My fiancé and I had adopted a pitbull/lab mix from the Arlington Welfare League. One of the adoption requirements was to join puppy training class, and the shelter recommended Kelli and Bully Brigade to us. Our main goal was to socialize our dog with others, and of course learn the basics (sit, stay, etc). We went to class for an hour once a week for 5 weeks. The class was great. The main thing we liked about it (other than him having time to socialize with other dogs) was that Kelli would take the time to show us what we would be doing and then have us perform the training with our dog. For example, instead of just teaching Winslow to sit, she showed us the technique and then had us work with Winslow on it multiple times. Another big part was that we went outside for two of the classes to work on loose leash walking. It allowed Kelli to see how our dog walked and comment on things that may need adjusting. Kelli made sure that we knew she was available to help or answer any questions between sessions, and again now that the training has ended. After finishing the class Winslow knows (hasn't perfected but is getting closer): his name, Sit, Down, Stay, Wait, Focus, Come, how to walk properly on a leash, Take it and Drop it, leave it, and go to your spot. We initially hired Kelli and Bully Brigade as a trainer several months back, as one of our dogs has extreme social anxiety. Kelli worked with her and us to get our dog much more comfortable outside the home and she has made dramatic improvements. Without Kelli, that would not have been possible. Thus, when we had to travel out of town, Kelli was the only person we trusted to look after our anxious pup and her much more "happy go lucky" brother. First of all, Kelli's place and the boarding accommodations are amazing. There is so much space and the dogs were able to have a lot of freedom and room to run around, while also remaining safe. Even more impressive than the space itself was Kelli's attitude about taking care of our pups. Not only did she give us regular updates including videos and pictures, which was fantastic, but she also went REALLY out of her way to make our more difficult pup feel as comfortable as possible. We most definitely recommend Bully Brigade, both for individual training and boarding, in the highest possible terms. Absolutely spectacular service! Kelli came recommended by family friends. Her "Effective Pack Leader" program was critical to overcoming socialization issues that were preventing my dog from peacefully interacting with my parents (who are watching her while I go on deployment overseas) dog at their house. Before Kelli entered the picture, I was searching for a new home for my dog and heartbroken that I had to get rid of her, but a series of violent interactions between her and my mothers dog forced me to do so. Kelli came to the house and diagnosed personality issues such as "resource guarding" immediately and implemented training exercises and activities that overcame the existing difficulties, and today the two dogs not only interact peacefully, but play together and have since bonded. My dog was being reactive and I was getting frustrated. I started to look for trainers, and the first one I emailed emailed me back and multiple times referred to my "dogs" throughout the response, if they didn't take the time to read my email carefully enough to know I only had one dog, how could I trust them? Kelli came recommended. I got a great impression from the first email back. She asks questions about the problems you are having with your dog, (when did it start, what situations does it occur in, what is your reaction when it happens, etc.). For my situation she recommended the Effective Pack Leader package. She comes to you and works with you and your dog. She is training you how to train your dog. She cares about your dog, and your progression. She sends emails to check up between sessions, and makes it clear she is available via phone or email for any questions.
