The roses are so beautiful and many smell to the delight of your senses. Such a great place to stroll around, read, I have a cup of coffee, enjoy the wonderful smell sight of the roses and or have a picnic.

Our family has a couple there as memories of our love ones. Compared to the Municipal Rose Garden- San Jose, our rose garden is tiny. Soon as i read a review on yelp left by one for the many yelpers I follow, I knew I had to see it for myself The yelp review only has the cross streets, which makes it difficult to plug it into your gps. I googled the rose garden and only got the cross streets. I then plugged Municipal Rose Garden, San Jose, CA to my google maps it pulled it right up with the actual address: 1649 Naglee Ave, San Jose, CA 95126. This made me so much more comfortable being able to find it without having to drive around. Google took us right there to the front gate. There are actually 3 main gates to get to the garden and it backs against a green belt so you can park anywhere along there and ease your way in. Parking is all street parking in a suburban neighborhood. Most of the homes have roses in their front gardens. Lots of them have roses lining their driveways. There are 2 public restrooms that were actually open on a Sunday in September. We were there Labor Day Weekend 2026. The men's and women's restrooms are not next to each other. They are by opposite gates. The bathrooms are your typical park bathrooms. Not the cleanest, made of cement and metal toilets. They have doors on the stalls that lock and they had plenty of TP. They have this odd metal gadget that dispensed soap if you push on the lever. I was happily surprised that the bathroom had soap as most park bathrooms lack soap. I was happy they had a cleanish bathroom. This park is the perfect place to take romantic pictures. If you are a professional photographer you need a permit and I belive it costs $100 for that permit. There is a sign in the park with a phone number for professional photographers to call, so there is no surprise for them. Talking pictures, there are many arches that are perfect for standing under and having a friend taking your picture. It looks so much better if you have someone take your picture as then you can see the whole arch. I should have asked someone to take our picture instead of just taking the selfie. We did get some great pictures. Some were not so good as the sun was in our eyes and we were squinting really bad. We took our time exploring the roses and really enjoyed ourselves. One thing I didn't notice was the iconic smell didn't vape though the rose garden. That is where the Sacramento Rose Garden excels in. They have many aromatic roses that wafts through the garden. The nice thing about this garden being so large is you can take pictures without having people in your shots as there is so much room to move around in. In addition to roses, there are also redwoods cluster in the garden. It almost felt like you are in a redwood forest if you stand in the middle of the grove. The Municipal Rose Garden was worth the stop. I'm so glad we made the time to stop by and allowed time to just wander and explore the many varieties of roses. One thing they didn't have were signs so you know what each breed of roses you are looking at, the Sacramento Rose Garden has signs so that is another difference. While we were there a park ranger and a volunteer were busy pruning the rose bushes.

A Walk Down Memory Lane--With Seagulls as Security Guards!…read more There's something special about walking the Municipal Wharf in Santa Cruz, especially when you grew up fishing from this very wharf. For me, this wasn't just another tourist stop--it was a little trip down memory lane. Years ago, I even went scuba diving underneath the wharf. Looking back, I'm not sure what I was thinking! I definitely would not recommend that today. Between boat traffic, fishing lines, and the possibility of getting tangled up in something that you really don't want wrapped around you, it's probably better to enjoy the view from above the water! We had a wonderful time strolling the wharf, visiting the various shops, and talking with the shop owners. Everyone we encountered was kind, friendly, and happy to engage with us. It was also encouraging to see that some areas that used to be pretty dirty have been cleaned up. There's still room for improvement, but overall, it was a pleasant day and a fun way to experience the beach. One area that kept this from being a five-star experience was the ticket booth. The woman working there seemed much more interested in her conversation on her cell phone than in engaging with the people she was serving. A little hospitality goes a long way, especially in a place that welcomes visitors from all over. The Municipal Wharf also gives you a completely different perspective of the Santa Cruz coastline and the area toward the Boardwalk. You get beautiful views of the beach, the water, and all the activity along the shoreline. And then there are the seagulls. Consider them the unofficial security team of the wharf. If you're carrying food, keep your eyes open--and your sandwich even closer! These birds have absolutely no respect for personal property, personal space, or the concept of "I paid for this." All in all, the Municipal Wharf is worth a stroll, especially if you want to see Santa Cruz from a different angle and experience a little history along the way. For me, it was even better because I got to revisit a place connected to some great memories from growing up. Located in San Jose, California, I came here for a work event and had such a great time with my son. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. One of the highlights was when they caught a ball from the outfield and handed it to my son--it was such a special moment and something he'll remember! The ballpark is a great place to bring children, with affordable tickets and fun activities for kids before the game even starts. The churros were also amazing, fresh, and definitely worth trying! First minor league game and of course it was out of town! We were looking for 4th of July fireworks…read morein the area but didn't want to deal with huge crowds and bad traffic in the bay. Parking is easy. Paid $15 to park in the structure next to the stadium. Getting out of the lot was a bit slow as everyone was leaving but there were guides and moved quickly after a while. We got searched and tickets scanned. For a few dollars, you can practice pitching and hang out in the bounce house. Concession are standard except for the garlic fries and the churros. My goodness, the churro is FRESHLY FRIED! None of that frozen stuff heated in the toaster. These churros were fried! The best part? It was only $5!!! The stadium experience was great! Friendly crowds. The firework show are at the end of the night? Impressive! It blew my expectations away! Definitely worth it if you like baseball and want a fireworks show! We were really happy with our 4th of July experience here!

Tracy is a city I always pass by when I'm going to the South Bay Area from Sacramento or on my way…read morehome. I didn't usually pay much attention to Tracy many years ago. But they're started catching my attention in recent years. The City of Tracy is quietly building up more and more new buildings on both sides of the freeway near I-205. It has many more businesses opened up in Tracy, and lots more people moved to the area. On the other hand, Tracy still gives me the other side of the county and small village feels. They have many almond farms with hundreds or thousands of almond trees everywhere. The flowers are so beautiful in late February and March. The City of Tracy is still in the process of moving more closely with all its neighboring cities in the Bay Area. They built many new shopping centers in the city. Some are pretty good! Some failed. But shopping malls failed and are becoming the new normal after the pandemic now! I hope the City of Tracy will non-stop improving but still be able to keep their county feels.

I just attended the City of Tracy shredding event to help my parents out with years of old papers,…read moresensitive documents, etc. When we got there, there were several cars in front of us. We got into the line at 12:52pm and the event was until 1pm. 4 cars arrived after us and were also in line. Once we got closer to the trucks, there was an elderly woman who seemed to be taking down people's information. She consulted with another older gentleman and told us it was 1pm, the bins were full so they could no longer accept us. I informed her that we were in the line before 1pm. She just said I'm sorry we can't take you. She was polite enough, but I am disappointed with the city. They turned away the cars after us as well. If you have a hard cutoff of 1pm then you need to CLEARLY state that on the website. It just says 9-1pm so presumably arriving in the line to shred by 1pm would be sufficient. They should have accepted the cars who were in line by 1pm and then put up a roadblock sign announcing that the event is over/closed. Also, the bins are not magically full at exactly 1:00pm. If you have a cutoff time, that's fine but don't tell me at 12:59 the bins aren't full but are at 1:00pm. I will look elsewhere to take care of my document shredding needs and will not recommend people to come to the City of Tracy event unless they arrive early in the morning. I don't blame the workers but I am unhappy with the service as we had arrived by 1pm - the stated time - and I may sound entitled, but how many cars, etc. are in line is not my problem. If I have arrived to the venue by the stated time, I expect to receive the service I am there for.

Myself and a group of pilots I fly with were invited to Oakdale Airport this past Saturday…read more(3-16-13) to participate in a Spot Landing contest. The contest, which was hosted by EAA Chapter 90 included a breakfast, the contest and a BBQ lunch. Because of a delay, I didn't make the breakfast but, I heard it was one for the books. I did participate in the landing contest and afterward, enjoyed BBQ'ed hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and sodas while talking with friends and other aviation enthusiast. I had never flown into the Oakdale Airport before but, the folks treated us first class. Leaving me to wonder on my trip home why I have never stopped in when it's only a 20 minute flight away. The airport runway is well maintained. They have a park just off the runway which would play host nicely to a day trip and a planned picnic. As for food outside of the airfield, I couldn't tell you. But being so close to Modesto, I would think there are plenty of places to grub once you've landed.
