It has some nice green area space for dogs and is memorable for some reason. I have a soft spot for it, maybe because it's spelled wrong on Yelp. It's within Louisville city limits, literally right after you pass the downtown area, but it has the feel of a rural rest area. Go figure. It's got northbound and southbound access, which is convenient if you're not sure which way you'll be traveling. We were heading South on our way to Nashville. The grounds are clean and well-maintained. Inside is spacious with benches to rest on each corners. Maps and brochures are available and well stocked. Separately from the restrooms are vending machines and outdoor picnic tables. Pets welcome. On I-65 Mile Marker 60 watch out for a time change because you have just entered the Central Time Zone (not Twilight Zone). They have some nice rest stops on I-65 in Kentucky. These rest areas serve as important...well, rest areas for travelers and truckers. Those in the trucking industry say the for-profit truck stops off of many intersections are often full and sometimes come with baggage in the form of illicit drugs or illicit activity. There's also the pressure of paying for services even if you don't intend to walk in and use the facilities. With these rest areas being in fairly remote areas off of interstates, these also serve as important points so truckers can rest. Or travelers can switch drivers without having to do a Chinese Fire Drill on the interstate. The amenities here are your basic rest area stuff (federal law prohibits the sale of goods, though there is a carve out for vending machines). Restrooms are clean and drinking fountains are available if you need to refill your water bottle. There is a good amount of green space if you traveled with your dog and he's bouncing off the car walls and needs to stretch his legs. There are 2017 maps if you want to go retro or learn how to read a map. And there is an office for the attendant in what I assume is only occupied 9-5 Monday through Friday. Why did I take off one star? The bottled water cost $2. I know, I know...captive audience. But I can imagine buying in bulk the state of Indiana could get a slightly cheaper price if they tried.

I believe Pennsylvania and West Virginia offered rest areas similar to airport terminals, with restaurants and gift shops selling state and local souvenirs. Kentucky needs to think like the aforementioned states regarding return on investment (ROI). Also, I believe the toilets were former movie or TV props for Prison Break or likely Escape from Alcatraz or similar. Edit: I believe it was Canada around Hamilton that offered rest areas that had a food court and shops like an airport terminal.

Nice park-like grounds that felt safe to walk around and people seemed to be out enjoying them as if they were at the neighborhood park. We were a little surprised at just how many people were walking around, playing on the grass with their kids, and just enjoying the place. Often rest stops are a rush to get in, out, and away from them quickly. Many are poorly kept, smell bad, are run down, or are covered in trash and graffiti. Often the picnic areas seem to go unused and are falling apart. That was not the case here and people were appreciating the opportunity to stop and unwind from the stresses of the road.
