This was a very timely discovery. We didn't want to cook (again!) for visitors including one who…read morewanted to spend the day in bed!! So we went with Ricky Martin to find a nice Sunday Roast both for us and as a "to go" for our sick visitor. The service was great, and the owner who spent years in New York really knows what hospitality and service is all about. Loved the place and the experience and the Sunday Roasts we excellent. We ate outside in the Sun but could tell that indoors had a warm, friendly ambience too - and dog friendly - we WILL be back!

Right in the centre of Milton is the Swan Inn, famed for its beer. It has now branched out into…read morefood with the 'Cygnet Tea Rooms'. This is on the lounge side of the pub. Adorned with usual pub ephemera, the tables are decorated with the look of a historic tea room and cater for all sizes of party. The menu featured on the chalk board had some pub staple meals like Scampi, Chilli and rice etc, at a very reasonable price of about £7. The rest of the menu was equally impressive, we decided in the end between us to have a cheese scone homemade and lovely, and a chicken mayonnaise baguette, very tasty, with a wonderfully diverse fresh salad. Having passed the enormous homemade cakes on the way in, we shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert, and took a piece of lemon drizzle away! A great lunch in pleasant surroundings, the Christmas menu looked impressive too. Set up for walkers and locals alike, we will return very soon, to sample more of this expansive menu.

We had dinner tonight for the first time - yet it is only 3 miles from our home - why? I guess…read morebecause it is tucked away just off a Main Street in Repton and so you don't see it unless you are looking for it. It was really good, the staff were warm and friendly and the ambience (on a Friday night at 6pm) was a really nice mix of busy, bubbling in the bar and the whole bar area but then really peaceful and conducive to chat - and date night, in the Conservatory where we booked our table (at the last minute). My steak was good and Mrs G enjoyed her fish and chips. Mrs G had a draft cider while I enjoyed a large glass of Tlemperanello (spelling?). Unusual for us we both had a dessert and shared them. The sticky toffee pudding was really good and perhaps the best I have ever had. Cannot recommend the "blood orange" treacle tart - no trace of blood orange flavor, very small and basically not worth the money at all :( Will we be back - Yes! Two thumbs up

It has been a couple of years since I ate at The Boot when I had a very good meal, good menu, good…read morefood and good service. When there was a parking space at the front door, I had to take it. My meal today was not the case. There was a Father's Day 3 course meal for £39 which had a good selection but seemed a little expensive. I ordered off the smaller "Sunday Bread" menu. Belly pork, stuffing Yorkshire, roast potatoes and a small jug of gravy. I wrongly assumed some veg would come with it at a price of £14.99. I thought the menu heading was strange "Sunday Bread". I wrongly thought it was something biblical as in 'give us this day our daily bread.' When my food came out I was shocked it was a SANDWICH. I had ordered off the sandwich menu. If the heading was sandwich menu I would have known better. And all the starch, two thick slices of bread, stuffing, roast potatoes and a Yorkshire. I like carbs but this is ridiculous. Some genius Gen Z at corporate probably came up with "Sunday Bread" The pork was pitiful. I left the bread. The Yorkshire was good, roast potatoes not so good. Very disappointing.
