He was…read morerecommended by our real estate agent that we have good success with their previous recommendations over the years. Rick came out and showed us photos of his work on his phone. The photos looked good and he was pleasant to talk with. We agreed to hire him to build our railing thinking we were going to receive a quality and professional job. Unfortunately that is not what we got (see photos). The railing has multiple issues from split wood to different size pieces, two different colored screws and crooked gates. I asked Rick to come out and address the issues and he did come out to take a look. He said he would raise the bottom rail to fix the issue on part of the slats but then I would have a bottom rail that is higher in some areas and not level at all, so fix one issue by causing another issue is his idea of quality work. He would fix the gate as he noted he used warped wood to build them. He came back a few weeks later on memorial day which he picked so I canceled my plans so we could finally put this project to bed.. When he showed up he didn't have all the supplies he needed and didn't even have the correct supplies at that. I told him to come back with the proper materials. He clearly has no attention to detail and is not interested in fixing the project the right way, instead trying to take any short cut possible. Later that day after he left I ended up sending an email asking for him to fix the project by starting over which he even brought up when i was showing him all the issues instead of trying to put a bandaid on everything. Or provide us a refund and we will hire someone else. Rick's response was he was not going to fix anything now. He is not returning my phone call now either. Sadly we trusted Rick and we got burned. It was a very expensive lesson learned and took us a long time to save up the money and unfortunately will cost us even more money to fix the project. With spending almost $10k on railing we thought we were getting a quality product which is disappointing that we are now out the money and will have to spend more money to fix a railing that we should not have to do. I can not recommend Rick with Solid Rock Handyman Services. The lack of attention to detail from installing split wood, to different colored screws, and warped gates that don't latch properly i would never have him do work on property again sense he does not stand behind his work. I encourage you to look for a different handyman if you are in the need for one. Rick with Solid Rock Handyman is not someone I would ever use based on our personal experience.

When he came, he wore a mask and shoe covers which made me feel very safe and comfortable. He didn't know it but I'm immune compromised and that means a lot to me. He quickly determined that the job I was wanting to do would require an electrician and because of that I decided to not officially do it. It was so nice of him to apologize to me, even though I felt bad I couldn't have him do the job and pay him. I will gladly think of hiring again if I need a handyman.

Water pooled, and it sagged the panels, leaked everywhere. He sent his guy to fix it, who charged me more for labor and materials. I felt bad he wasn't going to get paid, so I paid it. One of the panels is coming off, wasn't attached properly. Now that panel is warped and falling apart. The panels don't reach the gutter, so water leaks under the gutter. They kept saying they'd "be out in the next couple days." Now he's ghosted me. I guess I'll hire someone else to finish/fix his work.

On the day of the job I found out he was not doing the job and had a young employee doing it instead. I was assured he was as good. The Bid included screwing down floors where there were any squeaks, which was only half completed. After he was paid in full I noticed kitchen doorway corner has a gap between the door trim and where the floor is installed. The Floor wasn't cut to fit properly. This will need to be filled in with wood filler and stained or painted to try to match the new flooring, which I requested he return to complete. At the time of the request I included a picture asking what needed to be done to fix this. I was met with SILENCE. He has his money so I am left to repair this gap in the floor. I paid to have a professional installation done and did not get what I paid for. There is a complete lack of professional obligation to do the job for which he was paid. I will not recommend this company to install your flooring.

Unfortunately, my experience with this company has been extremely frustrating. The work has been going on for over two months, and despite repeatedly asking the workers who have been in my apartment for a timeline, none of them seem to have any idea when the work will actually be completed. What is even more concerning is that the project manager apparently cannot provide a timeline either. As someone who works as a project manager myself, I understand that unexpected issues can affect a project schedule. What I do not understand is having absolutely no clear understanding of where a project stands, what work remains, what the next steps are, or even an estimated completion date. A competent project manager should be able to break a project into its individual components, establish milestones, identify dependencies, and provide at least a reasonable projected timeline--even if that timeline has to change. Instead, every person I speak with seems to have a different--or no--answer. Meanwhile, residents are left living with the consequences of an ongoing construction project with no end in sight. Delays happen. Unforeseen problems happen. Having no idea when your own project will be completed is a management problem. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you have a choice. I would not hire JR Johnson.
