It's difficult to find good buko juice without anything else added to it, like water and loooaaadsss of sugar. I hate it when I get one that's loaded with all that junk. Blech. The most perfect buko juice would of course be this: Sipping it with a straw directly from the coconut itself--a chilled coconut! And it comes with a spoon so you can scoop out all the coconut meat afterwards.
However--back to reality. That kind of buko juice is mostly available in restaurants, and imagine how awkward it would be coming to a dine-in restaurant only to order buko juice. Plus, these things can get pricey!
A good, budget-friendly buko juice seller I came across here at SM Foodcourt is Buko Express. It's this coconut-shaped kiosk (soooo cute) that sells fresh buko juice and shakes. Now, if you have any respect for the beautiful, majestic, coconut tree, don't ever get the shake! It's mixed with dairy (which is totally disrespectful to the buko--it is PERFECT on its own and does not need milk stolen from baby cows!), sugar, and just.... wrong.
Buko Express' buko juice is just right. I specifically tell them not to put any sugar, and they don't. And it's good enough to pair your meal with, and refreshing enough to thirst your quench. Not much (or any at all) buko meat though, but it will have to do. read more
