learn by watching others. If we are paying $150, our instructor should be more hands-on. I saw he was being monitored after my complaint, but he still treated the students the same.

Before booking, I specifically called to ask for an instructor who is great with first-time skiers, and I was told Anthony would be assigned. On the day of the lesson, Anthony never showed up, and after waiting I was reassigned to another instructor at the last minute. While the instructor was polite, the experience did not feel appropriate for a beginner. After a short time, I was taken to a larger area before I had fully practiced stopping and control, which led to two hard falls on my left side. After that I was in pain and had to stop the lesson after only about two hours. Since I had prepaid for a full-day private lesson, I asked the ski school if I could either complete the unused portion the following day or apply the remaining value toward a group lesson. I felt this was a very reasonable request. Unfortunately, the ski school refused both options and offered only a very small credit that would require paying another large amount of money to continue instruction. I tried to resolve the situation directly with them through email and in person, but the response from management was focused on defending their position rather than finding a reasonable solution. For a resort that markets itself as "world-class," I expected a much more customer-focused approach--especially for someone learning to ski for the first time. Beaver Creek is a beautiful place, but based on this experience I would recommend thinking carefully before booking an expensive private lesson here, particularly if you are a beginner.

I have been skiing my whole life and have had Crested Butte on my list to ski for some time. I am glad that I finally made my way over here to ski their slopes. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is owned and operated by Vail Resorts. My buddy and I have Epic Passes and chose to ski here this past winter. This resort is geared toward intermediate to expert skiers as there are lots of blue and black runs. Overall, we had good snow and a fun weekend. We started our day off by taking Red Lady Express Lift from Base Area. We spent a lot of our time hitting the intermediate runs off of Paradise Express Lift. We eventually hit some black runs off of Silver Queen Express Lift. We didn't do it, but Rambo run is the steepest tree-defined ski trail in North America with a 55-degree pitch. That run looks insane. Crested Butte Mountain Resort opened in 1960. We stayed in town near the base of the resort and had a lot of fun. We were able to walk to the lift from our hotel. Crested Butte is a former coal mining town that is a popular tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Mount Crested Butte is in the heart of the Elk Mountains and sits over 9,000 feet above sea level. The town is named after its iconic 12,168-foot mountain peak. You can see the peak while you ski from almost anywhere on the mountain.

Crested Butte Resort is an awesome skiing destination. It is set up well and relatively easy to…read morenavigate around the entire resort from the Front Side (the Base Camp area) to the lifts/terrain on the back side (Paradise Express, East River, Teocalli) as well as the Ten Peaks area! Approximately 40% of skiing trails are marked as Double Black Diamond Extreme, so if you're looking for the most challenging terrain, then this is the place for you! But even if you're not an "advanced expert," then there are still plenty of runs that you can take it easy on... or that will push you to keep on learning and getting better! Of all the Vail Resorts, I feel like the Crested Butte team was the friendliest and most welcoming.
