Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, lingonberry sauce and lightly pickled slices of cucumber.

Historic and cozy pub and cafe in Malmö. Serves traditional Swedish fare, has friendly servers and indoor/outdoor tables. Prices are decent too!

If you're visiting Malmö, you absolutely need to visit Bullen. They have a variety of traditional Swedish fare but the must-have are the veal Swedish meatballs. One order comes with 5 meatballs in a plate of gravy, as well as a side of mashed potatoes, lingonberries, and pickled cucumber. I can't even put into words how delicious the meatballs were - all I had to compare them to were Ikea meatballs (pathetic, I know lol) and now I can never go back to Ikea. Paired with the lingonberry and cucumber, every bite is a 10/10. The mashed potatoes were also really buttery and creamy, and I literally ate until I was stuffed. The service is pleasant and the restaurant has a cool, laid back vibe. Highly recommend!

If you find yourself in Malmö, Sweden I totally would recommend Bullen! Even though in Sweden I didn't try the Swedish meatballs, but I know someone who has and they say they're delicious! I got what I believe was a shrimp soup which was fantastic, portion size I got was too big. The service at Bullen is friendly but not the nicest I've ever had by any means. Restaurant was cozy and definitely would've been nice during the winter, although I was there over the summer.

Awesome place for food, service, and atmosphere. Think of old pub charm. It is beautiful inside and out with a cute patio. We decided to eat in because it threatened to rain. Gorgous inside with paintings, dining fixtures, and table settings. Super busy but the server was super helpful in choosing beer and selecting our meals. I went with the fish with shrimp and my friend went with the pork wrapped in cabbage. I can assure you both were delicous. And filling. And good value for your money.

If you're looking for classic Swedish meatballs within walking distance from the a central train station stop by here! You can easily make reservations in English online to be on the safe side. The restaurant is very charming and has a rustic classic pub setting. Lunch menu has a few fixed options asides the meatballs. The meatballs taste great and well portioned! The meal comes with meatballs, mash potatoes, pickled cucumbers, lingonberry sauce and juice. The price is on the steep side and they do ask for tip at checkout which was between 5-15%. This is not common for Swedish restaurants in my experience but I guess because I'm a tourist, they asked. The meal with no extra drinks or dessert plus 15% tip (normal for Canadians) ended up costing $41 CAD after conversion. This is very steep for a lunch but this is also the closest restaurant to the station that serves them!

Really close to Malmo if you're visiting and looking for a quick lunch spot. We were seated immediately and they speak English and take Apple Pay. The lunch menu consisted of exactly 3 items to pick from: pork belly, veal meatballs, and a seafood soup. We opted for the pork belly and meatballs. Both were absolutely delicious! They come with a small side of two types of potatoes, pickles, and something else. Friendly folks and fantastic food!

Fabulous food and service. We had the steak tartar and panko crusted scampi for starters and swedish meatballs for mains. The food was all delicious. Only reason for less than full rating is inconsistent pricing, 4 shrimp/prawns for a starter were 225 Kr which is a hefty price. Especially when the beef tartar was 205 Kr.

YOU MUST COME HERE! This was one of my favorite meals of all time. Once you enter you can expect a pretty busy restaurant and seating can be challenging but the staff will help you out. They have appetizers and Swedish entree staples. We ordered meatballs in a cream sauce and pork belly in onion sauce. Both came with fixins. The veal meatballs were to die far. The pork belly was good but very salty - you definitely need to use the berries here to mute the flavor. Even though the portions seem small it is SO filling. It's top ranked and very much deserves it. Lastly, they took take visa/Mastercard and also have local beer and cider

The best meatballs in Malmo apparently, and it's probably true. Came with a side of mashed potatoes w berries and pickled cucumber. The fish soup was also really good, it tasted like lobster bisque with big pieces of fish.

While visiting the area and country for the day I wanted to have an authentic Swedish meal. After researching on Yelp I took the recommendations and went here for lunch. The service is friendly and efficient. We had the meatball meal and it was delicious, well prepared from good ingredients, and felt like an authentic Swedish meal. It was is exactly what I wanted.

What a delicious meal in a very old cozy dining room, very charming. We shared the amazing Swedish meatballs and the pork schnitzel. Friendly service and casual, not pushy.

Wonderful service. The staff is so friendly! Old school bar/restaurant ambiance with a huge wooden bar in the right corner when you walk in. Great location for a solo bite or large gathering of family/friends. The food was incredible. Best garlic bread I've ever had in my life. The Swedish meatballs and sauce were velvety and scrumptious. Great place to visit!

Called Saturday around 4 for dinner reservation & they were completely booked. We decided to stop in around 7:30 to see if anyone cancelled. We asked & there was one party ahead of us and it could be about 30 minutes. We were seated around 8:20. A little longer wait but we had a beer (Halsta Lager) while waiting at the bar. Looks like after 8 is when tables open up & they are open til 1 am on Saturday. Now for the food-I've been here a few times now & try something new as everything is so good. This visit didn't disappoint. We started with Whitefish Roe & a Small Beef Tartar (we created a surf & turf appetizer). The Roe was excellent and unique as placed on a potato chip. The fresh Tartar mixed nicely with the egg, caper, onion & horseradish condiments. For main, we ordered the Sirloin Steak & Pork Belly. The steak was amazing, cooked to perfection (medium) & the mushrooms & Bernaise sauce took it over the top! Loved the Parmesan fries also! Pork Belly was decadent, salty & you could say a filet of Bacon. Sauce also took it over the top. Yet another outstanding meal experience! Can't wait to return!

Salad bars seem to be a big part of Swedish dining and Rebell's was fantastic. Wonderful salads and slaws accompanied by fresh bread. The counter service was fantastic. It felt like a delicious, hearty home cooked meal. My girlfriend had the grilled Haloumi Cheese with Fresh Mushrooms and Corn. It was a little heavy on the salt and butter, but the flavors were delicious and the ingredients were fresh. And at around $10 USD per dish it was the best value we got on out whole trip! Basically, it's an open faced sandwich, topped with a few layers of Pålæg (on-lay) from any variety of ingredients. The common factor is it's mainly on rye bread. This shop (Freda) is located in Malmö Centralstation. Convenient, quick, and delicious. It was also affordable. I don't know how accurate my assumptions are, but when I think of Scandinavia, I think of pickled herring (marinerede sild), so thinking this would be the best representation or perhaps traditional of the smörrebröd, I chose this for my first taste. On a slice of rye, there was a small layer of thin potatoes, topped by sliced hard-boiled egg, 4 pieces of pickled herring, garnished with chopped red, white and green onion. The herring was pickled nicely, and had a soft tart taste to it. It meshed with the other toppings nicely and I enjoyed it. It convinced me I had to try it again, other flavors, while I was back in Copenhagen. The one piece of smörrebröd cost about $3, and I also ordered a sparkling water. Service was great, super fast, and I was soon on my way to the train track.

As it seemed a staple of the menu (that changes daily) as well one of their specialties we decided to start with the Bastard Planka. We finished with the Pistachio Ice Cream and Paris -Brest. Loved them both but the Paris-Brest is a must try! My only regret is not getting here sooner. Wonderful vibe with great service!
