The Bulls Head is a country pub on the edge of the village of Hartshorne, with good links from the A511, the main road between Burton and Ashby. The Bulls Head has a fairly small car park, but there is plenty of additional parking in the chapel car park just up the road. Although it is a pub, it's primary focus is food, but it also has accomodation. The decor of the pub is your classic brasses, country pictures and old typewriters that you see in many country pubs.
The menu is fairly expansive, with the daily specials and desserts on a board. We plumped for the 'Early Bird Special' - a limited menu at a reduced price before 7pm (£8.95 for two courses, £9.95 for three. We plumped for fish, chips and mushy peas, and lasagne, but there was also dishes like steak and ale pie. The food was good hearty stuff, huge portions too, you would do well to eat three courses at the Bulls Head! Obviously you've got to have a dessert, of which there was quite a wide choice, we chose bread and butter pudding, and waffle and cherries, again monster portions! The Bulls Head serves good honest food at a very reasonable price, you can't ask for much more than that. read more
