I used Village Jewelry for a simple necklace repair and was unfortunately very disappointed with…read morethe experience. I was in a time crunch, otherwise I likely would have gone elsewhere after hearing the quoted price, which I felt was significantly overpriced for such a simple repair. To make matters worse, when I went to pick up the necklace, they did not accept cards and did not have enough change for the cash I provided. Rather than finding a solution, they simply shorted me the difference. Overall, I found the experience to be both overpriced and unprofessional. I would not return or recommend this business.

Hidden Risks Behind the Sparkle: My Experience with Brilliant Earth's Deposit and Inventory…read morePolicies Nashville, TN -- I'm sharing this review as a cautionary consumer experience for anyone considering purchasing a diamond through Brilliant Earth, especially if you expect transparent inventory practices, honest communication, or a pressure free buying process. I placed a 20% deposit for a side by side comparison with another stone (we had) already purchased. After confirming the order, receiving a "Great news -- we're preparing your order!" email, and being asked to pay the remaining balance, I was suddenly told the stone was no longer available and that my order would be canceled. However, when I checked Brilliant Earth's website the next day, the exact stone -- same item number, same listing -- was still being advertised as "only one available." This was after I had already been told it was unavailable and after they had asked me to complete payment for the remaining balance of a stone they claimed was "sold." Consumers should be aware that Brilliant Earth's online inventory may not accurately reflect real time availability. Even after being told a stone was "no longer available," the exact diamond continued to be advertised as "only one available," creating confusion and undermining trust. Brilliant Earth requires deposits before confirming vendor availability, which exposes customers to unnecessary financial and logistical risk. In my case, a deposit was taken for a stone that was later claimed to be unavailable. The lack of internal coordination between sales, customer service, and inventory systems resulted in contradictory information and unnecessary stress during what should have been a straightforward process. Another major issue: Brilliant Earth refused to bring in a comparable stone without requiring an additional deposit -- despite having no similar stones available in the showroom. This practice pressures customers to either commit to the first stone shown or pay additional deposits just to view comparable options -- an unreasonable approach that exposes consumers to unnecessary financial risk. For a company that markets itself as transparent and customer centric, this practice is unreasonable and creates a high pressure sales environment. Instead of taking time to understand my diamond goals, I felt pushed toward the first stone I viewed, making the experience feel transactional rather than relational. Purchasing a diamond is a meaningful and often emotional process. The misrepresentation and inconsistent communication I experienced made it impossible to feel confident moving forward. Ultimately, Brilliant Earth's business model and customer service practices -- including misrepresentation of inventory, lack of transparency, and pressure based deposit requirements -- led me to rescind and cancel all orders. When purchasing something as significant as a diamond, trust is essential, and unfortunately, this experience made it clear that I could not move forward with them. I strongly encourage anyone shopping for a diamond -- especially a specialty or high value stone -- to proceed with caution, verify inventory independently, and be mindful of deposit requirements.

A few nights ago I discovered a crack in the shank of my antique engagement ring. The shank (the…read moreband section of the ring) was replaced three years ago by a jeweler near Franklin. Feeling sickened by the idea of taking my ring someplace for repairs (and worse at the thought of losing it if it broke) i decided to take it to Village Jewelers because it is so close to my office. I dropped it off in the late afternoon and they told me that it would be ready at 3pm the next day. They also told me that repair on the shank would be $25. They did not pressure me into buying anything or having anything else done. I called at 11 the next day and they told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. That was fabulous. When I got there we discovered one of the small pave diamonds had fallen out as it was near the crack. They didn't charge any extra and replaced it in the spot. There was no pressure from the salesman and we had a nice chat about vintage jewelry and other things. As someone who's worked in the jewelry biz before, I can say I was treated well, the repair price was reasonable, the repair and service were excellent and I would gladly go there again. I have since recommended them to other people for repairs.

If you're traveling through town, it's basically impossible to get your money back. I've been trying to find another piece to replace one item I bought that needed ho being way too short. I'm not one to wear things that show half of my butt. For the price point, I expected better quality items. I really like this store and would like to support local but I will not be coming back. The last dress I bought was so cute and transparent. I don't expect that from a dress that costs $80. They said use shape wear and it'll work but it made me look like I have rolls. When I tried to return this, the receipt was somehow lost so they would not take the dress back. Within 7 days, they were evidently unable to pull the purchase from my account. I keep running into issues with the sizing and selection of clothes so haven't been able to find anything that worked to return on previous purchase. The other top I bought for $60 has shrunk after one wash and no longer fits. So many items are way too cropped or transparent. I think the quality here has gone way down.
